What did you do in GT7 today?

Last night I did 2 daily races A, first one was kind of dirty but I managed to finish were I started : 3rd. Same result on the second race but with much more fair-play opponents (except the dirty guy who tried to squish me in the barrier while I had a better exit speed in the turn before the tunnel, which ended up in passing him on the line with 0.1s despite his attempt to block me). Tried the TT on Barcelona too... lot of work to do, got a bronze time but 54k position in the world... I'll try again tonight and have a look at the cars used by everyone, to see if there is a meta.

I bought the Epson GT500 NSX 08' and oh boy, is it disappointing! I don't know where the 793PP come from but even with medium tires its slower than any of my 730-ish Group 3 cars on HARD tires, usually with a 1.5-2 second lead on medium length tracks. I messed around with its settings but it did not get any better.
Total waste of credits.

Er, I don't know what to tell you - but if you're losing out in a Gr.2 car to a Gr.3 car (on worse tyres) the problem is what's behind the wheel.

The '08 Gr.2 cars are generally the go-to easiest recommendation for beating the WTC800 events. Far superior to the Gr.3 cars in every way, and don't need to be detuned to meet the limits. You've definitely got a ways to go to meet the limits of it.

I'm an experienced driver, I drive only on high difficulty with a trustmaster wheel, pedals and manual shifting - the NSX really is an outlier for me, in a negative way. For example with my fully tuned Corvette C6 tuner I lap Grand Valley with lap times around 1:44 with 768PP on racing hard tires, with the NSX on MEDIUM tires the fastest I can do is 1:46:500-1:47. Its a GT2 car losing to a tuner car.

The car has pretty subpar corner speed even though its massive down force, its extremely slow on the straights because of its downforce drag). The only good thing about it is it brakes to a dead stop at an instant. Reducing rear downforce and playing around with camber, differential and toe did not help but made it even slower for me.
The CLK GT-R and my McLaren F1 tuned down to 800PP totally destroy it too. For me it feels more like 725-ish PP

I'm gonna record a video when I've got time

This car is definitely the worst of the Gr.2 for me. The newer model is on par with the other Gr.2 cars though.

Yesterday, I completed all the Americas CE's, not golded. I already had all gold in Sport, and I don't want to push myself to do them again for 7...

Today was a fun catchup on GT7, raced my Murcie LP640 on a grind on Lemans, was very fun to see it only last two laps before having to pit constantly shredding it's tyres and horrible fuel economy. But being tactile, I did prevail and netted 825,000cr.

Bought the Carrera RS as I wanted to try the oldy goldy '73 version. I modded it and seem to make it look uglier as I didnt reliase to edit decals, so lost the original look of the carrera wording decal on the side. May have to restore the livery later.

Lastly, did some historic racing on Grand Valley highway with my corvette '62 stingray, gotta love this car and reminds me of how good it was in GT1. But now it super accurate and photorealistc looking so that awesome, lol.

Then I modded it to look like Letty's Corvette from Fast 8 because why not lol, gave it 748hp and did burnouts over at Laguna seca and some TT laps. Amuricaaaaa!!!!

On the GTP account, I ground Sardegna with the stock Corvette Gr.3. The workout parts ticket gave a carbon driveshaft for the 2016 Aston Martin DB11.

On the Plus account, it was the Lexus RC F's turn at the Grindy Double. I chose the 2017 GT3 for the Sardegna half. It's not particularly fast - most no-traffic laps were 1:44 - but it will go 6 laps on fuel and probably would go 9 laps on tires. Even with a 2-tire change strategy, it was good enough for the win.

Surprisingly, I didn't get a 3-star Wheel of Despair - I got a 4-star Wheel of Despair, which gave me not the lowest-possible 10,000 Cr., but the lesser of 2 cars, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 (which I won for the second time in 15 days). I hung onto it for now.

I took on the Catalunya Time Trial in the 911 RSR, it took me 2 hours to Gold it with a 1:41.987. I use the G923 and although I have the Truebrake mod installed I do wonder how much better I’d be with a load cell as it’s definitely the braking I have trouble with.
I also had a go at Daily Race C where I surprisingly started on pole only to succumb to pressure on the last lap so finished 2nd , I was so gutted as it would have been my 1st win for a few months.

Ran the Lexus RC F GT500 at Spa. Thats a fantastic car, btw. If you have the means, I highly suggest picking one up. Did some grinding at Tokyo and at Sargegna. Not really feeling any urge to buy a 20M credit car, so I've been spending my credits on buying paint. Yep, you know things are getting bleak when you are bragging about buying all the paint colors in the game... but this weekend I've just about bought out all the paint. I still need to grind another 900k credits to finish up buying the rest of the blacks and whites from the "real car paint" category and I will own them all. I haven't run the math on it, but I'm guessing there is about 4.5M credits of paint in the game. Although, once I'm done with this all the liveries are going to be a lot less expensive.

Protip:

Set Boost to Mild and tyre wear on for custom races, weirdly it actually removed all the bs and makes the Ai lightning quick.

A decent example is Tokyo Expressway with Gr.1 & BoP, you'll have a blast.

The Ai is actually really good in GT7, but none of the races let it be.... (Boost Mild unlocks the chains, ironically they barely have any boost at all, just all the slowdowns & hand-holding removed)

Thank me later.
(no but really, reply to this after you try it...
I'll be waiting.

Finished off the Grand Valley and Alsace curcuit experiences and started Deep Forest. The R8 LMS Evo is not my friend, struggling with sector 2, particularly the last turn before the long straight. Best shot was .249 with .200 needed, but the last ten tries or so were never that close.

Didn't have much time, so I just headed to Sardegna with the McLaren F1 Gr.3 to recoup some of the eye-watering costs of purchasing the Ferrari 330 P4 and 250 GT Berlinetta the night before (took me down to 400k credits...). Nice, easy win in the F1.

The wheel of (mild) fortune was kind and gave me 500k credits. It's like it pitied my measly credit balance or something and knew I'm eyeing out the McLaren MP4/4 next and only have a few days to raise the necessary funds!

Then took the aforementioned 250 GT to Grand Valley to stretch its legs against some similar-aged machinery. It really is a pretty car.

Finally golded that annoying S10 license. Haven't tried it in a very long time. Last time I did it I struggled to get within 2 seconds of gold and thought that was it and I didn't bother anymore. Decided to go back to it with some renewed determination and within an hour of trying I beat the sucker. Also completed the first mission and earned a couple of trophies.

Tried to get bronze last week (and did it without too much trouble) but the final stage... was a nightmare, and I am so far from gold time, and that car that wants to send you to the shadow realm for the least bit of tyre touching some wet parts of the track...
Made me lose any faith that I'll be able to gold it anytime 😓

Interesting, maybe this will make me boot up GT7 after months of not playing. Would you say it works well for stock road cars too? I know the AI love understeering into the wall with those usually...

I dont mind rubberbanding AI, but at least the default setup for sim-racer-likes is "zero" obviously ;)

The AI in custom races uses the tyres your cars come with upon purchase (comforts anyone?), even on a SSRX this puts them on a disadvantage (slight) right from the roling start.

Keep chipping away at it. What worked for me was not trying to get it done in 1 sitting because It frustrated me to no end. I took a stab at it 2 months after the game was released and I managed to get bronze fairly easily. A month later I gave it another go and got silver by the smallest of margin so I was still very far from gold. Stopped playing for a little while then ai went back and gave it another go and got the time down to 2 second from gold. It took me nearly 4hrs of sit time to get to that point and that was when I thought I would never do it and basically gave up (that was 3 months ago). Then last night I gave it another go again and surprisingly every lap I managed to complete I kept improving and within an hour of playing I nailed it completing a total of 7 laps with many retry in between.

Since the launch of PSVR2 and the fact that it isn't available where I live (if ever) I'm having trouble just wanting to play the game.

- Decided to just do short, fun races until I got my daily prize.

- Found that my '78 Trans Am's livery had somehow partially vanished. FFFFFF.

- Made a new livery.

- Did a few races in various cars.

- Got my 4* prize.

- Connecting rods for some car. BRZ maybe.

- FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

Did a couple Tokyo's with the AMG, tastes like grinding but not too boring. It allowed me to get back the money I poured in the car and its parts, plus advance toward the 8M I want for the MP4/4.

The legendary cars trophy will be long to reach, not sure I won't stop playing until that time.

Did some grind races, nothing special. Got my daily roulette ticket, which resulted into my 5th Ferrari 458 Italia '09 engine.
**** that system. 5 out of 8 engine tickets with the same engine. I didn't know I could hate a system more than the GTS one, but here it is. Very very unrewarding.

On the GTP account, I ground Sarthe with the Red Bull Junior for the race cash. The all-too-usual 3-star Wheel of Despair puked up the low-showing 10,000 Cr.

On the Plus account, I sent the Lexus RC F Gr.4 to Sarthe. It doesn't quite have the range to make it 4 laps - I ran out of fuel after the Corvette Curves on lap 4, and the tires are very iffy for a 7-lap run (I changed them during my lap 4 stop), but it's fast enough for an easy win.

Good news - for the second day in a row, I didn't get a 3-star Wheel of Despair. Bad news - it was a 4-star Wheel of Despair for the lowest-possible 10,000 Cr.
