What's your $250,000 dream garage?

All of mine would be used.
First year model of the v10 m5 with the 6speed manual.
07 X5 with sport package.
My CBR 600RR n 1000RR, which would be free since I already own the. Then I would added a hypermotard and SV450 motard.
Hook my 07 Civic with a nice Tein coilover kit for track use.
The rest would be used to remodel my garage for the toys.

Well, if you want, you can have tax as extra outside the allowance. I doubt anyone else factored in tax, I know I didn't. :)

Thanks, but I think I'll just keep my choices. It's a good but short list ;)
If the car is registered and has valid plates attached, you can almost be sure tax is included in the price. Unless, of course, the seller hasn't informed you the car's taxes haven't been paid and you're left with an illegal ride home. At least that's how it works here and, I'd guess, in most parts of Europe.

Land Rover Defender 90 in yellow with some off-road additions for my camping vehicle, although I'd probably daily drive it pretty frequently. ($45,000)

Datsun 510 in orange with a nice drop and some rims for my classic cruiser. ($10,000)

Jaguar XJ SuperSport in Cavair Metallic as a daily driver ($125,000)

I'd take a Dodge Neon with an SRT-4 swap too as my weekend racecar since it'd be nice to own one that works  ($10,000).

AC is important, in a tropical country. I've been looking at the UK conversions and most leave it out, even the D15 kits. But a local maker sells a D15B bracket with an AC adapter so you can move the compressor around to clear everything. Nice touch.

And a K20A costs $7k here. i could buy a whole lotta Advan A032s (only road legal R-Comp available here that'll fit) for that money.

The only thing that is from NASCAR with that car is the body and the ignition system, everything else was built by Hendrick Motorsport and the car is set up for road racing, and it even says the engine has hardly any run time XD

Subaru Impreza WRX STI (new) - $45,000 CAD
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X (new) - $50,000 CAD
Nissan LEAF (new) $50,000 CAD
BMW M5 (used) - $40,000 CAD
Honda S2000 (used) - $17,000 CAD

Total: $202,000 CAD, $48,000 remaining. Good for track days, maintenance, other stuff.

I know, I was more taking the 🤬 than anything else :sly:. And as stated by the owner, it barely fitted into that Mini. Pretty bloody quick little thing though.

Hell, the B16A barely fits... Can't imagine the fabrication required for the K20...

Well, let's see.
Nissan/Datsun S30Z, € 27,000 for a Z in good condition. With all the necessary modifications (including an LS7 if I had it my way), I'd probably be looking at ~ € 60,000. Should look something like the Z below.

Yep, one of those would definitely be on the list, except in RHD. 👍
That Fulvia too zylacorps. 👍
Also that K20 Mini would have to be added to the list. 👍

Right, how much do i have left? :D

(Click on the pics for the used ones - applies to all but the XJ here)

To be honest it would be really mostly ideal to spend 11k on a car that did everything for everyone, perhaps a little something like this

And spend the rest of the 139k on the other parts of my life. (I would actually take a Familia GTR over this, but you can't find one. That said, the chances of seeing a Pulsar non-molested on the market today is about none. The above is an exception)

But if I had to go deeper

Because this is my favourite Evo, and the Evo is my favourite. £33,400. Would be my complete car if it were any cheaper than the Pulsar.

This is the only saloon I'd buy at luxury level today. 5.0 V8, 91k. Jaguar XJ Supersport.

Vauxhall Monaro VXR. 6 litre version. While the 5.7 still looks nice and saves more money, it isn't powerful enough. And that means less fun. With this there is a lot more power and it looks simply bonkers.

The only thing I'd really feel like buying with the rest of the money - a CR-X del sol. Nice enough I suppose, who knows, I might be able to make it to an LM one day.

I'd be left over with £270 with all that. I'm not a practical man I know. :/

Unless I take away the CR-X, that leaves me with 1.5k. Which is enough given fuel, and the fact I'd keep all the rest of the cars stock.

I'd do what all people do, which is having two practical cars and/or daily drivers, one or two expensive sports cars (or the car type that suits your preference) and then variety, the latter's price tag depending on how much there's left.

In the end it is having posh transportation (1), your hobby (2) and toys (3). This is why you don't see ferraris on the street every day but you see ferrari owners every day.

Actually that happens a lot with motorcycles, considering they are cheaper therefore variety and luxury are affordable and that scooters are much practical than a sports bike.

edit: Actual picks. For transportation it could be an expensive mercedes plus something "crash-able" and reliable (so my wallet doesn't really hurt if it gets damaged. Can be used to carry stuff and others without feeling guilty) like a volvo station wagon or an old range rover. As for variety I'd get 80s or 90s cars that I always liked and a not expensive sports bike (compared to the cars), and the tough one to pick is the sports car but my preference is owning a unique one (special edition, rare, one out of 200 made).
Jeremy Clarkson has always been right about this and shares the same view as I do including brands, even though he says the opposite on top gear (more like trying to mask it). This is how you build a garage and you can get better cars following the same pattern as you progress, until the point money is no longer an issue (billionaires) therefore can straight up buy a zonda f roadster, enzo, reventon and whatnot sports car like they were toys (3rd category).

Feel free to convert the amount into your currency if it means you can buy more/better cars.

250k US would be 300k NZ, I think. Curious that the SLS is so much more expensive there than in Europe or North America.

That would be due to swapping to RHD I think, and that it probably costs a fortune to get cars over here.

Heres my garage:

1.2003 Lamborghini Murcielago black on black $143,995 4,309 miles on it

2 2010 Volkswagen Golf Gti Tornado red $19,750 40,049 m

3.1985 Buick Regal Grand National black $24,900 11,306 m

4.1996 Chevy Impala dark green-grey metallic $21,900 19,853 m

5.1989 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Red $12,900 41,824 m

6. 2001 Mercedes Benz CL55 AMG Silver $12,900 105,436 m

Which leaves me $13,655 left for extras. All the cars on my list were found at local dealers on AutoTrader.com.

Nice choices. Sometimes I forget about good old Alfa Romeo. I want to own one some day. Then i can finally understand first hand what Jerome Clarkson means by "you are not a true petrol head until you own a Alfa Romeo".
