What is PD up to ??

It wasn't mentioned at E3 or TGS was it? I don't know, it's kind of a big feature really. I wouldnt get your hopes up too high about changing panels and stuff like that. You don't want to get all excited just to be let down, i would rather hope for less and then be pleasantly surprised when we get more.

Kaz has mentioned visual/aerodynamic customisation several times. We are almost certain things like that will be in the game. The only thing we are not sure of is to what extent you can customise your cars. For all we know, it could just be a carbon fibre hood (new for GT5) and the old spoilers recycled from GT4. That would be very disappointing, but that is what is expected as a bare minimum as of yet.

Well, I think the tuned cars in GT5P is proof of that we will be able to change body kits and such things.

hmm "tuned cars in GT5P is proof of that we will be able to change body kits and such things. "

i thought that these tuned had real version as well....

Well he means the GT concept tunes. As in, they were modified by PD in the game.

Its not proof, but i think it is an insight into what we might see.

Although i kind of agree with Perkel, some of the tuned cars were ripoffs of real life counterparts:
Viper/tuned --> ACR Viper
Corvette Z06/tuned --> Corvette ZR1

etc.

The tuned Z06 its in now way the ZR1, in a visit to their studios Yamauchi said (Mentioned, told) this:

Translation: In the Shop there will be a lot of parts to Improve your car, the creator (of the game, Kazunori) Was very proud of this feature, he commentes that you could change practicly every imaginable piece of the car. Not only the tipycal Engine, Brakes (chassis in general) parts...

So I ibelieve from that interview, that if he says you can change everything, apart from mechanical parts what would it be? Tinted Windows? halogen Ricey Headlights? or Exterior Modifications?....We will Kever Know...Until March

Now Serious, im pretty confident it will be possible at least to add carbon fiber hoods, spoilers, splitters and rims, and in some cars Bumpers and Widebodykits.👍

Yeah, the tuned 'Vette is more a C6.R than a ZR1.
I hope the body kits and parts will look like from the tuned cars in Prologue, it would be like the good ol racing modifications and not some ricer trash.

Come on people, You are already getting a taste of the concept car's in gt5p. And as well you were in GTHD

#1Racing steering wheel's, with the GT logo on them.
#2 Custom Racing seat's.
#3New rim's.
#4Highly detailed Roll cages.
#5"Body kits"
#6Wing's and spoilers Front lip spoilers and splitters."
#7Different exhaust system's.(That actually have Bigger tips" A first for the GT series" With New Deep raspy sound (Very loud when echoed through the track's.
Love the exhaust on the Clio, look's like a custom masterschleif GT exhaust system.
#8Different guages( Tuned capucino Has turbo and oil, volts guages.)

Kaz is shoving the new tuning feature right in our faces...

Big hint's from GTHD.

Tuned car's had Front lip spoilers. And different exhaust systems. The miata and Cappuccino had a Fat round "JDM" looking tip.

Has no one noticed this?

Still just wishful thinking though.

Many people thought about this already, including me and dozens of the forum, i just wouldnt take that as a fact. It would be amazing though.

The cars in GTHD Concept had only a bit body tuning, the F599 had none.
The only car that already looked completely over the top in GTHD was the Cappu, with its frontspoiler plus the black hood. In GT5P all the tuned cars look like racecars, with huge body kits etc. If we get many parts in both categories i would be really happy.

I'll be honest I've noticed that too. them tuned ones in GT5P got me thinking "yeah, this is a bit of a taste of what's to come"

Same here. I missed race mod every game since GT2, and giving a sports car a body kit and racing livery is way too much fun in Forza. And providing a range of licensed aero parts will be a lot easier than doing a realistic damage implementation. I'm pretty hopeful on this part. Still have my fingers crossed for a livery editor...

I've just had a thought. there's 1,000 cars in the game. Witch means obviously different versions of the same model.. etc. So there can't be a tuned GT version of every car unless it's available as an upgrade like the race car thing in GT2. Get what I mean? So instead of having a selection of bodykits to choose from, you can upgrade the car to the tuned version.

Maybe, that could be possible. But now that I see it, with customizable aftermarket parts of the cars possible, I actually see a reason to own similar models of cars in my garage (Like a '93 NSX is modified while I keep my '95 NSX a sleeper) ;)

It would be nice to have the light-weight mods save weight & to have it clearly shown. I think in Tokyo Extreme Racer you could have a full carbonfiber body and leave it un-painted
to save weight. I am for any thing that gives me a better power/weight ratio.

Yeah i don't think this hints at car customization or the extent of damage.

They are simply accurately modeling the Sema car. Because the car has no front meshing that would normally hide these things they had to be modeled in full 3D.

That's all, end of discussion.

While that is true in this case, what is also relevant is that, as KY mentioned in the TGS09 interview is that with the damage physics, parts of the car will fall off, so they have to model the inner parts of the car as well... @50sec...

so some of this modelling will extend beyond just that SEMA car...

👍 I like your logic.

I like it too. In fact, Duke (I think it was Duke) and I were posting a few years ago about there being fewer race cars and very few tuner cars available in the car list. You could take a street car, tune or race mod it, and get an entire warehouse full of additional cars. And if there's a livery editor... well, no limit to them.

I'm pulling for this. I don't know if it'll happen, but the potential is there.

Or we could be getting 500 actual cars, and 500 'Concept by GT' counterparts. :P

So what is PD up to?

Everything else then this guys is doing!

But lets get serious.. Game is around 5 months away! why wont PD give some new info now? Wait is killing me, some good info, day night confirmation, showing off livery editor, body kits, and new damage engine... even rubber marks! show us something NEW PD! Once 2010 starts, game will be around the corner quickly! So why wait with showing some new feature? Build more anticipation, so casual racers will be excited for GT5 game and not expecting just HD GT4 game.
