What do you think is the best front-wheel-drive sedan in the world.

We've all heard about sport sedans: M5's, S-Type R's, RS6's, WRX's, and EVO's. But they're all rear-or-all wheel drives, but what about front-wheelers? 3.2 TL Type S, Maxima, Altima, Accord, Mazda6, Vectra, etc. What do you think is the cream of the crop among FWD sport sedans?

My choices:
-Acura 3.2 TL Type-S
-Mazda6 s
-Nissan Maxima SE
-Honda Civic SiR (a Civic Si w/ four doors) [Asian market only]

Without a doubt, Acura TL Type-S.

The runner up is the Maxima SE 6 Spd. but it hasn't had as much suspension and chassis refinement. And I haven't heard as much praise about it's 6 Spd as I have about the Acura's apparently silken smooth 6 Spd.

As for the engines, I am at a complete toss up. The Maxima has a 3.5L V6 with 255hp and 250 ft-lbs whereas the Type-S has a 3.2L with 260hp and 232 lb-ft of torque. I know that I like high revvers but torque is good, although not on a FWD car. So I choose the 3.2l 260hp V6

It has also come to my attention that the TL is not offered with a 6 Spd; only the CL has a 6 Spd. which is a 2 door coupe not a sedan, so I would choose the Maxima.

But I rather wait for the next gen Maxima and TL in not so distant future.

Hmmm, a Honda battle here, TL Type-S (Inspire/Saber in JDM) or Accord Euro-R (JDM)/Type-R (Euro) ?

The 94 SHO didnt have a Yamaha V-8. It had a Yamaha V-6. The V-8 didnt come till 1996 when the Taurus got its facelift.

'91 4 banger camry, no doubt.

id probably go along with....uh....hmm....they all suck. if it doesnt have power through the rear bags at some point, its crap.

Vauxhall vectra.

Id say the ford mondeo ST220, but thats just my warped eurobuilt ford lovin opinion.

You are just sooo lucky that im too tired to give you a stereotype. :P

Have you seen the new Vectra?
Worst.
Vectra.
Ever.

Well to be honest its never been a particularly good lookin car.

1988-1992 626 GT 4WS

A rare bunch of 626 GTs had 4 wheel steering. I'd pick that, too bad the car has a truck engine(came out of the B-series and was turbocharged(anyone see a possible project here? :) )).

I'd definatly go with the 6S, my dad, who is skeptical about anything with Ford parts or even Ford influence, liked it a ton and that's good enough for me.

I'm seriouly surprised that someone who can legally drive such as yourself would say this car. For a car advertised to be a 'drivers car' it sure is outdated and crappy.

The answer to the question -
- Nissan Altima 3.5SE:
YES! It's an incredible car. I owned one for some time and stupidly gave it up for various reasons. The only downside is the turning circle (about the same as the Ponitac Montana's turning circle )
- Mazda6; the quick version
Just about as good as the Altima; maybe better. Rapid transport at its finest. Easy to forget it's a family car, apparently. I'm not big on the wagon's looks.
- Toyota Camry/Ford Taurus
Boring as crap. But they sell well. And why shouldn't they? They're so fackin' normal. Reliable, too. And, until this year for the Camry and 1996 for the Taurus, understated and non-dramatic in the style department.
- Nissan Maxima SE
Finally gets the recognition it deserves, but too late! The Altima's already overshadowing it. Same thing's happening over at Audi with the A4/A6. Who'd buy a GLE when you've got the SE to choose from? According to Nissan, 90% of sold Maximas are SE.

For FWD Sedans I like the Gran Prix GTP and the Bonenville SEE. Supercharged V-6 are nice and have some nice power. Either those two cars or the 300M is nice.

The Mazda MP3.

It slaloms at over 70mph, which is faster than a Z06, 911 Turbo, and a Lancer EVO VII.

If that's not good handling, I don't know what is.

The MP3 has superb handling, and the MazdaSpeed Protege has the same handling with a good amount more power.

Still 170hp is not enough, if it was around 190 it would be the best in it's class and probably car of the year.

I'm very dissapointed in you Doug. You know the C70 T5 rules!

Does the S80 T6 classify as a sports sedan?

Even volvo understands it better than Chris... though 'C' probably stands for coupe/convertible, and 'S' might stand for 'Saloon.'

Nah - Quattro AWD is optional. Standard models were front-wheel drive, which is why they never stacked up as well as they could have against the RWD competitors from BMW. That and the range only had two engines.

My mom drives a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T FWD. It is black and looks awesome but I dont like it. It only has a pathetic 150hp and is really slow. My Dad wants her to get rid of it and get a Jaguar but she loves Audi's alot. She kind of likes the X-Type but any true Jaguar enthusiast (My Dad) doesn't like those at all. Althoug the S-Type has been growing on him lately.
