Add all race types and customization options found in Need for Speed Underground 2, along with city, mountainous, gymkhana, and freeway locations for free roam and custom track creations with cutting edge simulation physics, after market parts (including tinted windows and underglows), and you got yourself a winner.
- Slightly more challenging (GT6 was way too easy) and creative licenses that are compulsory.
- New but Different disciplines of racing: ie autocross (easy to model a parkade, cone layouts are the tricky bit) point-2-point, duel, capture the flag, touge for the win!
- Improvement of physics and models. Ie Engine Aspiration model, better drivetrain simulation and most of all, AI
- GREATER SENSE OF SPEED, with sounds too...
- Livelier tracks and environments
- PD should get creative, not just with UI but even their fantasy tracks and features like GT Auto.
- Your usual race penalties and standing starts.
- Damage along with wear and tear
- A tailor made soundtrack for the UI and menus
- Premium cars only however some significant standards must make the cut. Also a more balanced car selection should do the trick.
- Listening to their community, communicating with them and responding to feedback accordingly
Lastly...
- NO MICRO-TRANSACTIONS AND LOCKED DLC
GT doesn't need to be mad hardcore like PCARs and some other simulators. It should have it's own charm but still pertain to realism.
This is my 2 cents.
Proper AI that races you and has a mind of their own.
A better career mode that uses all cars and has endurance races.
Like a Lupo cup and a Beetle Cup and a Formula GT championship like Formula 1 with championships involving endurance races like a GT3 championship with the 24 hours of Nurburgring.
Multi Class Racing like the WEC but with the GT3 cars replacing the GTE cars or the same with a ELMS series.
Larger variety of cars and manufacturers. E.g. Dallara is not represented at all and they create Spec formula cars like the GP2/11, GP3/13 and the DW12.
Larger offline grids. Project CARS has about 50 max so this is possible. 25 would be satisfactory.
Larger online grids. 20-25 would be satisfactory
Livery editor with layers and standard shapes like is in Forza.
Increased setup options to refine any area and then increased options for each corner of the car.
Improved physics to allow cars to become more lifelike.
Improved net code to reduce the issues of invisible cars and lag.
Increased extrernal parts options like window netting and a roll cage.
Ability to make a road car look like a race car with sponsors and improved external and internal parts like a roll cage, a custom wheel and made up/real sponsors.
Ability to tailor a road car to race car regulations E.g. A BMW 135i Coupe to a DTM, Super GT, BTCC, WTCC etc.
B-Spec that is useful to the completion of the game like in GT5 or the ability to use B-Spec and A-Spec in endurance races.
Online B-Spec lobbies to allow people to use B-Spec and/or A-Spec in a lobby and force the use of multiple drivers.
Shuffle Racing because we all love it!
New tracks like Ovals and other race tracks.
New fantasy tracks as they have a lot of variety to them.
Course maker to allow us to create tracks.
Ability to create ovals in the course maker as there are few ovals.
Event generator because the career mode may be too easy or boring.
Communication with the community to implement new features and tweak existing features.
More realistic damage model which has punctures, body damage, wheels coming off etc.
Proper penalty system which has warnings to disqualifications to penalise poor driving.
Safety Car system to prepare racers more and it makes races more fun.
Rolling start on all tracks. I don't mean force it, I mean having the option of 2 by 2 and 1 by 1.
Improved sounds which will improve sense of speed.
Improved sense of speed via sounds and car handling.
Improved Motorsports recognition with licenses for seasons to increase cars and tracks. Could be the BTCC, WTCC or the DTM or Aussie V8s or Super GT.
More useful HUD which displays fuel as a number and gaps to the drivers ahead and comparisons to our own times.
Return of real and fantasy tracks like Sonoma and Seattle.
Increased representation of oval racing via Indycars and ovals.
Increased representation of North and South American tracks. Especially South America and Canada with tracks like Interlagos and Mosport. Watkins Glen would be nice.
Increased Asian representation of tracks. I mean outside Japan like the Chang International Circuit and Macau etc.
Increased Eastern European representation of tracks like Brno and the SlovakiaRing for example.
Improved Seasonals. Adding a positional based reward system which gives credits and real rewards for some seasonals.
Improved Quick Matches with track rotation and having community created quick matches. Using Shuffle Racing would work well and some party games maybe?
AI, sounds, physics, variety of cars (similar to Forza series), greater sense of speed, sense of danger when racing you car so that you can't relax for a second, the random events like cars spinning or crashing similar to Grid series.
Oh, it needs to be really different than what GT5 and GT6 felt like. It needs to feel like an entirely new game but at the same time feels familiar to the series we know.
Everything they put into GT7, they need to be asking themselves "is this the most fun we could make it?" Then ask "how could we make it even more fun?"
Cars are fun. Racing cars is fun. Modifying cars is fun. Painting cars is fun.
It doesn't matter how many cars they have, how flashy the graphics are, or how good the sounds are as long as it's fun. Of course, those things might help too. But I think if you go into it thinking about how you're going to have lots of cars and the best graphics instead of thinking about how those things add to the fun, that's how you end up with GT5 and GT6. All flavour, no savour.
What do you think the upcoming PS4 Gran Turismo needs in order to be the absolute best Gran Turismo game, highest rated GT and best selling GT,
Currently Gran Turismo 3 is the highest rated GT and the best selling GT.
Here's a video of my favorite GT games in order.
I think GT4 is the best simply because it offers the most content and a lot new features that the series needs, the menu is amazing and the soundtrack is great, however, GT6 physics are without a doubt the best the series has ever seen.
So what do you think the game needs the most?
What do reviewers pay attention to the most?
What do consumers pay attention to the most?
1, Sound. Snap, crackle and pop. like this
2, More realistic hud dash and be able to move it around.
3, make two games one for pro drivers on a par with Assetto corsa and one for the casual gamer.
4, adjustable cockpit view
5, surprise me!
Consistent quality, not just quality here and there.
Track count is already good, so just add a few of the most missed ones and upgrade the rest of them to make them look PS4-worthy, and add full day/night cycles to all of them along with weather.
Car count is decent already, even if you only count premiums. However, the variety among these premiums leaves much to desired. I'd like a greater variety of premium cars. Some combinations of decades and manufacturers have very few premiums.
I want the classic GT career mode, although much longer than we have seen in recent years, but also a more "realistic" career mode, where you don't buy your own cars, but get hired by "teams", based on your performance in other leagues, and these teams focus on certain believable (doesn't have to be carbon copies of real life) racing series. When you get to a certain skill level, you might eventually have several different teams that are interested in hiring you, and will be able to select the ones that appeal the most to you. This could actually give you more replay value in the single player mode, as you could replay the game and select other teams and get a very different career progression.
Much more livery and customisation options.
Much better AI, 24 or more cars on track in both single player and multiplayer.
Constant 60fps 1920x1080.
Improved physics, of course, both when it comes to car-track interaction, and in how the car's engine power is generated (such as proper functionality of turbos, and power limiters).
Much more options for advanced tuning, stuff that requires you to really know what you're doing. Not just parts that come with a single setting.
Fully customisable cameras. Positioning, field of view, shake, etc.
Aside from a better career mode here is what it would need to be the perfect GT:
Tracks: All GT6 tracks and Grindelwald, SSR11, Smokey Mountain, Zolder, Imola, Complex String and Tahiti Maze
Cars: Spreadsheet Attached
Misc: Better sounds and sense of speed
AI: AI that is much faster than it currently is
Online: An invite function please!
Career: Mission Races, Special Conditions, 5 different halls with at least 10 events in each, manufacturer and region based events and seasonals
Features: All that are in GT6 and Course Maker AT LAUNCH
Car list is still WIP. Only done down to Chaparral so far.
This doesn't cover specific improvements for GT7, but bare with me:
Though the odds are highly unlikely, Polyphony would have far greater success with Gran Turismo 7 if they were to seek assistance from other companies. I'm thinking along the lines of Evolution studios, the devs behind Driveclub. Yeah, it would probably wreck the idea of Polyphony's approach of 'hand crafting' each of their games, but when we consider just how massive Gran Turismo has become as a series, the only logical direction would be to bring in extra hands to help with the development. They are doing this already by employing more people, but I can't help but feel the likes of Evolution studios would be the perfect match.
Evolution Studios are a talented bunch in the visual and sound department. In addition, they seem to invest well in DC's car selection. I can imagine the 60 or so cars in DC making an appearance in Gran Turismo. That would certainly spice up the more modern selection of cars in the game. so why don't Sony pair them together, or at least share resources?
It's probably just me, but Evolution seems to release content for Driveclub very consistently. The Driveclub DLC is very very good. It's this continuous flow of content which we desperately need to experience with a Gran Turismo game. Another good reason why Sony should bring the two together.
Just think of it. Gran Turismo 7 could have near enough the sound and visuals of Driveclub, but with far more realistic physics, far more cars and far more tracks. And to top that off, they could take a page from Motorstorm for its crash physics, aside from cars exploding that is...
Yes, this is mad, and like I said, highly unlikely, but in an ideal world, the talents of both PD and Evolution would be combined to make the ultimate racing game.
Doesn't mean to say I'm not optimistic about GT7. I am all the same, but one can only dream of what isn't exactly an impossibility.
Here are some ideas just floating around in my head. Note that these are not in any particular order, and do not cover everything I'd like to see in GT7. I also do not expect to see all of this in the next title as well. Probably best to keep this as a wish list for the time being.
SOUND: The number one thing that seems to be on everybody's list is sound. While some engine sounds are great for certain cars, most just fall flat. Not a flat-6, but you get it. With the new sound capturing method being used, hopefully PD doesn't compress and digitize the sounds too much. With the PS4's resources, this shouldn't be an issue. UPDATE: With the recent acquisition of Mike Caviezel, a former Forza Sound Designer, this looks very promising.
PHYSICS: Probably my biggest personal area. The physics of the series has no doubt been improved with each installation. I can see no reason as to why this can't continue going into the next generation of consoles, being extremely realistic.
GRAPHICS: In my opinion, the graphics look amazing in GT6. All that GT7 needs is a few touch-ups here and there. The only thing I would like to see is a return to replays in 60 FPS (at least for the TV style angles). I miss this feature as the replays in GT5 and GT6 seem more dull to me than previous installments due to the FPS limit. I can understand why they did this, but it does need to be addressed in their new title. This probably is the least area that needs touching up. This doesn't include standard cars (see "PREMIUM VS STANDARD" below).
A.I.: The A.I. between GT5 and GT6 has been improved, except for the whole slowing down when the player is within a certain distance during a turn. I have notice that the A.I. handles better when interacting with the player, going as far as utilizing a defensive line when you are behind them. That's cool!
CAR SELECTION: The car selection has improved, but would like to see more variety in say the Grand Touring (i.e. GTE, GT1, GT2, maybe GTC), Prototype (i.e. P1, P2, maybe PC), or V8 Supercars categories, as well as some other areas. Just please stop bombarding us with electric or hybrid cars (unless they have actual racing implications i.e. the TS030). You guys have been doing a great job thus far.
TRACK SELECTION: The track selection has also improved as the series went on, and still continues to this day. However, I'd like to street circuits (i.e. Madrid, Rome, Cote d'Azur) implemented more properly to look like a proper street circuit. I'd say look at real world locations, such as Long Beach, Adelaide, Bell Isle, and the real Monaco, and use them for references.
PREMIUM VS STANDARD: While PD has done away with separating the Premiums form the Standards, the fact is they still exist, and have been a high point of debate for many users. While I personally don't mind this, I find having standard, PS2 (and sometimes PSP) quality vehicles on the next gen systems a bit...odd. I would like to see, at the very least, standard cars reaching semi-premium quality, then reaching full Premium quality, eventually. I understand that there is a ton of work to to bring them to this standard, but if PD wants to include over 1000 cars in their game, then they need to step up and deliver. EDIT: It appears that a "greater number of premium cars" are going to be included in GT7. This, however, does not rule out the possibility of Standard Cars though.
WEATHER AND TIME: Weather and time changes have been in the game since GT5, bringing a whole new dynamic to the series. This has been a huge welcome of mine, but would like to see it carry over to all applicable tracks, as indoor tracks don't need these features. I also see that ambient temperature being used as well, just need to bring in track temperature as well.
CUSTOMIZATION: We've seen customization of vehicles improve over the life of GT6, all for the better. I never expected custom gauges, but hey, it works! We would, however, like to see it deepened even further, bringing our favorite cars to racing standards (the job can be done rather well as it is), including livery editing, as well as engine and drive-train swaps. While there are a couple of theories I can think of as to why the livery editor isn't available yet (mostly involving system limitations and standard cars), it needs to be implemented by GT7.
CAREER MODE: The career mode is in serious need of an overhaul, maybe going as far as to having seasons, such as in other sports games, with races being held on certain dates. You should be able to race any race during that calender period, provided you have the right car and/or the proper invitation. Maybe start the player off by having him/her drive for a team until he/she can afford to make their own team. Maybe that's too involved, but just a couple of ideas. EDIT: Project Cars has actually implemented this idea and I'm loving it so far. Makes you feel like you are part of a series, rather than some random race with a couple of random Joes.
QUALIFYING: Why oh why did you guys remove this feature? It's only available in online sessions. This needs to be brought back to the career mode, as well as certain seasonal events. You can always opt out to give yourself a challenge if you want, but I would like to see it return.
ROLLING START: The rolling start has been in the series since GT4 (I believe) but it's not implemented well in GT6. It needs to be improved with double file type starts included. You just don't get those exiting lap 1, turn 1 moments like you can get in online races (cleanly) in the offline career mode. Also, races earlier on in your career should probably be standing starts to begin with, then move over to rolling starts.
PENALTY SYSTEM: While a penalty system exists in GT6, it's primitive at best. This needs to be re-worked to better simulate the real world systems. Probably start with a certain series, then work from there.
FLAG SYSTEM: The only thing we see with this is the martial at the Start/Finish line waving the checkered flag, which is a very nice touch. However, implementation of a full system (you know, the green, yellow, double yellow, yellow with red stripes, red, blue, black, black with orange circle, white, checkered flags, etc.) can greatly enhance the experience of the game. And for those who don't want it, you can simply turn them off. I'd also like to see dynamic Marshals posted throughout each circuit.
PIT SERVICE: I think it's time to bring in manual pit control to the series. Maybe bring in different pit rules per series?
TRACKS: The track list for Gran Turismo has been growing ever so impressive. So I am hoping to see this trend continue! As for the accuracy, needs work in some areas (i.e. the unnecessary tire barriers at Daytona Road Course). We've also seen PD bring back some of our all time favorite courses in an HD standard. That's awesome! Just keep doing that as well!
DAMAGE MODELLING: The damage modelling is another area that needs improvement. Visual damage is a must, but mechanical damage is even more so. Damage to certain parts of the car should also be progressive (i.e. tire punctures, and yes, they exist in GT5 and GT6, just not very well). Engine damage should be also affected by certain other factors. Flat spotting a tire should be introduced as well. Damaging out should also be a possibility. EDIT: Looks like this issue is being addressed for GT7, as Kazunori Yamauchi has pointed out in a recent interview. Yay!
DYNAMIC TRACK SURFACING: While certain tracks are dynamic as far as weather is concerned, they can also benefit from other dynamic features as well, such as track rubbering and track side marbles.
ONLINE FEATURES: The online features have been improved for GT6, with some nice community features. Just work on adding more. However, the actual implementation of racing online can be frustrating sometimes. In other words, I'd like to see an improvement of the net code used in the series. And less incompatibility issues.
POINTLESS OR OTHERWISE NOT NECESSARY FEATURES: Things like a GPS Visualizer is an awesome idea, the truth is not very many people are going to have access to this feature, making it only available to a very select few. Less time developing these features and more time on the game itself can vastly improve development time in other areas such as improving the physics model, or even bringing some standard cars to at least semi-premium standard. The Moon Based Missions were an unnecessary touch, though.
PORSCHE LICENSE: Bringing Porsche into the series officially for the first time (not including the one found in GT3) would seriously benefit this series. If not, then update the RUF roster. Seriously, why hasn't the RUF roster been updated since before GT5?
COMPETITION: With Project Cars being released on the PS4 recently, and now Assetto Corsa coming in 2016 to consoles, Polyphony will have some serious competition on the PS4 this time around, with both games (Project Cars and Assetto Corsa) being PC based games.
Gt3 sold so well because it came out at a high point for car culture relevance. Right now, car culture interest is in trough. Car sales are not great amongst the same age demographic as core gamers. Gt won't hit big numbers again until it's relevance to the general gaming public returns.
As for GT7, bring the grip down on the RS and RM tires and BALANCE the game (single player and multiplayer).
The whole experience in GT6 is ruined by the imbalance. In single player, winning is a given. In multiplayer, there is too much policing that has to happen by hosts and it takes too long to find the fun for everyone else.
Also, hire some artists and designers to redo the standard cars. I hate seeing them, it ruins the experience. They are also terrible implemented (many imbalanced cars are standards) The supposed comeback of the standard cars in GT7 is shameful. A highschooler could make them look better ffs.
Gt7 needs a lot. Its so much they have to improve.
A more deep and longer career mode, the past two gt games (gt5, gt6) has been poor when it comes to career. They even took out endurance races on gt6 which i think was stupid because a lot of us enjoy doing endurance races.
The AI needs huge improvement. The AI needs to be more challenging, better awareness, and better intelligence.
Better damage
Livery editor..... it doesn't have to be really deep but something basic.
Better online
less bugs and glitches
More up to date to cars
Shuffle racing needs to return
dump most of the standard cars, upgrade maybe like 40 of them and dump the rest. along with the new cars you gonna add into the game which will probably 200 you would still end up with over 500 cars which is not a small number
Better weather effects
Well, I have played GT more than any other game and GT6's career mode was a disappointment, worse than 5's even. GT4 got it perfect, best in the series, and they can't seem to match it. I don't really care about sounds, tracks, cars etc. although it would be nice to have them but a revamped career mode that takes months if not years to complete is a must. GT6's career can be done in a matter of days, including the endurance races.
No standard[ car]s.
[...]
Also, no more duplicate cars. Why should we have 48 Skylines and almost 30 Mazda Roadsters/MX5s/Miatas/Eunos? They should be replaced with better cars.
As long as they don't count in the total number of cars (like the number of tracks being different from Track Layouts. It could be: 200 Cars, 5000 variations [4000 of them Skylines and Miatas!]), and they didn't clutter the car selection, it'll be okay. Specially if they all have interiors, it could be nice to see a difference between them, ones with steering wheel on the left, others on the right. Different years and engines to give you options. They would only be sepparated by model (Skyline R31, R32, R33...), only AFTER you select it, you get selections for year, specific model, etc.
-Things such as qualifying, standing starts, mechanical damage, fuel/tire wear, corner cutting/collision penalties should be available in all game modes, both online and offline. I don't mind PD setting the default options in a way that makes the game more accessible to casual players, by sim options should be available in all modes so that the game will be fun to hardcore players as well.
-PD can keep the classic GT career mode, by it would be nice if they included a freelance career mode as well, give players the option to have all career events unlocked from the start and make license tests optional. The classic GT career mode can be interesting for people who are new to racing games but for someone like me who has played previous GT games as well as a bunch of other racing games being forced to play career mode in a specific way is a huge turnoff. I already know how to drive and I know which cars I like, it makes no sense to me to be forced to play baby-step tutorials of stuff I already know or being forced to play events with cars I don't like in a specific order before being able to drive the cars I like.
-PD should make all cars & tracks available from the start in arcade mode. I know a lot of people who like racing games but are discouraged from buying GT6 because they have job & family and no time to grind career events to buy cars. It makes no sense to have 1200+ cars but only make 20 of them available as courtesy cars in arcade mode, arcade mode doesn't have payouts, courtesy cars cannot be customized, so it would be better to have all cars & tracks available from the start. That would benefit players more on the casual side who simply want to play some quick races on the weekend as well as people who want to test drive a car before buying it.
-PD should also make all cars available from the start in online mode as courtesy cars. There are people who don't like playing against AI and care only about playing online against human players, it makes no sense for those people to have to play offline career in order to unlock online mode and acquire cars. Obviously PD should include the option for host to block courtesy cars and limit car selection to career garage only.
-Basic options that are available in other racing games should be included in GT7 as well: adjustable AI difficulty, being able to save more than 3 setups for any car, friend invite, leaderboards for every track, decent online payouts, bonus credits for turning aids off/increasing difficulty, etc.
- Standing stars, qualifiying, etc.. in all modes: Yes (although depending on the event, but should still HAPPEN in career mode).
- The career mode: I don't know, I guess instead it should just get a rebalancing, with good variety of events (like GT4), organized in a nice way (GT3 is my favorite in this), and with GT5's level system, where you unlock events by racing, with licenses being optional, but helping
It could help more in fact, like: finish a license, guaranteed next level races, but only to a specific level, if you're already in that level, then it won't help as much to get to the NEXT one)
What they SHOULD make different IMO, is a bigger variety of events for every level, even if it meant repeating them on higher levels, but with different tracks (or layouts/time of day). That would actually be similar to GT2, where you had 3 to 5 races on every event, but they weren't exactly to be raced with the same car in the same specs, you would need to improve it, or even get a new one.
So right on the start, you should already have unlocked: Sunday Cup, Clubman Cup, FF, FR, 4WD, N/A, Turbo, American Cars, European Cars, Asian Cars. Maybe also Classic Cars, but on a very low level (Not classic SUPERcars). And on higher levels, some would repeat: FF, FR, 4WD, now getting a MR, N/A, Turbo, region specifics now being MORE specific (German, British, Italian, Japanese).
...and these too. More specific events for specific cars (e.g. A photo I took in GT5 with the DLC Beetle, I was doing an Arcade race, and all cars were the same, just classic Beetles. Really made me wish there was an official event for old Beetles, specially since in GT6 I don't think you can make a single-player arcade race locked to only one car)
Improved physics to allow cars to become more lifelike.
Event generator because the career mode may be too easy or boring.
More useful HUD which displays fuel as a number and gaps to the drivers ahead and comparisons to our own times.
Improved Seasonals. Adding a positional based reward system which gives credits and real rewards for some seasonals.
Physics are a good point. If you have Midnight Club L.A., play it, if you don't, buy it, it's a great game (best street racing game, IMO).
Even though the car damage is not necessarily on the level of GRID or Burnout, nastier crashes just feels SO good. You sort of lose control, the car pirouettes through the air in a convincing and also AWESOME way. And the damage is good too, even having licensed cars (though Ferraris are lacking [see "STREET RACING game" above. In old NFSs, just having cops on meant you couldn't use the Ferraris]).
Window netting and roll cage - YES
Make a road car like a race car (a.k.a. Racing Modification) - Yes, even if the livery was a more generic "Gran Turismo" one. And no sponsors. Only if they are for the pieces actually installed (e.g. if it's a real body kit/engine pieces/light body parts, made by a specific brand).
Tailor road car to DTM/Super GT/etc. - Same as above, but with different options for modifications (more than one Racing Modification)?
B-Spec - More like in GT5, where it's an actual driver you are managing, and you can switch with him/her?/them in endurance races (also bringing back endurance races that are ACTUALLY long), that would be cool.
ONLINE B-Spec? Maybe to test the cars, since the AI drivers would be pretty much similar (unless they weren't).
Event Generator - Maybe just an Arcade Mode-like thing, but that gives you money. Select a track, your car (from the garage in this case), opponent's difficulty and specific restrictions (like in online - PP, HP, Weight, Year [range], Continent -> Country -> Manufacturer -> Car Model)
Damage model - Damage is complicated, because certain manufacturers could not be cool with it. But some improvements (again, being like in Midnight Club L.A.) could be OK I guess. As for tire punctures, wheels coming off, that would be a natural evolution for mechanical damage, which would be awesome.
Proper penalty system, and Safety Car - YES!
Rolling start on all tracks (possibility/option). Improved sounds which will improve sense of speed. Improved sense of speed via sounds and car handling - YES!!
More useful HUD which displays fuel as a number and gaps to the drivers ahead and comparisons to our own times - Fuel (and nitrous) represented by numbers could be cool. Others are nice too, but not completely necessary.
Improved Seasonals. Adding a positional based reward system which gives credits and real rewards for some seasonals - Seasonals should be easier, but with heavier penalization, and give less money (to compensate for being easier). And they should have the PP differential thing.
Doesn't mean to say I'm not optimistic about GT7. I am all the same, but one can only dream of what isn't exactly an impossibility.
I guess teaming up with others certainly could help. If Polyphony still was mostly responsible for the car selection, but the other suggesting some more recent cars, and smacking Polyphony in the head if it so much as THINKS of adding more Skylines (unless it's a classic racing version, like that Silhouette R30-R31-Rwhichever it was). PD would suggest an old concept no one ever heard of before, and which they will fall in love with afterwards, and the other would, you know, put the new McLaren, the new Ferrari, the new Porsc RUF.
And about Motorsport's crash physics, but except for cars exploding: OBVIOUSLY without exploding. But again, even if the visual damage wasn't improved that much, just the way the cars react on the crash, how they fly off and roll in mid-air. If it was like Midnight Club L.A. it would already be awesome.
They could (and SHOULD) also work on making all cars premium.
And one last thing, this one from me:
USED CARS!
That was in GT since the first. The only one that didn't have it was GT3, although in that case it was probably because of the smaller number of cars, and I loved it because it slowed the pacing considerably, which I found surprisingly nice:
Earning 1k credits on the first races, good cars costing at least 16k, one that's better than the one you started with would need to cost at least 20k (the lower spec R32 was 25k!), and you couldn't get far with your initial car (or one could say your Initial D car - the AE86, that was a good car to start with, the Gts-t R32 being out of the question). First events: 1k, second ones: 1.5k, to win in one that earned you 2k, you would already need to improve your car quite a bit. After you ran out of cheap parts to buy (turbos and weight reduction were still very cheap, relatively), then it would be a good time to get a new car, that's not better than your already tuned car, but after you tune it with the cheap upgrades, it's already gonna be quite better...
And the actual, real, final, last thing (because I metioned it's name three times):
I would like to see, but currently have no faith in, PD going through the game and re doing it.
Kaz and PD do have some good ideas and like other things in the game are not implemented very well.
Used cars is a cool feature, but not always equally well implemented. It's not very fun to force the game to shuffle the list dozens of times just to find a car you can't get anywhere else. I think all models should be available as brand new cars, and that used cars should just be well-used and much cheaper cars.
Fun factor is a definite. One of the reasons I constantly see myself going back to other games as opposed to GT6 lately.
Another thing. Fun does not equal arcade, let's get that straight right now. You can have the best simulator on God's green Earth with tyre models from Mars and petrol made from Lewis Hamilton's victory tears but if it's not fun then what's the point? It will just end up wack.
Lastly, with regards to cleaning up of standards, I saw an interesting list. @NorthernLight care to share it with us?
I tried to make some sort of standard car database mixed with suggestions. Maybe someone will find it worth looking through.
Link's here or in my signature.

I actually think there should be more arcade elements in GT. I think part of it's problem is that it tries to market itself as a simulator, but it's not a full on simulator, and it avoids some of the more arcade elements that could add to the fun factor and create huge replayability, without taking away from the simulation aspect of the game if it's done right. I'm talking about things like coastal highway tracks like in PCars, semi-fantasy tracks like in Drive Club, fantasy customization, crazy car customization like turning a street Mustang into a 2000 hp drag car including drag tracks for it and allowing it to be driven on circuits. Being able to stance cars is easy and already part of the game code as we saw in GT5 and it would be great to see it in the game. Some kind of cruise mode with various options for lobby hosts like what side of the road to drive on, speed limits etc. A cops and robbers mode might not be a bad idea either. Take the ideas that spawned spontaneously online and run with them, incorporate them into the game and let the players do as many things as possible with the game.
Well my list would have to consist of things like this being put in the Game.
1. SOUND (note CAPS) no need for explanation. I'd like to hear things better.
2. Acceleration Test. Because no one has mentioned this and it's a BIG thing for Drag racers. It's where most of my fun time was spent. 1/4 mile, 3K, 1/2 mile, 1 mile drag track. Drag racing is a big thing in GT now. Have you seen how many lobbies are drag racing?
3. A.U uhm sorry A.I needs to be A.I PD's artificial unintelligible needs to be intelligent.
4. Career Mode. Comprehensive, engaging and fun career mode. I'm thinking with a proper timing of events with race calendar. And over proper seasons. Also we need warm-up sessions, qualifying, and real world amount of laps with the option to adjust.
5. Car list. More variety of global car manufacturers. As someone said GT simply isn't representative of the cars in the world that aren't Japanese. T10 does this brilliantly with lots of variety and please not 10+ or even 5+ of the same car.
6. Car Model quality. No standard cars not never, not ever. The word should be non-existent on Next-Gen. PREMIUM with fully modeled interiors!
7. Customization. This has to be at the level that Forza is at. Do people even freaking realize how fun this makes a racing game, I mean seriously! In fact I say PD to compete with T10! They need to think about how they can innovate and surpass T10 in this area.
Realistic BHP for any car even small, and more comprehensive engine, drivetrain, chassis, wheels and tyres category, aero and body parts, weight reduction. Body Kits. Engine swaps, drivetrain swaps.
Drag tyres, Comfort compounds, sport compound, racing compound, drag compound, drift compound tyres. Tyre width and Diameter in proepr inches. To be able to fit the largest possible wheels on your car say a car that has 15" you can fit upto 18" - 19" or 20" - 22" for 4WD trucks and off road vehicles. It needs to be done like Forza does it in PD's own unique way. Wheels selections need to be categorized like in Forza and there needs to be more real world wheels of choice.
Maybe even the ability to cover headlights with stickers or paint them. Tint windows. Replace wing mirrors and aftermarket selection of Racing Wings. Rear spoilers that come with bodykits or ability to fit racing wings with bodykits parts like in Forza. Or even selection of various spoilers or wings from the manufacturer from higher models.
Even under car lighting would be amazing. I don't think any of this will happen EVER because its more fitting to an arcade game. But I do think this is relevant to racing enthusiasts who love cars and motorsports. After all in the real world, it's all about making ones car unique and modded into your own dream car. They need to open up and let the ideas flow, go crazy and let anything possible be possible. .
8. Tracks. More real world tracks although I don't mind the odd few fantasy tracks that everyone loves. All tracks of highest quality with day/night time adjustment or automatic weather cycles inline with the meteorological conditions of the day that we are playing the game.
9. Course Maker. Again, no need for explanation. It's a fan favorite. It's always refreshing to have an advanced track creator. And what if the size of the map that can be generated is quite large? radius in miles or kilometers.
10. Time Attack. Not sure how many people want this feature but a lot of people love Time attack or Forza's Rivals equivalent.
11. Arcade Mode. Most GT have had one for quick races in mostly any car. Although for me I never played the game in Arcade mode.
12. Porsche Licence. I think a lot of people would love to see Porsche entering the Game but is this even realistic.
13. I'd like to see a more comprehensive maintenance shop. Rather than oil and car wash or engine overhaul or body rigidity. Something different but interesting. Things like anti freeze, battery drain, low water or any number of new things PD could add to the game for realism when pitting in. Wear and tear of the engine is more realistic and dependent on how you drive.
This is my personal opinion on what i would like to see in Gran Turismo 7.
We all know that the series has been arguably been the leader in racing games even since the original game however in the last game i feel that they have gotten lazy because there are many aspects of GT6 that has been copied from previous games. Don't get me wrong i still love GT6 because there is so many different ideas they have implemented such as Vision GT, physics and i like the new online lobby lay outs but there was many tricks they have missed. Anyway enough of that lets get to the business end of things.
First off the sound of the cars needs to be improved for example i don't want to put a racing exhaust on a BMW M3 and it sound the same as a Lamborghini its just not doing the cars justest.
Tracks need updating meaning i would like to see old tracks from the old games and also i think some of the f1 circuits and other world Tracks. This would include tracks such as infinon raceway, top gear, singapore, abu dhab yas marina, catalunya, china, the formula 1 calendar basically, el capitan, tihiti road course, citta de area, paris, seattil,LA and Hong Kong what i am trying to say is that they need to look back at there old tracks and try them out in the online community.
Next on my list is cars now i like the fact that they are a cut above fonza with the amount of selection however what i don't like to see is 12 different Honda s2000 1 will be enough for me instead of taking up extra unnecessary memory in the game they could remove these cars and use the relationships they have built with company's who are taking part in the vision GT project and go more in depth with there cars for example mini and there old style john works cars and rally cars. Now cars should be important and for me it is also important to have a variety of different manufactures. What i mean by this is stuff like they have done with the Japanese cars and look in depth on the cars that where iconic to different manufactures and what cars people in Europe and the US want to see. The cars i want to see are things like audi's, bentley, BMW, koenigsegg, noble, radical, aston martin, lambogini, Ferrari, Mercedes Benz, McLaren,Fords, Jags and any others i may have missed off. The final thing i have to say about cars is that i would like them to stay up to date with new realises of cars for example when the new ford GT comes out.
Now the race/game modes now i don't complain very much about the racing on gt because its usually down to the poor drivers within the community that ruin it however the thing i miss the most from gt5 is shuffle racing now most people may be confused by this but i miss shuffle because of the Dirty racing because they have now removed it in gt6 we are left to use our own cars and as we all know there is always that one guy who gets out the OP car and makes it boring so i would like to see the old shuffle back to even the grids out again. Along the lines of dirty racing maybe it would be a good idea to implement a circuit or a game mode that allows you to do demolition derby because then the drivers who like dirty racing have there own place and will be less likely to cause trouble in clean lobby's. I know there is 3 other popular lobby types in gt that probably need there own rooms as well and that is drag racers who could use with a proper 1/4 of a mile strip just because that would be a cool thing to have (like the one they use to have in gt4 or salt flats) They could also create some sort of town where people could do law lobbies in because i get a little depressed when i go on the lobby list and all it is is those lobbies and i think it is about time they had there own place to roam. The final type is car show i know that there is an argument that photo mode is designed to do this but i like the idea of these lobbies, you pick a category say Italian and then the winner of the last cat picks the winner well what if there was a way in witch you could have like a parking garage where people could judge cars.
The final improvement i would have for the game is the lack of customization. Now there is not many games that allow you to customize your cars any more but this is why they should add it because i've grown up playing racing games and the one that stands out the most to me is NSF underground 2 because of the customization. I know GT is suppose to be quite a grown up game but there is nothing wrong with having a bit of Chav to some of the cars especially the JDM's and even if it is things like adding engines that come out of bonnets, extra body parts or neon lights it is little things like that will make a massive difference.
To end i am not getting into the whole standard and premium argument because personally standard cars don't bother me to much yeah they look a little sloppy and less professional but im just glad some of them are in the game and if it means we get more cars then so be it. but Gran Turismo is not yet ruined it just needs a game to come out and put it back on top and to make a game on top you need to listen to your community like this entire web page was set up for this but yet does anyone in the development team even know it exists?
Anyway this is just my opinion on what the game needs it may not be the same as some but its what i would like to see
