OP here again. A new day, something new to do for the sheer enjoyment of it. Tomorrow (and Sunday) is the
GTPlanet WRS (Weekly Race Series) Parity event. Parity events match different cars, drivers of different skill levels, and puts them on an even footing through it's rules. If you'd like the details just click the link above but it comes down to everyone builds their own car of choice on a specific set of tires (Sport Medium in this case) to go around Indy Road Course in an American car (any car from the North American side of Dealerships) no quicker than 1:42.000 and not exceed 165mph at the end of of the longest straight. It's a "race what you brought event" where everyone's turning the same lap times no matter what the car is or the skill level of the driver. Racing is VERY fast, close, exciting, and almost entirely clean (minor bumps do happen, we all understand that.) It's the kind of event where pretty much everyone walks away with a huge smile on their face because it's just that much fun.
But what's so fun right now when the event is tomorrow? I built a car for this event immediately after the event was announced. I'd always wanted to do something with the Cadillac CTS-V, no one had "claimed" (there's no rule about using the same car but generally we all try to run something different to mix it up, call it an unspoken rule if you will though no one will begrudge someone thier choice of car) the car yet so that's what I went with. I've practiced Indy to the point that I've got the car honed to within a tenth with a max of 158mph at the end of the straight. It may sacrifice 7mph on the top end but it'll cut an apex like a blade. This is possibly the most perfect car I've ever created. It's beautiful, fast, agile, and a pure joy to drive. The fun part is where I take this car and drive it in it's purest form: Cockpit view, all race info turned off, volume up, music off.
I've been re-doing a lot of the earlier events and this car being FR, "Normal" car, at 535PP can enter a lot of events. There are arcade mode races as well. That's what I've been doing. I'm relaxing, not stressing about cutting the fastest lap times or forcing passes or anything of the sort. I'm driving as if I'm REALLY in that car that I worked years to afford, within the limits of me and the car. I treat all the other cars as if they're piloted by real people that I don't want to run into afterward in the pits after I've smashed in their bumper or fender. I show them the respect I'd show a real driver. I'm still fast and I'm still winning but without the stress and distractions of leader board position, timing, lap data, or having to win. Just me, car, wind and road noise, a ribbon of asphalt in front of me, and the glorious roar of a 7000 RPM V8.
