I agree, it's hard to compare them at all. Aside from both being driving games, they're really geared to different markets. And as nearly all of iRacing's content is sold on an a la carte basis to begin with, where as DLC is a relatively new concept for the GT franchise, no doubt it will be marketed differently.
The value of anything can often be described as what somebody is willing to pay for it--what the market will bear. There are some people who would probably be willing to buy their favorite track or car at a truly outrageous price. And there are probably a large percentage of people who will NEVER buy DLC for GT5, regardless of price. There is of course, also the question if Sony is willing to take a hit, just to keep GT5 in people's minds, a year later, and with new competition. I'm guessing a re-release of the retail version of GT5 with DLC included is also in the works. And there are probably a lot of people who will go and buy it again, or buy it for the first time. And this could also help supplement the cost of content production.
