What update 1.21 proves...

They took a week to fix the tire wear issue that made a mission (with a one time low credit reward) effectively unplayable for some.

They took a whole month to fix the rain radar that made Spa (repeatable 1.5mil event) effectively unplayable for some.
Maybe fixing an entry in a lookup array is easier than finding something that breaks the UI in the middle of an event when the UI doesn't break in similar events.

Assetto Corsa is more of a simulation than GT7. Your average GT player isn't really concerned with things like tire temp and pressure. I'm sure the majority, myself included struggle with car setups. Also, ACC only has 2 classes of cars, both race cars to worry about modeling tires for. Whereas GT7 has everything from low powered street cars to Gr1 and F1. People complained that running a no stop race was too easy, so PD responded with more tire wear. As I said with the variety of cars it probably isn't as easy to implement as many would believe.
See, I'd lend some credence to this argument, but Forza Horizon also exists. With tyre temp/pressure simulation if you bring up telemetry. From five years ago no less. The FH series is probably the epitome of "sim-cade" but still gets tyre modeling somewhat correct, even if they lean more into the arcade part of simcade.

I came here to say this.

The quick fix is all well and good, but it has literally zero value for anyone who has already completed that mission. And we all know most people didn't hang about in getting through that single player content!

For stuff like lobby issues, there could be some underlying problems within the netcode that they just haven't been able to figure out.
And to be fair, their netcode has never been that great in any game, even GTS. It's not like they're working from a base system that is highly effective and they just need to squash some bugs. They're probably squashing bugs at the same time as fighting the innate limitations of their system.

It's tough when you've got a project like that, and it's easy to say how it should have been done from the start to avoid the problems altogether but that doesn't do anything to help solve the problems that you have now. Part of me feels for them (as someone who spends a lot of time at work going around unbuggering other people's stuff), but part of me also thinks they made their own bed on this one.

Pointing out that people are hinging their arguments off words never used and aiming their anger at the wrong responsible party is not defending "this".

Going after PD for your interpretation of what Sony said doesn't make sense. Go after PD for not adding selling cars yet like it said it would do "near-term" six months ago.

I see, so the point is that we shouldn't be pissed at PD but at Sony. ... I find it extremely naive to think that Sony would promote the game in any way without having talking with its main dev, PD in this case. They can't just promote it without knowing the basics of the game itself.

I wasn't talking about lawsuits either, which I also believe would be worth nothing in this case, because as you stated, and I'm aware, its not specifically stated, but associating that line with anything other than cars is... foolish to say the least. But again, worth nothing in a court ...

As for the back cover, it does have some similar phrasing/wording so I confused it with the advert, mine is in portuguese and says the same as yours (collect, tune, race). Sorry about that.

Don’t take this the wrong way as I thoroughly enjoy the community here and believe it is an invaluable resource for fans of the franchise. The simple fact that PD doesn’t run their own forum on their own website to communicate with their customers really gives the perception that they don’t actually care what we think. Then when they do make changes that do not align with what the player-base has vocally expressed a desire for, it only reinforces that perception. As far as we know, PD doesn’t monitor what happens here at all. THAT is their biggest problem at the moment.
While this is a good idea, why do I feel that there's gonna be a lot of censorship or post deletion by them?

Just play the game, ya'll! Enjoy what you can of it. I don't agree with everything (Mr. Gallo if you're here, we need to have a word about your AI counterpart, lol) but it's still been hours of fun for me.
There's stuff I had trouble with and just left alone, but my reflexes aren't what they were when Gran Turismo 1 was released.

Bolded the problematic part. The vocal part of people is so often comprised of such morons that it's just good that they get ignored.

The textbook example of this being the FFB disaster we're still suffering from. The original FFB in GT7 was a poor showing, then it was completely revamped and became great in one night, but the small amount of extremely loud people who have little to no idea about how the steering feel dynamically changes with speed and downforce loading - and who think that heavy FFB automatically equals good FFB - made so much noise in every available channel that PD was forced to revert the changes and come up with the emergency lie about reducing power to prevent injury. It was a legitimate FFB update and the correct thing, from the developer's point of view, would have been to keep it and tell the complainers to 🤬 off but of course it would have been extremely bad PR so they had no other choice than to go back to the previous version and ruin the experience for everyone because a small minority screamed loud enough.
Yep. The problem really was the ffb was crap on release, then it was changed... if it had been good on release, that we know they can do in GTS, this erroneous perception could not exist.

And until the FFB is at least as basic as GTS, there's no way I'll be playing GT7 competitively and I'll be convincing all leagues that I'm in that they should not be using GT7 as a platform. So far I've been 100% successful in this.

I do think tyre temps should be included though - and it has been before (GT4?)

Even at low level racing like Karting tyre temperature is so important and requires little tuning knowledge to understand

Hi,

I want to bring up another theory ...

- what we or some of us think is a high priority ... For good reasons personally - has no high priority for PD and the larger Player base.

E.g. selling cars is not vital to play the game, even if it is helpful. You don't need any of the functions priorized by more or less hardcore players - to have a Fun game.

But if you take away the casual player something he uses often - then you have a problem.

...that PD are able to quickly fix issues and release a patch any time they want/need, not just as a monthly thing and not part of a trickle feed of additional content.

So this means with the current and well documented serious issues, PD either somehow don't know about them (!?), don't care about them or are not able to fix them and/or have completely wrong priorities and resources allocated within their business.

I find this disturbing.

About a year late to the party on this…

But taking your theories at face value, PD also could have patched the Tomahawk Glitch in a matter of hours as with the engine ticket glitch 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you ask me (I’m well aware no one is asking me anything 🙄), it looks like there’s a lot of moving parts going on between Pd And SONY. They’ll figure it out, and we’ll benefit.

Nah, it's more that when they do have a quick fix there's nothing stopping them from putting it more or less straight out. The Tomahawk and engine ticket glitches seem like they involved relatively complex systems that bled over into other parts of the game, so a quick fix may or may not have been on the cards.

I mean, they could have just disabled the Tomahawk from being used or something and that would have been a "quick fix", but they still would have had to come back and make another change to bring it back to functionality. It would seem they instead chose to let it ride until they could implement the permanent fix they wanted. That's a reasonable choice, although it probably would have been even better if they'd just said that was what they were doing.
They’ll figure it out, and we’ll benefit.
Benefit how? We're talking about bugs and patching, so by definition the player is already at a detriment thanks to the issues with the game. Some bugs are to be expected, but fixing them is also to be expected and I'm not sure I'd label streamlining the bug patching process as a benefit. That's just Game Support 101, it's expected as part of the purchase price of a AAA game.

As far as the ongoing issues, it doesn't change anything. Six months in if they haven't fixed a major issue it's not because of barriers in the patching pipeline. It's because they don't have a fix, either because they've chosen not to work on it or because they can't figure out how to fix it. The situation is compounded by their lack of communication, because as time goes on people are less likely to give Polyphony the benefit of the doubt that they're still working on fixing this stuff.

Update 1.21 proves that how exactly?
Every complaint is about online. All the updates favour online racing then effectively they go out there way to change how the cars general set up’s are. Why do you think every time there’s an update all of the pp points change and the gear ratios that where set are all adjusted.

These are the patch notes for 1.21. Nothing about online, PP updates or gear ratio changes.

PP updates are attempts by PD to stop people exploiting the Tomahawk for grinding credits. Where are the complaints from online players about gear ratios?

I also wouldn't say "Every complaint is about online". Most othe complaints around here are about single player content.

The handling and gear ratios keep changing.

Unreal game 10/10. But why do they keep messing about with cars handling every update. It’s complaints in forums there clearly reading

I like to think of updates as costs. Each update costs x dollars to ship. If I, as PD update GT7, how much money will I make?
If i fix these 10312423456344 bugs, will I make more money? If the answer is no, then what will make money?
If I add 10 cars and a new track before holiday season, will microtransactions be used more? Profit! Ok do that!

If I can't add 10 cars right now, then is it better to waste our money fixing bugs for zero profit or do nothing? Ok do nothing!
Going back to recognizing patterns though, it seems like they focus more on player exploits than actual problems.
Because if players keep getting "free money", that renders the pedantically crafted MTX economy useless. It's really that simple.
