What have you done to your car today?

Washed the MR-S, again. Black car in a wheat field area is a pain to keep clean. Oh well, black is best.

Black is best, although the gravel lot at work doesn't agree with me.

I picked up a second set of wheels yesterday - Warranty returns from a maker I won't mention. Flaking clearcoat. Cheap-Cheap. I think I'm gonna stick some Azenis RT615's on 'em after I have them media blasted and powdercoated some sort of gunmetal color. Or mabye gloss black.

But today, all I did was get the aforementioned wheels cleaned up. Spent about twenty minutes per wheel with a toothbrush and some SuperClean.

Washed the car twice, vacuumed the interior and febrezed the interior. Forgot to dust off the dash so I'll do that tomorrow.

I spent all day washing and waxing it today. I'd say time well spent. It looks pretty good as of now, except for the bit vetween when I got something in the applicator pad and when I got a different one.

Replaced the headlight surrounds with new pieces.
Old ones were yellowed, cracked and scruffy looking as can be seen in the second picture.
A simple touch that's improved the car's appearance somewhat. 👍
Still got to get the paintwork blemishes seen to, as clearly there's quite a few! :(

JCE, what year is your Camaro? I own a 92, but mine is dark green. I also noticed that your tailights are different than mine. Are those exhaust tips from a 4th gen? They really go well with the square tailight shapes.:)

I ordered most of my LED light replacements yesterday as well as a huge amount of misc stuff on ebay for the interior/exterior. I also have a set of H4 headlight conversions that replace my crappy sealed beam headlights. I've already got the Silver Star Ultras in there. Its going to be really bright at night when I get them in. :D

As Toronado says below it is a 1990. I'm going for a hybrid look with the '91-92 rear quater/bumper look with the '87-90 front/side ground effects. Plus, I'm having someone polish and smoke out my tail lights (minus the backup light area) and front turn indicator lenses. And I'm debating on whether to grab me a Z28 hatch spoiler. And those are 4th gen Z28 exhaust tips--looks rather good if you ask me with the '91-92 bumper.

His is a 1990, if I recall correctly.

👍 That is correct. :D

Good work, looks phatter and sportier.:)

I agree. I love large asses--on cars and women. :D

After discovering a dodgy valve (tyre at half pressure) I was finally pushed to buy a new set of rears as the tread was starting to get low on them and I got a 400 mile round trip coming up in July. I know that's not one hell of alot but I haven't had a proper road trip in it yet.

And after a groaning sound started coming from the steering when turning at low speed I decided to check the power steering fluid to see how it was. Turns out it was abit low so I toppe dit up today. My only issue is it only needed 200ml, and there's not mention of volume in the manual, would that really be enough?

And I'll eventually get rid of all that F-ing sahara sand.

I finally took the winter tires (Michelin Alpins) and put on the summer rubber (Bridgestone RE01-Rs). I had to wash the horrible BMW brake dust off the winter wheels before putting them away, even though I had just washed the car a few days ago.

I also put in a gallon of Rain-X washer fluid (well worth the couple extra bucks per gallon) and checked the oil (spot on).

I started polishing the beater today.

I think I'll only do one panel at a time, just to keep the motivation and energy expended in check. I've done the bootlid. And after 14 years of neglect, a full cut and polish sure does make a difference!

The cut got rid of quite a few superficial scratches and marks too, so 👍.

You were going to give a "full report" on them.

Now, where is it?
Well, they work. Obviously you know the "driveway flex" our cars have, and that is barely noticeable anymore. It just feels more solid going up ramps at an angle. It feels like the wheels actually hit the ramp and go over it instead of benind around the ramp. Also, those tiny vibrations when one wheel hits a bump on the road have nearly disappeared. It feels much more like a new car. And plus I've got the confidence that my suspension now has a much more sound structure to work from, as opposed to it and the chassis working against each other.

I don't think I'll be able to notice much in the way of cornering stability over bumps and steering response improvements until I get better tires. They gush.

I just ran my Revo, it's working great. I do classify it as my car.

That isn't doing anything to it, if we all posted that we drove our vehicle today this thread who suck. Keef's post was a great example of what this thread should be about...it should entail something of significance with your vehicle. It should also be a real vehicle, not an R/C car. Please stop spamming in these threads.

====

I rewired my rallye lights today to come on independently from the high beams, there are times when I need them but not the high beams on (when no other cars are around of course). This is mainly during poor weather. I think I am going to get a set of yellow bulbs for them soon as well.

Calm down dude....

I didn't know what a revo was in the first place, so I just sort of skipped that post.

Rocking the fogs without the headlights is awesome. Now get yellow bulbs or film to cover the lenses and you'll be set. Yellow fogs are just as cool on Euros as on Japanese cars.

I'm just growing really tired of post like that popping up in various forums from various members. I tried to convey the message as best as I could without saying something that isn't allowed.

Nah I prefer to only use my fog lamps in well foggy conditions. I just need some yellow light to help break up the HID blue/white tint when it snows.

Autocrossed my car; I'll update my thread with pics when I get home Tuesday. More autocross lined up tomorrow as well.

My tires very much hate me though - they gained 15 psi of pressure by the end of the day :P

I painted my previous side mirror the same color as the one that I replaced from my other car. I did that because a deer hit it and just now its been warm enough to do work outside.
Im also ordering my General Tire UHP right now too lol.

And the LEDs have arrived and been installed. I'm happy so far, they are quite awsome actually. Backup lights are next as well as some for the rearview mirror map lights. I also need a hazard flasher that the LEDs can use.

I ordered these for the turn indicators and brake lights:

I tried to align the petrol filler flap on the beater. It was all wonky and not flush.

I took it off and inspected it. It need some persuading downwards on the top hinge. That had it flush on the hinge side, but the locking side was well in past the bodywork.

Some pliers to the clasp and a small packer glued in place, and it'll do. It's not perfect, but it's not noticeable like it was.

I also took the chance to remove about 5 stickers that said "Use only Shell Premium", "Use only Mobil 1" etc , and give the door and the recess a good clean.

👍

Didn't get around to polishing anything today though.

While my car sat in the sun all day, I did clay-bar, polish, and wax a friend's car (A Cobalt SS Supercharged). B-e-a-utiful.
With a bit of luck on mother nature's side of things, it'll be my car's turn tomorrow.

The southwestern Ohio region of the SCCA and the Miami Valley Sports Car Club have little to no autocross events planned this year. They're all at a local, crappy speedway, using a pretty unimaginative layout on the infield of its tiny oval. Wright State University wouldn't let SCCA hold races in either of its parking lots (one of which is massive and allows for a lovely long and windy course), and there's no events planned at the ADESA car auction place, either. WTF? There's very little passion for motorsports anywhere in my area. There's a surprising amount of proper enthusiasts but not enough places for any of us to go.
