What did you do in GT7 today?

I bought the Cayman GT4 and took it to Catalunya, driving on the National layout. I then drove the Ford GT GTE on Spa. After that I swapped the Hellcat engine into the Superbird, fully tuning it to create an absolute death trap that I could barely drive without crashing. I took it to Daytona and Monza, which was terrifying. I then swapped the 4-rotor into my tuned RX-8 and took it to Suzuka. That car is shokingly fast for a road car on sports tyres, but a delicate hand is required to stay on the track. I then took the Audi R8 GT3 and Cayman GT4 to the Nurburgring GP track. This morning I bought the McLaren MP4/4 and drove it around Spa.

Bought a Cayman GT4 and promptly tried to replicate the GT4 RS. Bumped up the power to 493hp, added enough ballast to meet the 3227lb curb weight. A little downforce here, some suspension there, and I was able to get it around the Nurburgring in 7:13 on Sport Soft tires. Apparently Porsche's official record is around 7:05, so other than installing racing slicks, I don't believe I will be able to match that time. Here's the lap:

Bought the Cayman. Played the 4 new events, and particularly had fun using the Escudo as a rallycross car. Then I took my new 787B-rotary-swapped RX-8 out on the grinding circuit, picking up wins at Le Mans, Sardegna, and Spa. I bought the GTO, but I'm just leaving it stock for now. I'll have to keep going tomorrow if I want the MP4/4.

Jumped on and had a look at the new content. Cleared the Abarth menu, but haven't got a single one of the Gr.2 cars! After recently buying the 917K I'm skint, so it'll be a while before I clear that menu...

Opened all the 4-star and 3-star tickets I'd saved from the last month and still only lowest cash pay-out on all but 1 of the tickets. Sad times.

Took my Mini out on the new Catalunya National Circuit for a race and won by miles. Started making a livery for my 911 GT1 then realised it was getting late so tried it at Catalunya for the new Porsche race - 4th, 16s behind the first-placed car. Had another stab, much better pace, but made a couple of mistakes on lap 5 and ended P3, 15s adrift. I don't think the 911 GT1 is any good for that circuit, or I need to find a tune that works for it, so I'll try again tonight with something else - any suggestions?

Then I finished off the livery and it was midnight, so instead of spending a bit of time working through more laps I just took the 911 GT1 for a lap and a bit of SSRX to tick off my daily mileage and called it a night.

Got a 5* ticket and won one gold bar. Don't think I've ever had that prize before.

Royally sucked in the Catalunya rally cross races though. I think P8 was my highest in the WTC600 event.

Seem to be sat in Gold in the TT also, which is weird, did they delete some top times?

Bought the MP4/4 Slapped a 88 Suzuka Replica livery on it and got the fire Suit and Helmet from Senna in 88 as well , did a lap of Suzuka and the 15 lapper at the Sardine track with a 800pp detune .

Great car to drive and it little bit scary but fun .

I did a 'quick' WTC 700 at Le Mans before work this morning and one last night, and it's tougher than it used to be.

I don't know if it was just me, but the grip levels vanished very quickly when it started to rain, and then the car was virtually undrivable on Inters - the rain started while I was on RH tyres as I approached Mulsanne and was medium heavy, reaching about 50% up the surface water gauge by the time I hit Indianapolis, and then boom, it was undrivable - lost over 40s and had to switch to the controller to get out of it. I then pitted for Inters as it dried up very quickly and that too was a struggle.

An AI car also went wide at Tertre Rouge and I was unable to avoid it as it careered back onto the track, dealing my front left corner a heavy blow. The car felt OK though, but there was damage showing on the front and the front left wheel, but then it mysteriously disappeared after about a half a lap. When the rain struck, though, I didn't notice any major collisions but not only did the damage re-appear, but I also had damage showing on the rear of the car AND the front right wheel (?!), which coupled with being on slicks in the rain made it damn near impossible to get to the pits.

Annoyingly, I ended up pitting at the start of the final lap for slicks and found myself 17s down on the leader, who had stayed out on full wets. I was catching him hand-over-fist though, but still managed to finish in 2nd, just 1 second behind. I like a good close race but this felt a bit... wrong. And that 1s deficit cost me about 330,000 Cr.

Couldn't wait to get home and buy the MP4/4 and try it out. Best 8 million credits ever. Really having fun just doing laps around different circuits!

This is from the first two laps I drove it around the Red Bull Ring. You 100% need to stick on some Racing Softs or you'll be just doing donuts half the time 🤣 The handling and sound and sheer down force is great and I love that the brakes are slower than modern cars, makes it feel more authentic!

"Fortunately" you only have to come up with 2,400,000 Cr. to clear the Gr.2 menu. I was afraid it would require at least 1 of the Hagerty's Gr.2 cars to complete.

For the Porsche Cup at Catalunya, I highly recommend the Cayman Clubsport - it is under 650 PP, and there's no restrictions on tire choice or race car status. I used it on the Plus account to great effect after not winning with the 997 and barely winning with the Taycan on the GTP account, even with an extreme case of attempted rubber-banding (all on normal)

That 100,000 Cr. the lowest possible from a 5-star.

Those rally cross races are extra chunky, though I didn't attempt to tune for them other than slapping on dirt tires. The GT-R NISMO should serve you well in the WTC600 event; the dirt tires take it just under 600 PP. If you're still struggling, get inside the AI in that last turn just before the finish line; it will slap the wall no matter how much room you leave them.

I ran another 'sim' race of the 1999 JGTC season at Suzuka - 30 mins/14 laps, and won again, but it was close this time.

It's pretty much the most realistic experience I can muster from a PS4 game, so I'm very happy with it already - even had a close battle with Hoshino's Calsonic GT-R until he ran wide and went off the track... cool to see the AI making unforced errors too :D

However there's a few issues that I'm noticing with Custom Races (over and above those already mentioned, esp. regarding Cr. for winning...)

1. The Honda NSX '08 has a larger fuel tank so it can go for longer without stopping. I'd dearly love to see all of the GT500 cars from the same era i.e. all of the '99 cars so make an ultra-realistic race.

2. Even on Pro difficulty, the AI has alot of bother with slower cars. I'm running 10 GT500s and 10 GT300s and it is great to have the realism of both classes, but boy are the GT300s slow. And in the last race, I managed to go from 5th to 2nd in one move as a train of three cars (2nd, 3rd and 4th place GT500s) were all queued up behind the 11th placed car, a GT300. Ironically, that GT300 was in the lead of his own class...

3. Rubber-banding makes for some pretty unrealistic lap times and ultimately makes the whole race feel a bit rigged. I'd love an option where there was absolutely zero fakery. The game is designed to generate close racing, which although that is what I enjoy, I don't actually want to 'win' these races... I want to see where I can place using each car, but rubberbanding is makes it a bit tricky. I also don't know if it's my imagination, but as well as the (obvious) rubberbanding of the AI cars (which invariably obliterate the lap record on the last lap of the race by several seconds...) I also suspect that there might be some rubberbanding applied to one's own driving. It's impossible to test, but I can often lap quite consistently, and then get an ultra quick lap while I'm approaching the leader - and conversely, I find it hard to hit a lap record when I'm in the lead.

Thanks, I was meaning to buy that anyway so I'll give it a go next time I'm on. I had to run the 911 GT1 with SH tyres and it was a handful - I was lapping fastest but inconsistent so mistakes didn't help, and I think it's geared for more open circuits anyway. Did you need to tune the Cayman at all or just slapped on some SS tyres and shoot for gold??

Absolutely no tuning is needed - the RH tires work just fine. Just spend your 350,000 Cr. and be on your merry way.

You should be able to get the money back at Sarthe, though you'll want to get some rain tires. I ran it there only once, in a wet race.

I can't speak to whether the 1.20 update messed things up at Sarthe as some have suggested, or if it works on hard difficulty; all of my racing is on normal.

All my racing is on Hard - I'll report back with my findings!

Did the new Catalunya races. Got 10k from a 3 Star. Bought the Judge and took the F1500-A for a few Laps around Red Bull.

Might do a Spa grind this weekend to get the McLaren and Mangusta

Tried to do the Dirt Champions race at Colorado Springs (the only event I haven’t golded in the World Circuits single player) and kept screwing up. 4 star ticket gave me a Pagani invite to car which I already have. The terrible hits keep coming with this game.

On the GTP account, I tried to see if the tire wear changes are just cosmetic or real by taking the Silvia Touring Car to Sarthe. Unfortunately, it was a soaking-wet race with rain starting before the 2nd lap was complete. I did confirm that damage is far easier to take, wrecking the engine after smacking the guardrail on lap 3 after hydroplaning...on intermediates...on the first attempt, and getting a flashing back bumper while grazing a different guardrail on the second, successful attempt. Still, it was an easy 2-stop (lap 2 for full wet tires, lap 5 for RH) 6-lap win

The 6-star marathon roulette gave me the Porsche VGT. At least I won't have to spend 1,000,000 Cr. on it when I transition from trying to complete the Hagerty's collection there to completing the Brand Central collection.

On the Plus account, after getting the GTO and the last UCD car I needed (the 1988 Countach) late last night (after I posted the daily update), and delaying for another day updating the PP of the cars I own, I took the stock Red Bull Junior (on RH tires) to Sarthe in a second attempt to see if the tire wear changes are just cosmetic or real. The race wasn't completely dry, it was dry enough that I didn't need to change tires when I came down on lap 5 while running flat out. I came closer to completing 7 laps inside of the 30-minute time limit than I ever had before.

My fast lap was the 7th and last lap by a significant margin over lap 4 (the 2nd-fastest lap), and within a half-second of ideal (which continued to drop in the last half of lap 7), even though the back tires were down to 1/3rd and the front tires were down to 2/3rds. Pre-1.20, RH tires worn down to that point would be next to useless. Further, I didn't feel any more degradation than pre-1.20. In my very-non-expert opinion, it's almost exclusively cosmetic; we just have to get used to tires having grip until the tread meter is at least almost empty rather than tires losing grip if there's more than a sliver of red.

The no-cash 4-star Wheel of Despair gave me a Porsche invite. Never mind I already have 2 Carrera GTs. I did have enough cash to get the Aston Martin VGT to complete my Aston Martin collection.

Finished buying all the invintation cars in every avialable color. :D I only had Porsche remaining and couldn't land that invitation for some reason, well...she finally landed!

On to every car (about 44 left to get) and then every car in every color. If there is room in the garage that is, haven't looked into it.

[Only one car of any type or color in GTS escapes my grasp. The 2011 Audi R18 "Dirty LeMans" livery car. I will find you, my pretty! What's most aggrevating is I had it and accidently deleted it thinking it was a dupe :banghead:]

Tuned and repainted all my late model road car BMW’s to run around 700pp. Just waiting on LCD to update so I’m piddling around with specific brands, especially those that don’t have their own series but should.

Been adding sports exhausts to all my cars. I like the backfire sound effect it usually gives.

I need credits for a certain F1 car, earned 2 million by doing the same content 3 times, AMAZING PD, 4 million to go. And screw PD for not providing more races to earn credits from, what a disaster.

Did LM700 grind. Went first to 18th at Sardegna 800 with the F1500TA, didn't changed the tyres and wanted to try if they'll last to the final lap...
Note to myself: change the bloody tyres when pitting for gas!!!

Had internet issues, caused me to have to redownload and install the game. Even though save was backed up to PS Plus, all my replays and photos in Showcase (that I hadn’t shared) are gone. Months of content.

Did the Gr 3 and Gr 4 Sport Races. My car choices were poor compared to what everyone else was running, I used the Silhouette and 86. Managed to gain a few positions due to connectivity problems and people spinning out. Now my count is up to 20,just 30 more to go for the trophy...

On the GTP account, I took the Praiano-tuned 962 C (which actually dropped in PP somewhat to 796.00) to Sardegna for what on the surface was another 1-stop stomping (field lapped, bottom 3 lapped twice). There were some differences from usual, however:
  • I had to change my RH tires on my lap 8 pit stop; the back tires were 3/4ths worn and I began to notice some increased loss of traction compared to before 1.20.
  • Fraga had to pit his Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept every 3 laps for RS tires. If memory serves, he had lasted at least 4 laps prior.
Before taking my 3-star Wheel of Despair, I decided to try and see if the game is now more sensitive to tunes. I created a new sheet and turned the ECU down to the same 87% Praiano's tune, fitted the racing transmission so I could duplicate the gear ratios, and duplicated the downforce, LSD and brake balance settings, which left me at 816.04 PP. As his tune doesn't use ballast or the engine limiter, the rest of the PP change is up to the suspension.

I then did a time trial on the A track the WTC 800 is run on, at 6:00 pm, with the same 12x tire wear/8x fuel consumption as the race (and grip reduction off-track set to real). As you can't refuel on a time trial, that turned into a bust, one as big as my low-showing 10,000 Cr. on the 3-star Wheel of Despair.

On the Plus account, I took the SC430 GT500 to Sardegna. I had to run rather slower than the run earlier this week to make the tires last 8 laps. On my first attempt, I hit the wall twice on lap 8 while running the same pace I did last time, and on my second, final one, I almost spun out in the last left-hander. It took 20 seconds longer this time.

The cashless 5-star Wheel of Despair gave me an Ultra High RPM Turbo for...wait for it...the GT-R Safety Car. Apparently the game forgot I bought the Countach out of the UCD (no car, and the credits that should have paid for it were still in my bank account), so I bought it "again", as well as the 2016 Audi R18.

My further thoughts on tire wear post-1.20 - with a stock setup, there is just a little additional wear, while customized setups are more affected.
