What did you do in GT7 today?

Made the mistake of buying the Porsche 917K. Had accumulated 29 million so I figured why not. Now I know why not. Handles like one of these when you’re trying to push it across a greasy fast food restaurant kitchen floor with worn out shoes that have no tread.View attachment 1184966
After 3 laps of spinning out at Sardegna I quit, grabbed the GT-R GT500 and got my miles in. Proceeded to win a whopping 5,000(!) credits from roulette to start rebuilding my bank.
The final license test gave me a glimpse of how crappy it would handle so luckily I didn't buy it.

It takes practice to drive these older cars. I personally like the challenge of driving these older prototype cars. But, different strokes for different folks. I’m not going to force you to do anything. Once they finally let us sell cars (whenever that will be), you could go ahead and sell it.

Agree with @BangsMcCoy about the 917K.

Only time I'd used it was during S-10 and I always wondered why I couldn't nail Blanchimont (always felt slippery so I assumed, although the meter suggested otherwise, that I wasn't following the dry-line). Now that I own it and have used it, I realise that it feels like it's always driving in the wet through sweeping corners. Skittish to say the least.

Practiced the next Nations Cup and Manufacturer's Cup races.

The SF19 at spa is a gamble on whether I make it 1 lap around without crashing or 3! Need to get that in order.
Driving with Nissan around Sardegna which isn't too bad but still need to get some pace and consistency.

Had a go at the last Toyota Gazoo Cup race for a laugh because... well it will be!

I improved my time at Dragon Trail (in the WRX Gr.4 this time; I am not using the meta car to beat my record). I am now at a 1:46.774, 2.1% within the world record. For a controller player, I am quite proud of that lap in the Scooby.

I also took my tuned 917K back to Le Mans to easily win the WTC700 race. Did not get any rain until lap 5 when I was forced to swap to the inters when a rainstorm hit. In stock form, the 917K is a handful, but with some frontward ballast it can be a great car.

I tried some experiments at Tokyo on the GTP account. The 2006 Viper is almost fast enough to pull off the win on normal difficulty, while the 2017 GT-R is too unpredictable stock. I ended up going to Old Reliable #2, the bespoilered Corvette C7.

After that, I grabbed the McLaren 650S GT3 for this week's WRS time trial, though I didn't put any laps on it because I was too busy putting the usual minimalist black livery on. The 4-star Wheel of Despair gave me a completely-worthless Citroen invite because I have all the invitation cars I could possibly want.

On the Plus account, I tried to fight fire with the 2017 NSX, but because it needs a set of tires even with SH tires, it couldn't get the job done. Neither could the DB11. To get the win, I went to my new go-to, the 2013 Viper, as it does it in under 27:40. I wrote a memo to myself to change the tires on the 8th-lap pit stop in the future.

The all-cash 3-star Wheel of Despair gave out the lowest-possible/lowest-showing 5,000 Cr. At least I got the worthless AMG VGT Racing Series to continue the 1,000,000-Cr. Brand Central logjam, while nothing I don't already own showed up in the UCD, and nothing at all showed up, or even sold out, in Hagerty's :yuck:. The one car I need out of the UCD, the 1988 Countach, is one of the 3 that has been out of circulation the longest, while it is unlikely any of the Hagerty's cars at/under 1,000,000 that I still need will be back in Hagerty's before Friday's price increases.

Not to argue, but yeah, I know, I have other older cars and by no means expect them to handle like modern day cars, but the 917K is on a whole other level for me. It’s right up there (maybe worse) than the swapped Miata. I fiddled around with its LSD settings some today and was back and forth between Car Settings and Time Trial testing it out at Sardegna and it just seems as though it can’t be tamed, much like the swapped Miata. I have the BRZ Drift car with 2x the power far more stable than this and it was intended to be used only for drifting. Now I wonder if this car was that much worse than it’s rivals in its day in real life or if PD really got this one wrong as far as handling goes.
I would honestly be happy if I could even get 50% back from this car by selling it.

I beat my previous time on my favorite License test. I never knew but thought this GTR had a V8 but it sounded like it. Looked it up and confirmed it does have a V8. PD should let us engine swap this into the production GTR.

I did a bit of farming at LeMans using the BMW VGT, tuned to 700pp. What a great car, superb balance. Sooo easy to drive.

I'm up to 25m credits now.

Oh, and won a Ferrari Tributo from the wheel of despair.

Bought the McLaren P1 GTR - the GTR bit didn't register, thought it was the road car and I could use it for the hypercar races.
Always read the description before spending 3.6 million, I guess.
It is quite fun in the 800pp races against the Gr.3s, but incredibly thirsty - need to detune or run it at FM6 to cut down on stops.
A bit more slidey than I was expecting as well - not as planted as the AM Vulcan (but more fun).

Hi,

Managed a 1:46:6xx in the Time Trial - I am stoked! Another few sessions and I hope I can get into the 1:45's.

<<< Feels very pleased with self :-)

Made some fresher skins ready for Nations and Manu races.... only to realise that in the actual races, the tyres are changed to Michelins 🤦‍♂️

At least this is how they should look for now.

The style is similar to my previous works, and 'Top scraps' is merely what my group of friends call ourselves when playing online. The sponsors are all related to something that I use or the car has on it.

I still need to practice more on Spa as i can't make more than 3 laps without spinning.

Wasted 40 ****ing minutes trying to do the 1hr Spa race. The ****ing radar doesn't show the clouds anymore so I got stuck TWICE out in the pouring rain only seconds after passing pit lane. No notification. Sun was out 10 seconds ago!

PD cant even get this **** right. The best paying race and its un ****ing playable because you get caught out with no rain notification. Disable this stupid rain **** or fix the ****ing radar.

About to quit the ****ing game I'm so pissed right now.

Last night I made three Gr4 cars, RX7, 300ZX and GTR. Will race them tonight at Le Mans and see if I can win three races for a big payout.

If you watch old video of those cars and even current videos at Rennsport or similar vintage events, you would see these cars are a handful. I actually like that they are difficult to drive in game as PD could have taken the lazy way out and made them handle like new race cars, which would suck.

That said, these cars need their own races where they are paired with period correct rival cars. Racing these against anything newer is bound to frustrate and piss people off.

Indeed I was driving the Boss 429 without aids and kept skidding out. Eventually I aced the throttle control but never could ace the braking. Later on I had asked my dad who is a mustang fan and he confirmed they are a handful at times. So I enjoy that such difficulty is replicated.

Yes, that car too is tough to get right but it's enjoyable once you do. I like the challenge of cars not being spot on. GT has always been about working n different set-ups and experimenting with what is good, and what is better.

Are you sure that you have zoomed out that weather map? In the in zoomed view the rain must appear in seconds indeed. 😅

Started a road car time trial at the Nurburgring (GP). Stock tyres (SH in most cases) - so far Lamborghini LP640, Carrera GT, LaFerrari and Enzo (more to come).

This is one of my favourite things to do in GT. Trying to get the best out of a road car on sport tyres really highlights the intricacies of the physics models and the differences between the individual cars.

On the GTP account, I took the Silvia Touring Car to Sarthe for an easy 1-stop win. I then did some WRS laps at Bathurst. The 4-star Wheel of Despair gave its usual lowest-possible 10,000 Cr., which should be enough for the Judge, the Cayman, and the Dior livery/suit/helmet.

On the Plus account, I wanted another crack at an 8-lap Sarthe with the Red Bull Junior, but the weather turned weird. It didn't start raining until lap 4, and it took just a half-lap for the track to get more than 2/3rds wet. Still, I took a win, and a second LS9 Corvette engine from the 4-star marathon roulette. Maybe we'll see the Countach out of the UCD tomorrow night; there's a heap of sold-out cars, and the Countach and the R8 are the two that have been gone the longest.

I didn't complain about the handling, I merely agreed with the other posters thoughts on it.

That it's skittish but I wasn't able to truly gauge the car's handling because I'd only used it during S-10 and that I wasn't sure that was a true representation of the car's handling owing to the dampness + slicks.

Having now used it on a dry track I realise that the dampness has nothing to do with the difficulty of Blanchimont, more the handling.

For what it's worth, it's decent through most corners but high-speed sweepers and lack of downforce make for challenging handling characteristics.
