I'm diggin the new menu music. Real classy.

EDIT: For the guys saying the cars are easier to drive, have you re-configured your wheel settings? cause i checked mines and it was on amateur. I switched it back to Sim, and check the rest of the settings just in case.

Amazing sound work. I've been checking for more than 10 mins different config. with cars and so on. All the cars sounds amazing !!!!!!! Tyres sounds changed !

Just the pops-and-farts left.
I hope PD takes a laxative soon because the said anomalies will be the icing on the cake!

Woo-Hoo! Back on the dance floor - Expert level Daytona Speedway!

for real, I'd love to be a ghost for the entire race...can ghosts still draft?

Dunno about that, but you used to be able to draft behind ghosts, so you never know...

Excellent new handling dynamic with S2 tires. I absolutley LOVE how they improved this. The sounds reflect their real world counterpart's very very well, the S2000 pulling up to 9k will make any car guy cream. I am very impressed with the overall feel of the game, and will be 100% content with the addition of the nurburgring and private race lobbies. After that the world will be a much better place:)

If you guys did not notice. IN SL 55, when you let go off gas, car goes on slowly.. like in real life!!!!!! I noticed MUSTANG NOW has a SOLID AXEL! ALL cars sounds a lot better.. etc.. I also noticed better lower physics when applying brakes at low speeds, etc. Cars have softer suspensions so it seems :) (for the ones that needed it) and just whole car feels lot better.!! now I am going to test out G25

*note I always test this game out in PRO mode, all SIM, no aids, etc...

PS, You cant turn off ABS in ARCADE game.

I also feel that it seems easy to drive pro, in F40 I was flooring the throttle mid turn and it hardly steps out and when it did it was really easy to handle compared to before.

Loving the sounds, especially when you nearly redline the Z06 and lift off the throttle, makes a nice sound,

Also had a new start up wher it pans around the Aston, comes past the grill a big GT5p sign comes up and you see two cars in the garage.

In the UK I can still get the GTR vids for free unlike what was thought before the update, in addition there is a new free GTR vid, can't get it to download so I guess it's part of the server issues.

@ djcorrosive

You can turn off the opening movie by going to options, demo, and uncheck opening movie

Just list whatever changes you've noticed.

1. It is no longer possible to powershift with the G25's H shifter + clutch. Powershifting as in never lifting off the accelerator, and just punching the clutch in and out and changing gears. This will make things more even for everyone. It is still possible to shift quicker, but players have to be more careful now as misshifts are a lot easier to attain.

Damn thats BS, This is what I hate about counsel racer's always dumbing down to fix things instead of adding things to fix them. If they would just add a realistic damage systeme that would burn up clutches drop cylinders blow motors ect.... then you could still keep things like this only you wouldent be able to do it in most car's because you would just over rev the motor and blow it.

I mean if they are going to do this what about the people who shift from 6th to super quick and get the huge over rev wha about them?

Like I said I hate interview's when people say "yeah its a simulator but we had to add some counsel elements and dumbed things down a bit so its not too hard". What I dont get is why not set out to make a simulator regardless of how hard it is then once its finished go back and dumb it down. So in the game people can chose from, Standard, Pro, Simulation?

:grumpy:

one last comment from me regarding the vehicle handling dynamics. I just took a few laps at Suzuka in a NSX-R....WOW what an amazing handling machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It used to be a very twitchy car and now it seems to have a prefect balance. I recommend a test drive you will be surprised:):):)

I have to say this update has made the gameplay a lot more enjoyable, many cars are easier to handle, but it also feels more realistic because in real racing, you're not always struggling with your car, kudos to PD for this update, can't wait for the fall one.

However, a lot of the RWD cars may be... too easy to handle, i noticed a lot of oversteer that just doesn't seem natural, nor due to a complete lack of skill haha.

Though even a little thing i noticed is in the 750PP Fuji event, its a STANDING START, which is absolutely perfect for a short 3-lap race because now cars that are on the PP limit aren't up the creek, they can be right in the action form the start, making the races definitely more competitive and everyone is on a more equal playing field.

Overall the update is fantastic, but there is always room for improvement, lets hope the fall update impresses me just like this did :)

Does anybody here know the difference between the 3 sound adjustements?. The manual really doesn't offer so much information about them. On a question about sound channels you shouldn't select 7.1 if you're using a Stereo because you'll lose sounds... but when we're talking about those 3 options seems to be that they're not about channels.
What I know is that the three sound settings definitely change overall dynamics. On the first setting, the sound gets compressed quite a lot when there's some bass introduced (going over the curbs) or when there's a lot of noise (following another car closely). I recommend to alyways use the last setting (big cinema or whatever it's called). It gives the most realistic sound, as far as I know there's no compression involved here.

The RA adjustments are ghosted in out TT with only ASM & TC selectable, so no more haha. Kind of defeats the purpose of RA but I like it more a level playing field, but I did like adjusting the bias to suit myself. The tuned vette is a lot easier on S2 tyres around Eiger. The first section of turns are easy and you can get on the throttle with more lock on at low speeds, with kind of kills the enjoyment for me. I found you can still spin out though when coming out of the spoon up the hill, it lets go easy like before so you have to concentrate. So far the cars seem able to spin but at higher speeds.

Turbo are clear with blow off sounds very clear on my Stereo set up in the R34 mines and R35 GTR. R34 also seems to accelerate more slowly or sounds more underload. Also lift off oversteer seems less and noticeable around Fuji on 100r. Braking down for the hairpin felt easier to get wrong, skidding seemed reduced but the car went long and lumbered forward with more weight shift I think, so braking a bit early and more control I was able to get it round. Just felt I was less able to turn at low speed after heavy braking. Not sure what the Brake and bias are set at, there ghosted at 5 but still seemed different and less agile at times. I guess harder to get the back end out which makes tyre changes explain that maybe.

I can hardly hear tyre squeal

Would you recommend that setting even if only using the speakers from the TV?

I think what happened was too many SIXAXIS guys complained they couldn't drive the powerful RWD cars (you expect to race a sim with a controller?) so PD dumbed them down.

That's a shame really.

Isn't that's what standard physics are for? Why dumb down pro physics....why

Now driving the F40 isn't anything special

Confirmed the race exit. I see cars stalled out on the side of the road now instead of people leaving the race. I take it even if the host leaves the race still goes on? More reason to keep going and not give up!

I see this too, but its not perfect. I think a guy just left the race but what the AI does is just dump the car on the racetrack meaning you either have to be sharp to avoid obstacles or you might ram into them losing places. I had that happened to me. But its a start nonetheless from PD.

As long as you don't get any problems such as a crackling sound when there's a lot of noise: yes, very much so. If that happens, you should try the mid setting though, and only use to the first one if you really have to.

Possibly Earth, but I play with all aids off using the SIXAXIS and had no complaints. Have yet to test the update. However, I did think, with pad or even my brother's wheel (DFP), the rear wheel drive cars on expert with S1 tyres were ridiculously hard to control.

Any offers to why my G25 feels a lot less responsive?

I've adjusted FF to 10 and switched it to simulation.

Any offers?

+1 ...

they really messed up the G25.

Powershifting is not possible which really sucks, as I'm trying to drift and in order to have fun and drift agressive, and I keep hitting neutral gear. Really bad, PD. Fix it back!

Plus, when you start on the oval, the steering wheel seems to work in negative FF ... just the opposite of what t should do ... I'm not happy about thet at all.

EDIT: oh, and another thing - the setting simulation applies only for the last three wheels (formula force and other, but this setting does not apply for DFP, DFGT and G25, as far as I know).

exactly, everybody should just test it themselves,as even on 2 different 5.1 surround amplifiers,it will be a little different.....checked this at my 5.1 and on a slightly different 5.1 setting at a friends house...
so try all 3 different options and you will find the best one for your own setting....:)

btw,i use the middle one and it raised the hairs on my neck today!!!:crazy:awesome dudes....

spyrrari.

I for one am happy about the removal of power shifting. G25 users no longer have an unfair advantage. The rest of the differences you're noticing sound bad though. :nervous:

G25 does feel a lot different. It used to become stiff when the car started to slide and pushed against me. Now it's like driving a BMW, very relaxed and smooth and at my old level 4 it did not have much FF. So I had to raise it to 6 wich makes it feel more like it was before.

Oh and thanks for pointing that out, :ouch:

I had to use an adapter and the old PS2 controller instead of the sixaxis or I could not controller throttle properly in a RWD. I haven't tried it after the new update (yet, and won't before Sunday) but if what you say is true, and I don't doubt it, it's a poor solution to fix what I think to be a hardware quality issue. The "cheap" SIXAXIS controller.

Apart from that (and some events), sounds like an awesome update, made of many little things pointing it in the right direction!

Now for a my question: Anyone noticed any decrease in what as been described as exaggerated draft effect, especially under braking?

Thanks

Overall a very good update.

Downloaded in 17 minutes, installed and restarted GT.

First checked GTTV, decided to purchase a top gear episode and the ferrari video to check quality. Since starting the download around 30 mins ago nothing has even started so far!

I wish PD would let us keep our settings when updating GT5, took me 15 mins to get all the settings back to how I like.

The games got little difference when on track selection and loading tracks.

Tested the following cars so far:

Corvette Z06: handles much easier than before, sounds much more throaty, like it wants to be driven hard

F40: Can certainly hear the bov on this. (Good test is to stick it in 4/5th then floor it and then change up and listen) Engine also seems to sound a touch better, sounds less dull! handling was pretty similar to before, with muchos turbo lag its not bad to drive. Just wish they would sort out the silly gear ratios on it.

M3: Sounds very similar to before, but as F40 sure they have changed the engines for all the cars, sounds more realistic.

Haven't tried online yet......

and finall whats the percentage thing by the weather in the top left? percentage my videos have downloaded so far?

Yep physic's are dumbed down and tire grip is just..... well S2 now feels like the old R2.

I think your right to many people complaind so they dumbed it down. Maybe the old physics will come back and you will have standard, Pro, Simulation physics.

Any ideas on how we can get them to give us back are old physics?

Well I think I'm going to shelf this game for a while and go back to GTR where they dont dumb down physcis because its to hard. Enjoy your arcade all.

I do agree with the RWD cars being a little too easy, I swear I thought the HSR race was locked on standard physics and I didn't notice but it wasn't, the F430 on S3 handled way too well, but on that note while RWD cars should be hard to drive whats not fair is how these AWD cars have been made too easy to drive and with almost no drawbacks, I mean RWD cars that would beat the hell out of some of these AWD cars are dwarfed due to the seemingly endless grip and mass (whenever even slightly tapped they can be sent spinning off the track). This is some thing the penalities didn't solve because if you were in a RWD in first and everyone else was miles behind you and the AWD car behind you what does he have to lose w/ a 4 second penalty that sends you in the sand trap?

But anyway I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the black bar above the TV icon on My Page?

It is fun seeing so many saying that they dumbed down the physics when I would say not a fraction of us GT5 players have ever driven a F40 or even Corvette Z06.
