What have you done to your car today?

Today I vow to order my brakes and shifter bushings from Tire Rack and PasswordJDM, respectively. I promise. And then I'll install them eventually and have pictures and whatnot.
Or you can buy the energy suspension shifter bushings for like 12 bucks. They're probably better too, considering the experience energy suspension has.

40 bucks for bushings?

Use the extra money you save an pick up a short shifter while you're at it. You still will have money left over after bushings and a shifter, and you're actually going to fix your problem, because the bushings themselves don't.

Been there, done that keef.

I'm working on it. I'll have all this stuff some time, but I have to budget my parts because I need some money left over for a trip or two this summer.

And you went ahead and bought the more expensive (and probably worse) bushings.

And, you're really hesitant to buy your wheels and tires from edge racing, even though it's going to save you over 200 bucks and you get a better set of tires anyway.

Yea so um...

I've successfully wired some new power window switches that will be mounted in the dash eventually. Next is the power locks switch. :D

I'm using the Contour/Mondeo switches to the left (and yes that is a Focus switch on the right--but won't be used):

Cleaned down the car and washed it. The Spyder that is... also took the Corolla out for a drive and hated it for how... appliance like it is in comparison.

Installed an MSD 6A box on my '92 Camaro RS (305 TBI 5-sp).:)

You never said you had a Camaro!! Your fuel economy should improve with that (assuming they are ignition coils), but you will chew spark plugs faster, not by much though.

I suppose I forgot about it. It has a large amount of miles on it, but now it runs great after getting all of the ignition parts set up correctly. At one time I was running on 6 cylindars because two of my plug wires were grounding against the exhaust manifold. I have the MSD coil for it as well as the MSD cap, rotor and plug wires. The plugs are AC Delco brand. The car also has Eibach lowering springs, KYB shocks, Baer carbon ceramic brake pads, Energy Suspension bushings and an Edelbrock strut tower brace.:)

What would be the correct thread in which to put up pictures of it? Thanks!

The "GTP Members Car directory." It's a stick on this board.

Finally installed my new radiator today after the old one sprung a leak last week. It was an easier job than I thought it would be. It took about an hour total to pull the old one and install the new one.

Attempted again to get the Contour/Mondeo power locks switch to work--again I can only get them to lock and not unlock. I'll figure it out tomorrow.

On another front, looks like I'm going to be buying another project car. 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z Turbo. For...$200 USD. I can't pass up the deal considering my first car was a Daytona, this is the only Dodge product I really like past 1973, and I can't see it get sent to a junk yard. I have to save it! And, this little beast can be pretty quick with some cheap mods. :D I'll have some pics next weekend after I buy it and have it towed--unless he decides to not sell it. But, since he's moving cross country I can't see him not selling it since it needs a few things before it can drive. :D

Looks interesting. (I had to look up what that was) FWD though?

I changed out my steering box today. The new box made the car easier to turn, but there is still a large dead spot in the steering.:ouch: Next I'm going to get the car aligned.

Spend $45.45 to fill my Camaro up. He was literally bone dry. This is a good reason for me to of bought that other car. :D

Washed the MR-S, again. Black car in a wheat field area is a pain to keep clean. Oh well, black is best.

I bought a auxiliary cable to plug in my ipod to my car for 7 dollars at radio shack.

How are you hooking your iPod up? We haven't really found a good way to do that in our car. Or did you get the iPod jack?

That's not too bad. I paid $4.02 per gallon last night and came out at $55 for my little 14 gallon tank.

I finally got around to washing my car today. It really deserved it seeing that I was the last person to wash it 4,000 miles ago on Spring break in March.

I agree, $45 isn't bad at all. My little Integra took over $40 on the last fill-up. I couldn't believe it, that my little car cost as much as a huge pickup truck used to cost to fill-up. Oh well, at least I get good enough MPG to not feel too bad about it.

Its not the ipod hookup its an auxiliary input plug in the center armrest thing. The older ones I think had it in the glove box.... take a look.

2 hours later :D

Also here is the original one removed. I cant believe how big it is and inefficient it looks, surely this thing was choking the engine of air? I think the big thing in the middle is called an air resonator box, does anyone know what its supposed to do?

Looks much neater now. Can you feel the power increase? Commodores actually supposedly do better with an OTR CAI than a pod filter, so lucky me.(Yes I already have the CAI :dopey:)

An intake resonator is like a muffler for your intake. You've surely noticed how loud and growly your new short-ram is, and that intake grumble would be pretty annoying to the average car buyer. The stock intake is more efficient than it looks, but it's still nowhere near as good as the new one.

I finally installed my shifter bushings Sunday afternoon. It tightened up the slop in the shifter a bit (but a whole new shifter will fix the rest), but it did make the shifts much more crisp, and the gates seem more defined. Also, the car now vibrates like it's nobody's business. It's either because I didn't tighten the exhaust flange well enough--but it's not any louder--or because the bushings really are that much harder than the stock Jell-O units. Hmm...

Today was routine check and clean day, since the weather was good and it was a bank holiday I've cleaned the car inside and out including inside the boot, I've done the oil, water, tyre pressures and to top it all off, changed the air freshner inside.
