What Phone Do You Have?

I'm having a big dilemma here....

Well i don't know what to do here. Should i use my money to buy a PS3, an iPod or a new handphone? But since my father has outlawed buying the first 2 things mentioned, i guess i would be better of buying a handphone. Well i'm being a little out of budget now and i really really want to get a qwerty keypad phone which has an internet. I really see my fathers Nokia 9300 has internet and qwerty keypads and it is definitely awesome!!!! (better than my N-gage) At least i wouldn't be bored during the long journeys....

The thing is now, what type of smart/ PDA phone could you guys recommend me? I thought of buying one for less than 300US$ (most probably second-hand) and at least has some good functions (a camera would be an added bonus as well) I thought of buying a Nokia or maybe a iPhone, but those phones are way over budget for me. :indiff: So any of you guys have any suggestions?

I found out I have a year left on my contract to Sprint... I thought I only got a 1 yr plan. I died a little inside...

Turns out if you're going from Verizon to Sprint the grass isn't greener on the other side it's a ****ing desert...

Two weeks ago my VZW Motorola E815 died, which was quite possibly the most tragic thing that could have happened to me at the time. So because of that, I now have a Motorola Z6TV, which will be a Z6M tomorrow after I finish flashing it.

I just got a Verizon Wireless lg enV (envy) in green. I really love this phone, it has a lot of nice features and its wrapped in a nice looking package. Already downloaded "pardon me" by Incubus as a ringtone.

Don't tell me you paid for that ringtone... oh well.

My bro has had a few enVs, and aside from managing to break them every 5 months or so, they seem pretty good. Just do not use AIM or MSN unless you have a full data plan, as they will use your minutes as well as your texts.

Lol, why can you save files as ringtones w/ the enV?

Well I've had my Samsung mobile (9mm) one for a while and never had a problem, but the other day i sat down with the phone all a skew in my pocket and snapped it in half. So I've just ordered the Nokia 6300 based on a few reviews I've read, apparently its basic but does the job, I'm not a big fan of flashy phones and i don't need loads of features, so this phone sounds perfect for me, anyone got one? would love to hear your opinions.

Sorry to hear about your Samsung:lol:, I guess these things just happen.:grumpy:

For a minute I thought I could have helped you there:idea: as my Mom has a similar looking Nokia, but its not the 6300, a 3110. Sorry!

Heres my Phone:

Sony Ericsson W610i

Overall im really pleased with it, I think Sony Ericsson's are great, its was a great deal too!👍

Thanks

Tommi:)

got my phone, so far i like allot, easy to use and set up with my mac. Also the build quality seems very high compared to other phones i've had, but i think this is down to the metal face and batter cover.

I am getting a new phone in a couple of hours and am still yet to decide.

We got HTC6800s at work a couple of months ago. Windows Mobile 6, slides open for keyboard, portrait/landscape switching, tons of memory.

Syncs with our Exchange server for calendar and mail, has WiFi, Bluetooth, wireless Internet. [And makes phone calls!] Love the phone, with 2 caveats:

Bluetooth absolutely SUCKS on it. No BT capabilities like file transfer, networking, etc., just a headset connection and file push to a PC (but not receive from). Also, 90% of the time the phone locks up if I turn off the headset before turning off BT on the phone. Mildly inconvenient.

Voice dialing is weak, has to be trained. My previous RAZR recognized spoken contact names without training. However, the voice training can include installed applications, so I can say "mail" and it loads Outlook, or "Maps" and it loads Google Maps Mobile that I installed.

👍 I'd like to try one of the new HTCs. A Blackberry with a larger screen, or an HTC are the only phones that could sway me away from my iPhone right now. That is untill a 3G 32GB iPhone is (hopefully) released.

ugh. I got demoted to a old Nokia 3565 type when my crew mangled a Sprint CDM-120 by leaving it in a coat pocket that slid under an equipment seat.

You'll be very satisfied with any of those, really. I still love my K800i :)

I ended up getting the k800i 👍

I'm quite pleased, it's basically exactly the same as my k750i which I really didn't want to get rid of, but I had to because the joystick carked it. That was what made me hesitant about getting the k800 and consider the w660, the joystick on the k800 is exactly the same as the k750 that I (and many others) have had trouble with. But I asked the store guy and he reckons because of the problems of the k750, the k800 is better designed and if it breaks since I'm on a plan now they'll fix it for free anyway.

The camera is great, much better than my old one, not only in resolution but in clarity overall, I took some pictures yesterday that I'll post up soon. 👍

EDIT: However, the Sony Ericsson PC Suite doesn't work with Vista 👎, it probably sucks anyway, but that's not the point.

Good choice. 👍 Actually the joystick isn't the same one, it looks the same but the technical side is different to prevent it from hoovering in all dirt it can find.

Indeed, it is a serious rival to the cheap digital cameras and I have a feeling that this thing might well be built around a "real" Sony camera instead of the low quality cellphone only hardware some others use.

You may have an older version, the Sony Ericsson PC Suite 3.107.00 is said to work with Vista... Get it here!

I currently have 3 phones, 8gig iPhone purchased at launch, a Blackberry 8830WE and a Blackberry 8130 Pearl. I'm selling the iPhone though, love my BB's more. I'm picking up the CDMA BB Curve when it comes out this year, that's the next on the list. RIM sends me these for free anyway so I'm not worried about constantly dropping money on them. Here's my iPhone and I skinned my BB's with the iPhone icons, etc. :) Old pictures of them BTW.

Ive got a older Motorola Razr with Fido, I really want to change to another carrier because I do not like Fido's service coverage and they do not offer ANY Lamb of God ring tones for download where as almost any other company has atleast a few.

That's EXACTLY why I would drop a carrier!! :dopey:

Dude, make your own ringtones. It ain't hard!

Its rather easy and there are several services that will help you do it. For free.

These guys for instance = http://www.myxertones.com/

I used them after reading all their terms of service. Never gotten spam text, random phone call, or anything kind of advertising from them ever.

I'm jealous of that 8830. I've been considering a switch to a BlackBerry from my RAZR for a while, but it has also been dependent on me buying an Eee PC or not. But now that I've got to buy a car, that may have to be put on hold too...

We'll see. My first opportunity to trade-in comes next month, I may just go with the Palm Centro.
