$600? How do you figure?

I've still yet to buy a PS3 because of the old prices and the lack of any interesting games, because I'm in a similar boat as you; my budget can be better served elsewhere, and I really only play the big titles. FF, MGS, GTA, and GT. If you happen to have a PS2 or access to one, I'd actually recommend hunting down all the old MGS games because they're really entertaining and a good time waster (I just went through MGS3 again last month before I do go and get 4). I have no idea what the RPG genre looks like on PS3, and I haven't heard anything too positive about XIII either, so can't say anything there. Little Big Planet doesn't have you curious at all?

I can't argue with your logic, though.

I Googled it. The PS3 costs $586 here in Australia. The average game costs about $100, and I'm guessing a decent steering wheel is roughly $150. All up, I'm looking at about $850-$900. That's the same amount as I get in a month as study allowance from the government (but that has to cover rent, food, fuel and other expenses). The problem is that I don't have a job - I'm twenty-three years old, living in a town that depends on the university for its survival, so there's a lot of younger people around who can be employed for less. And I'm studying a degree (well, a diploma) with a lot of compulsory hours in it, so I am not very employable despite my experience. Even if I had a job, that money would likely go back into my rent. It's hard to justify spending that much money for a video game console, least of all spending it all for the sake of one game when I still have GT4 lying around; I suppose I could sacrifice the steering wheel if I had to, but I've never used one before nd it sounds phenomenal. Hell, the only reason why I got a PS2 in the first place was because I took a year off from school and worked odd hours while all my friends left town. Given that there wasn't much else to do, gaming was a good way to unwind on weekends. Right now, November 2011 is the earliest I could buy a PS3 because I'll enter the workforce. But I've lost a lot of my love for (and, I admit, my addicition to), and I don't want to stray down the same path again. As such, GT3 is a pipe dream right now. Unfortuante, but that's the truth of it.

What will I do first in Gran Turismo 5? Buy the most underpowered car I can find, fit N1 tyres, then thrash it round the Nürburgring and feel all those torturous years of horrid arcade driving games just lift away... :)

I'd go to Arcade mode and do what I have done in every racing game I currently own: go full throttle into the nearest wall.

My buddies are going to think I have a new girl friend, I'm just going to drop off the face of the earth for about a month.

Exorcet's guide to GT5

Step 1 - gain infinite cars and money from GT5P

Step 2 - go online

Step 3 - host ultra realistic ALMS GT1 class race

Step 4 - Continue racing until controller/wheel breaks

One problem with that: There is no GT1 in ALMS

There was, and there is at least 1 ALMS GT1 car in the game with more to come. I'm sure he meant that he'll host an ACO/FIA GT1 Race.

The bigger problem would be that he plans on hosting an event that there will be few entrants for. He's one of the few I've seen on here that is willing to bypass starting over for credits from GT5:P (Assuming you can sell GT5:P cars and gain credits from them). So whilst he's waiting to host a GT1 race, everyone else will be starting from scratch and still driving econo-cars.

You should put 'Check for Mission 34 Garbage' on the poll cause that really will be what I'm gonna do first :/

im going to get my car...
crash it into the living room..
take apart my cars steering wheel...
set up my DrivingforceGT in my newly acquired life size car cockpit..(with functional cup holders)...
and DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE like ive never driven before!!

Look at the RUF dealership and start drueling at the amazing figures.

I'll either: Do the first round of licenses are therefore win a free car which I'll use for beginner races, Buy a Mazda RX5 '98, the same as I have done for GT3 and GT4.

do the nasty in the dealership showrooms...

the presentation of the cars is beyond professional standards to me.

I'll probably just stare in awe at the home screen for 10 min just knowing that I am actually going to play this game, finally.

Forgive me as I just bought a ps3 (and gt5p) for this game (i preordered). I am an avid PC Gamer but being a sim fan I had to pick this up (my last console was a sega CD).

I can transfer my cars and my cash from GT5P to GT5? So I wont have to wait to grab a few of my favorite cars? That would be very nice. Is it just a menu button to transfer, hows that process work?

Thanks guys.

Drink sour milk, so I can get a few days off school.

We don't know yet for sure. Right now, cars earned in GT5:P may only work for Arcade mode and it may/may not be a complicated process.

I would think there would be some sort of menu option in GT5 to load your GT5Prologue 'Save Data' if it doesn't already do it automatically when you boot up GT5. Not sure how GTPSP data will work though since I don't own a PSP.

Hmm...so it may not be wise to keep winning daytona with a tuned vette over and over again to obtain millions of dollars 35k at a time to transfer to gt5? ;-)
