The Couch Trip - 1987 Comedy Staring: Dan Aykroyd, Walter Matthau, Charles Grodin, Donna Dixon, David Clennon and Richard Romanus
A Cook County Mental Facility inmate John W. Burns, Jr.(Aykroyd) escapes for a few days to LA to do a call-in psychologist radio talk show, following the attempted suicide of its original host Dr. Maitlin (Grodin). Burns, Jr. steals the identity of the Cook County head psychologist, Lawrence Baird (Clennon), to do the show and becomes a huge hit as both Baird and Maitlin go on vacation. However, homeless misfit-to-society Donald Becker (Matthau) recognizes Burns as the escaped convict he his and blackmails him to "sharing the good wealth.'"
Although it is a funny movie with a great cast and very zany characters, it's either a 'love it or hate it' kind of movie. A classic 80's comedy that shouldn't be missed. It's filled with funny lines and moments that's sure to get a laugh or giggle. Fantastic and hilarious performances by Matthau and Aykroyd really make this movie worth while.
Example: Becker is seen sucking out the jelly of some donuts. With five of them in his hands with tiny straws stuck in them he asks, "If anybody wants a donut without jelly, they're ready."
Funny, zany and silly is on order here with simple humor, but don't expect to feel anything else. I like this movie a lot, and give it

How To Beat the High Cost of Living - 1980 Comedy/Drama Staring: Susan Saint James, Jane Curtain, Jessica Lange, Richard Benjamin, Fred Willard, Eddie Albert and Dabney Coleman
Three women facing financial hardship plan to steal money from a lame shopping mall stunt.
I didn't care for this movie at all. I was completely apathetic to their situation. The worst characters I've seen a movie in a long time. Not very funny, but had a few chuckles. This movie was definitely made to appease the working class woman of the day. Unrealistic male figures that included them being either lazy, incompetent, sleazy, stupid or vulgar. Oh, please.
Most of it was boring, so I fast forward through some of it. Tells you a lot, huh? Even the Mrs. Lifters had problems with it. She said it reminded her of all those stupid laundry detergent commercials where the man is a total idiot. Sound like fun? It's not.
