Lol...Sleepers are such a waste of time, unless you're a freakin carni...You can only go so long before people know of your car, it's pretty pointless

you clearly have much to learn. people who have power but don't show it off are the most sophisticated and probably best drivers in the world. a regular say 5 series with a small v12 badge on the back is infinitely more sexy than a maxed out civic with 20 wings and more stickers than max rpm! :D

No one said anything about a 20 wing civic...

people who have power but don't show it off are the most sophisticated and probably best drivers in the world

I've seen a 700+HP supra or 2... slammed into a wall...Great driver there....Second, you can only not show your power to a point..Beyond that point it's nessecary so you, ya know..Don't die, if an accident does occur....And as I said...Your car can only been seen as "non powered" for so long..Word spreads fast in alot of towns..

Put it this way..You put a Cage in your car..it's not a sleeper..You put Slicks on your car..it's not a sleeper....Your car sounds like a damn panzer at idle..It's not a sleeper..Even if it's just black paint..Dark tint..Etc etc

Sleeper = car that looks normal, but is faster than most people expect. Plain and simple. Biggest sleeper in the world that ive seen = Taurus SHO. The guy had crazy amounts of engine work done plus turbo. Did it have thick tires up front? You bet. But to the normal person, especially the teenage variety, it just looked like a normal taurus grocery getter.

this VW pulls rite by my side. totally stock bug. not even lowered. stock tailpipes, stock sound. painted a grandma-beige. all chrome in its place. and looking a little rusted. easy prey. after all, I had a V8.
then all I see its the tailights and the guy waving bye. damn. -___-

months later found the car at a VW show. supercharged porsche engine. how did he manage to put the stock engine cover in? I still have no idea. my bet is that he enlarged the firewall and modified the rear seat so it could enter in it. made it thinner or something, i dont know. it was one helluva car. it was overlooked, you know. you saw all these people gathered along a damned hitech bug, 18 inch wheels, no back seat so it could have a big box with woofers... but this one was totally unnatended. heh. the guy walked out of the show without people knowing what was under the bonnet. precisely the point.

that is the chosen treatment for the fairmont wag when i get it back. you wont know from anything that it has 500 hp under the hood. someday...

See...I'm telling you..GOOD american cars are few and far between...but when they're good they're very good..too bad US is like that

Yeah, to a lot of people it probably is. But for people who know their cars, it isn't.;)

The GN, and GNX, are very high up on my 'favorite cars' list.

that aint a sleeper dude. because even you know that the GN is a (NOT twin) turbo beast. you know what would be a sleeper??? a ford pinto or a vega or something like that stuffed with the V6turbo on the GN... and the only visuals that could give that away were the fatter tires, so it could handle the power... but everything else remains visually stock. even a double silencer so it wouldnt whine like a turbo does. if you were in yer RX7 and the dude on the other line in the pinto, vega, revved up and wanted to race you, what would you think?? "heh, idiot. easy prey"

yeah, rite.

A Vega isn't a sleeper because I see soooo many vega's with big CI engines and blowers at the track on a day to day basis

those cars arent sleepers because they show you how much power theyve got. you are missing the sleeper point entirely dude. if a car SHOWS its power, be it a skyline, a dragster or a damned hopped up vw bug, it is not a sleeper, its a nice cool street machine/race car/whatever

a sleeper is a car that doesnt looks like it has a ton of hp and torque... but actually has it, even if it is a skyline or a damned vega, or that freakin supercharged VW that made me pieces that time.

sleepers are cool. what if you saw a vega on the day at the track with no hood scoop, no stupid paint, not even wearing slicks, but then its owner would put some drag radials on it and then just blow the competition off??? yeah, that "stock" blue vega/pinto/whatever. that is a sleeper. the overlooked car :D

If I saw the vega without slicks I'd laugh at the guy, because that small car with that huge blower and no slicks spells disaster, and I'm saying...Building a sleeper's only positive point is you get less attention from authorities....After say...a month or 2 of action..word will spread to the point that people KNOW Your car isn't as slow as it lets on

My best sleeper would be one of the 60s Pontiac GTO. Cant remember what year but it does have the horizontal grilles. Its got the 386 (or 389?) cui V8 and gets to 100kmh in 4.8 secs, and 1/4 mile in 13.1 secs. ****ing fast, and it looks like any other 1960s car

rim's & Stripe/graphix whatever gotta go..Without those 2 things..it'd be so much nicer...they shoulda just thrown it on some kregers

Gotta love sleepers. Why show off how much power you have? Plus its harder for the cops to tell :P. Shinez, sleepers dont look totally stock (though they can). They just have to look slower than they really are...

Ok then...My civic's still a sleeper, cause my civic looks like crap and you don't expect it from a civic as quiet as mine..

Alright, here is a better definition. A sleeper is a car you dont expect to be fast (or faster than you)...
almost, i'd say a sleeper is a car that looks stock at FIRST glance, and therefore you dont expect it to be anything out of the ordinary, its only when u look at the details when u start to see things are not quite what they seem. i.e. wider tyres/chrome exhaust... and of course it has to be fast :P
