What have you done to your car today?

Wow, yeah that is close. Convert mine to hp and its 174. Curse my 4WD, if it was a RWD it would have more :)

The Celica is pretty heavy man. I'm pretty keen to go down the strip to lay a base time down before I start modding. Syncros in the gearbox make a "pleasant" noise when engaging second and third in a hurry, so hopefully I don't lunch my box :)

I could have sworn your car was FWD when I last asked. AWD makes it pretty awesome then.👍 My actual read-out was like 178rwhp or something, although I was told that particular dyno read less than say a dyno dynamics one would, but that's all irrelevant, dynos are a rough guide, a tuning tool, and not an accurate measuring tool. Once I get my front bar fixed (after the roo collision) I'll be taking it down the strip- it's in the workshop now getting a heater core replaced along with a few other minor things. I'll be getting the bar repaired ASAP afterwards.

Sounds awesome, I'll definately be keen to take it down the strip when you do, so let me know when its happening. I have access to a helmet, do you need overalls or just covered shoes and she'll be right?

I have no idea! I've got a helmet as well, and some old basketball shoes of mine have really thin soles so they'll probably be good for driving. As for whether or not you need long sleeves and full length pants I have no idea.:boggled:

Is it weird that my favourite shoes for driving are a pair of old DC skate ones? Tried a pair of proper puma driving ones, but they just weren't wide enough to make heel-toeing comfortable for me, at all. Besides, if you're just going down the quarter mile, you really don't need special shoes.

Re: clothing, it'll vary from track to track and also between events. Just check with wherever you're taking the car to race.

I've got a pair of Adidas Porsche Designs as driving shoes, because they have a rolled heel... but they don't a have a tab on the edge of the shoe (as some do) for good heel-toe action.

Those are in good condition and sitting on my shoe rack.

What I'm using now might surprise you:

(I'll put a better image up later... this is all I can find online)
Fila Outdoors shoes. They call them the Piranha... but I've seen other makers sell them as something else, and they're not on the US list, so they're pretty generic.

They're rubber bodied shoes with a plastic midsole. So they're kind of like aqua-socks, but they stay stiff... unlike rubbery aqua-socks which bend too easily in the middle and aren't as well suited for driving. The sole isn't that grippy on steel pedals, but they're nice and comfortable, zip on, and wide and stiff enough for easy heel-and-toe.

And they're cheap as chips. I've got two pairs... bought for about $20 each.

According to my brother who has been there before, we will need to have full length pants and long sleeve shirts at Willowbank.

Why Eric? Bet you're loving the sound ;)

Because I had to get a 3-bolt flange on this (middle piece):

cut off, and a 2-bolt flange welded in its place to fit this:

So, likely next tuesday, it will all go on.

Going from mildly loud to quiet as a mouse to louder than ever. Not sure how loud that will be, but there will be video.

Funny how having a super quiet exhaust makes you drive fast everywhere. I kept looking down and seeing I was going faster than I should've been today...

Replaced the blown parker light fuse, I had no tail lights, no parkers and no gauge illumination. I wasn't turning on my lights in the light rain today in case a cop saw me.

Edit: Oh and I also adjusted my throttle cable which had some epic slack in it. Problem is though, you do it up nice and tight and test it at full throttle and it seems to lose some tension immediately after, every time. It was still getting full throttle though.

Today I changed the oilfilter at my new enginge which I will drop in my engine bay later.
And everything in my garage without an engine lifter :D I love my full aluminium block which only weights 69kg

What a weekend - sober driver to a party down at the gold coast on Friday night, got home at around 3. Got up, spent all day fitting the suspension (don't ask why it took so long, I have no idea). Then, had a shower, went off to my mates place, sank some beer met some ladies, went to bed at 2, up at 4.50 to go to work and finished at 7pm. I'm still tired - but I have pictures of what I achieved!

No strut! Its ok, found some Teins in the garage... and a sway bar thingee - here it is beside the old one

See how the ends are straight as opposed to bent? Well apparently Whiteline seem to think it makes it more effective, all I know is that IT HITS THE BRAKE LINE BRACKET!

swaybrake.jpg

So, I was going to get new bracket welded on a bit lower, but that would require stripping of the strut and reassembly. On a brand new strut. So, I'm going to cut the bracket off leaving just a small tap to drill a hole through, and I'm going to wrap the line with a bit of rubber and tie it up with a metal tie - semi temporary measure that I'll always mean to fix up but never get around to. Heres the top mount - cool looking!

While changing the struts I found some loose bushes. That is a little hurry up to get the replacement items. Once fitted, I'll get an alignment. Already though, the car feels so much better, a lot more planted on the road. Obviously the feed back coming through the car is a lot stronger (Hello bumps!) but body roll has been vastly reduced, and turn in improved greatly. And it looks pretty tough to boot, so I'm pretty happy!

The "feedback" through the wheel is probably because the castor is WAY out of whack. Same thing happened to me when I had adjustable strut mounts fitted. Unless you just mean it's more stiffly sprung. But it's looking good 👍, could use some rims though.;)

Yeah I meant its more stiffly sprung and the dampers are a lot firmer. But we'll see how things go once it gets an alignment. And yes, rims are definatly on the cards, in saving mode again now though - they are expensive the ones I want. Heres a pic!

EDIT: Whos a pro with photoshop? Anyone care to show me what they would look like on my car?

Just finished replacing the radiator in my '02 blazer. Not sure what happened but for some reason the old one started leaking. I would post pics, but it's not exactly and interesting thing to look at.

What I'm about to do to my car today? Leaving in 15 minutes to get to work installing the full exhaust! :dopey:

All maintanance inspired mods over the course of this week...
First I had a huge punture and as a few of my tyres were worn I decided to buy a full matching set for the first time in my life. That allowed me to finally get a tyre pen and highlight the pirelli logo on the sidewalls like I always wanted :D
Second was that one of my hid bulbs blew so rather than get another 6k bulb which is getting quite common here i decided to get some JDM hid bulbs, luckily they plugged in fine but now my flash is my normal beam and vice versa. :s
Finally my indicator bulb went so as I tried to change it the bulb holder snapped so it wouldnt click back in so I bought some clear indicator replacements instead.

Yellow headlights are so tremendously dangerous here in Ohio that a few of my friends have been pulled over and fined for this dreadful crime against society.

Ya I don't get it, they don't impair your vision. People with those annoying, cheap HID blue and purple lights are more of a danger since they don't illuminate things worth a damn.

From what I've seen yellow lights don't work worth a damn. My friend bought a new Civic Si that the previous owner had installed yellow bulbs in the high beams and fogs, yet you could never tell when the high beams were on unless a roadsign was close, it would glow yellow. I have 6k HIDs in the low beam, stock high beams, and 3k yellow HID fogs.
