I can't remember if I forgot to do a post yesterday or not, so anyhow, over the past two days I bought
- Third Golf I GTI '83 at the Used Lot, plus
- A112 Abarth '85
- Second Dino 246 GT '71 (!)
- 2x additional Silvia Q's '88
- Third NSX Type R '02
- Porsche 356 GS Carrera '56 at Hagerty's, plus
- Ferrari F50 '95
- Ford Mark IV Race Car '67
I also popped a four star ticket and won a Dodge Hellcat Safety Car, which wasn't bad.
Then I did the Tomahawk Chop on Blofeld, with some additional racing with Lamborghinis. I was going to try a Porsche 997 Tuesday, but the Diablo caught my eye, and I washed it and hadn't done a thing with it yet. So off to the tune shop we went, where I souped it up into a 599PP monster, or so I hoped. At GT Auto I applied a bit of a tuner livery, which I tweaked a bit the following day.
Years ago, I saw a photo of a Diablo in a golden ochre, and ever after thought it was the perfect color for the Italian Stallion - er, Raging Bull. I managed to get a color I liked on it, but the chocolate graphics I applied seemed a bit too strong, so I tried white, which was okay, but I wanted a more subtle contrast. I settled on a darker ochre which came out kind of a caramel color, but suited it well, though I forgot to change the WTC500 custom logo.
It proved to be a capable if sometimes twitchy car, and it required a few do overs to get past some oversteer wallbang penalties. I ended up doing four races with it as it was a fun car to guide through curves and between opponents. I came in second to Blofeld the first race, but then won the following three. I closed off the day with a Tomahawk run on him to have some fun with the evildoer.
Yesterday I changed a few things on the livery. I also noticed that Praiano had a tune which involved two stage weight reduction, which I managed to modify a bit with more power than his milder 330ish, and a few tweaks to suspension and LSD to suit my style. Here are some pics of the little devil at work.
Initially, even with around 360hp I had trouble working through the pack, but I stuck with her and managed to gradually make some progress. Igor and Mikail in their respective chariots were a bit of a handful at first, but I reeled them in around turns and surpassed them. Naturally, Blofeld and S'willo were way too far ahead to test their mettle, but I'm sure they would show me up handily. Then after drafting my way through the field for a few laps, and some helpful pitting from the others, it was time to wrangle with Rose towards the end in her capable RE Amemiya-tuned RX-7.
Me passing her at the peak turn.
Her passing me back in the tunnel...
Back n forth it went for a while until she had to pit on lap 11, and I was alone in first for the last two. I used fuel map 1 the whole race, and with some short shifting and long gear use, I didn't have to pit once. What a lovely car.
Then I switched to the Tomahawk for a couple of races, since I'd spent myself down to about 7 million, and needed to build up some funds for upcoming "bargains" at Hagerty's and the Dealerships. Rose was accommodating, though I was a little rusty at first and accrued a few penalties, and a few tail end smashes when I wasn't mindful of traffic which earned me some chastisement from her. The last race, I had edged up beside her on the last lap after teasing her to race faster, staying just a few car lengths in front. But going down into the tunnel I was reminding her that Grady in his Audi R8 was just behind us, which she shrugged off. Then as I was flirting with her, I let slip a little something about marriage, and her speed dropped quite a lot. I tried to edge her closer to the wall, but Grady slid past her before I could shut that door. Rose didn't seem to mind at all.
James has been grumping that he thinks the Aston DB5 isn't quite right, as he had better luck dealing with Goldfinger's henchmen years ago. I reminded him that he lost a game of chicken against a mirror in which he wall-pitted himself. This earned me a typical Bond razzing, as he reminded me how much I hated Tokyo until I
finally came to terms with it. Meh, know-it-all. I think Felix is on board with this thing, so hopefully we can give our friend from Universal Exports Ltd a run for his shillings.
