Like I said. I thought Black was unnecessarily over-the-top. Sure, it was a comedy, but I think he could have done a better job at pulling off an addict.

As for the rest of the movie, I guess it just wasn't to my liking. For instance, the retard that Stiller plays (I can't remember the name), I just thought it was stupid. An excuse to 'laugh at the retard!'. I didn't think it was offensive or morally wrong or anything like that, I just thought it was stupid. I mean, 7 year old kids in the playground will pretend to be retards to get laughs...

Then congrats. You caught the message that scene was portraying. Do you not remember Downey's character criticizing Stiller's for that movie? He was essentially calling him stupid, taking it too far.

Interesting movie that I watched on TV a few days ago. It's close to the idea of P2 (deserted parking garage, pursued by someone) but out 2 years before. Basically this guy (Tom Weaver) is leaving after a hard day's work, but his car won't start and the elevators don't work. He could walk up to the top and ask for help...except he's being attacked and chased by someone in a beefed up K5 Blazer...

Each level he gets to, he finds out more and more of the story. He finally reaches the top and suddenly his girlfriend gets caught up by the madman, as bait for Tom. Tom rescues her and just before the police show up he finds out who the stalker is...
it turns out to be the main parking attendant/guard/maintenaince man. He essentially snaps because everyone is too stuck up and busy, with not even a minute to ask him how his day is.

Overall it was a decent movie. Some lame acting but plenty of good action, I'm a sucker for people chasing after others in large grungy vehicles. :P So I would have to give it a 7/10. Oh, speaking of which, there's a sort of cameo in the movie...a man in a car that looks just like Dennis Weaver and his car in the awesome thriller Duel!

Days of Thunder (1990) -- Cole Trickle is a former indy car driver who wants to drive in the NASCAR series and win the Daytona 500. As he is unused to the bumping and such in stock car racing he is not doing well in the beginning. Will he improve and fulfil his dream to win at Daytona? This is by far the best racing movie I've ever seen. The cast, the picture, the soundtrack, the story are all very good. This is a must see for every racing fan! 8,5/10

No offense, and I respect his opinion, but that movie was one of the most boring movies I had ever attempted to see.

Don't be offended though, some of the car flicks I like includes:

Grand Prix, Ronin, Gone In 60 Seconds(remake! whoo!), The Fast & The Furious(I'm not done yet), and......... Driven! :sly:

Felon - Starring Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer

My first thought going into this movie was, "It sure seems like Val Kilmer has not been in a movie in a good while or maybe I just have not noticed any of his more recent work". I did not really have many expectations for the movie mainly because I had never heard of it. As the movie progressed, I found myself wanting to watch more and more of the movie; the movie made me want to know how the story would end. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie is. It was excellent. 👍 I enjoyed the story, action, and acting by both of the leads. Val Kilmer nicely slipped into the role of a lifer inmate and Stephen Dorff fills his role an unfairly tried husband/father. Definitely check it out! 👍

Saw Fight Club again.. the first time I saw it I didn't really get it, but now I kind of do and I really liked it. I loved the acting.

You need to get out more. ;)
Given his age and the horrid quality of racing movies that have come out since Days of Thunder (as a6m5 inadvertently pointed out) it is quite possible for this to have been the best racing movie he has ever seen.

Now, if he is willing to see movies made before the decade of his birth he might find out how sad that statement is.

Dude, you're not supposed to talk about Fight Club! :ouch:
yeah man, you just broke the first two rules of Fight Club!
I believe you guys are just making it worse. Stop talking about, well, you know.

How would you know?

Because anyone who thinks Days Of Thunder is anything more than just barely watchable needs to experience more of the world. It's got Robert Duvall in it, so it's not horrifically bad, but still.

Alternatively, stay in and make Netflix your friend, as suggested above.

Last i saw the movie The Dark Knight . It was even better than I expected. Most of the comment is about Heath Ledger. He is no longer with us, but his performance as joker in this film is everlasting. The film's storyline has many twists and all are rewarding, the story is developed constantly after each scene, making you wonder what's next. Excellent craft and flows well towards the conclusion. I liked this film very much.

Tropic Thunder. Robert Downey Jr deserves an Oscar. Probably the best comedic role I've ever seen? Maybe just because it's fresh in my mind? I wonder how many extra takes they had to shoot because of people on the set laughing at some of Downey's lines/monologues.

Absolutely hilarious movie.

I checked out Love Guru & The Planet from the redbox rental.

Love Guru was not very good. While this was a better Mike Myers comedy flick than the third Austin Powers, it IMO was totally outclassed by his good ones like So I Married an Axe Murderer, Shrek, first two Austin Powers, etc. Totally outclassed. It was just OK rental to me.

The Planet on the other hand, this is the type of low budget, B-Sci Fi movie that makes you want to blow your own brains out. I remember back prior to the 90's or so, B-flicks were often enjoyable. Now days, most of these "straight to DVD" movies are unblievably horrid. The Planet was worse than that. Avoid at all cost!

Saw this last night. Thought it was pretty good, but nothing fantastic.

Burn After Reading - 6/10

My friend's wanted to go so I said what the hell and went. Sadly, the only reason I wanted to see it in the first place was because Pitt acting stupid.

Unfortunately, he acts more gay... which of course the girls like.

Anyway, it was ok I guess. Not something I would've paid to see if I had to do it all over again.

Burn After Reading is one of the best movies of the year. The Coen Bros don't disappoint. It wasn't predictable as you would expect a slapstick sort of thing to be. The acting was superb from superb actors. One of the few comedies that doesn't just try to be funny, but in fact realizes that you can't just try and throw jokes into a comedy and ignore the other aspects of film making.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

I'd watched this many years ago, but not properly. It was with friends, and we were drinking and talking all that jazz.

Last night I sat down and watched it like a proper movie.

And I thought it was quite good. It's extremely cheesy and 80s, but that's its charm. In short period of time it excellently sets up the carefree lifestyle of American high school (I guess it could be a pioneer for later movies such as American Pie were high school is a great carefree time...), and then manages to
bring it all crashing down when Stacy gets pregnant. Just like Stacy, I was taken aback and could feel everything changing in the blink of an eye. And then when Mike doesn't even take her to the abortion clinic, it really portrays the feeling of betrayal.

For an 80s movie it's great. It's got some great stars in it (Shawn Penn), and it's well worth a watch, even if you have seen it before.

Just saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Some scenes were funny, others weren't. It was an OK comedy overall but it was more of a romance movie to me. Either way it wasn't bad overall.

P.S...i love kristen bell...:D

I saw Syriana again. A very fine political thriller. Loaded(and interesting) cast, thoughtful plot, very nice cinematography.

This is a great film to watch on DVD, because it is very easy to miss some detail, and it helps if you can rewind to the important scene/dialogue. Plus, you can just pick up where you left off last, as I have yet been able to watch the whole thing through without falling asleep. :P "A"

Eagle Eye

Didn't have big expectations of this one.

I don't have much to say, because I found it so underwhelming.

I think it would have been better if
it hadn't have been a computer controlling everything and it was a society or department or whatever of special agents or something. :S

And they should he used Jerry Ferrara more - he's great.

I just found the whole thing lacking, unfortunately.

There Will Be Blood - 7/10

Hmm... well I'll just say if it wasn't for that hilarious ending this movie would've gotten a 0 or been classified worse than Lost in translation. I found myself asking where all the blood was during the whole movie... Well, the parts where I wasn't snoozing anyway. I just don't get all the hype surrounding this movie. : shrugs:

I agree. It was decent, but most of the people I went with just had a big "WTF?" look at the end.
