By comparison, the Lancer will probably understeer.

Also, a Camaro isn't a very big car. They have a bit more overhang than most cars, but 190" isn't very long. The engine is set back pretty far, too, so that helps weight distribution.

Well I remember watchin the camaro's racing in the Solo II Catagory last thanksgiving..And their lap times were anything BUT astounding...Hell..Last years Speed Challenge Civic HB With a STOCK B16A Turned better lap times...and yes they were at the same track

I've been to races where stock Miata's, and Cavaliers turned better lap times than a stock C5. All that means is somebody cannot drive...

I have no axe to grind against any particular car - or car's host nation. In fact I quite like the current shape Camaro - it looks like a slightly pointier-nosed 575M from the front, and the back is quite attractive. But I think a stock UK-spec Evo8 (I'm told they're detuned for the US market...) would spank a stock US-spec Camaro SS all over a track.

I know of a couple who own a 1995 Camaro Z28 and a 1992 300ZX Twin Turbo (his and hers, that order). Both of them rate the 300ZX as a much, much quicker car than the Camaro. The Evo8 is lighter than the 300ZX, with the same power (in the UK) and AYC, and the Camaro SS has more power than the Camaro Z28, so IMO it'd be even more clear-cut on most types of track. On a banked oval... maybe not

BTW WHY does a Camaro have the potential to be quicker than the Evo? Just because it has a bigger engine bay?

Is the '95 Z28 an automatic convertible? If not it should be, and even feel, faster than a stock 300zxtt until higher speeds are reached.

Why does a Camaro have more potential to be faster? It's a RWD V8 car, not an AWD 4 cyl. That car in the picture ran 9's all motor. Know of any Evo's to do that?

I'd say £ for £ (or $ for $) spent on modifications, the Evo would walk it.

Sure the Camaro has 8 cylinders instead of 4, so there's always half as much activity from the engine for the same power, but again stock the Evo is cheaper and for each "indeterminate money unit" spent on the cars the Evo will stay quicker.

And speed isn't always in a straight line...

I'm unaware of the exact models. However they both say the Camaro is quicker in a straight line but by the end of a journey the 300ZX will be there sooner. Rear wheel steering, I guess.

So... no, basically? That's what I thought.

Being a turbo'ed 4 cylinder if they could make it run 9's it wouldn't be that bad on gas. It's a 4cyl, and they wouldn't constantly be running around at full boost unless they were retarted.
