I would just like to tell people to read the description of the video from the Sony channel before saying this is a spin-off...
Indeed, everything is there for anyone who still has doubts about this.
"In addition to everything you'd expect from a GT, the team at Polyphony and the FIA are introducing an online racing series that will be recognised alongside real world motor racing by the FIA."

Maybe we get more info at PSX? Idk it's a lot of questions unanswered. Hopefully @Jordan can do a Q and A with Kaz really soon. And hopefully one of the questions are is this a full blown gran turismo game?

Denouncing GT Academy as "BS" is a decent start.

No, this is what you think it will be. Nobody has a clue what it'll be.

This:

Is all that anyone knows.

We know it's an online championship where players represent themselves, their countries and can also in some still unaccounted way represent a specific manufacturer of their choice. It is coming in an online Beta next year and the focus is heavily on the online aspects and previous academy features.

Ah yes... I should have thought that one through... I really do hope that they mean business with that description. If it's everything we'd want from a GT game and then some with the FIA Partnership, a more appropriate classification would be a reboot rather than a spin-off.

I'm interested in seeing what the physics will be like given that this game has a more competitive nature to it.

I've always found Gran Turismo 6 to have very impressive physics, its one of the reasons I love the game. And whilst it couldn't compete with the likes of iRacing and rFactor 2, it feels to me a lot like Assetto Corsa once you remove all the assists and what not. I'm very interested in seeing how they expand on this, they seem to be going for a less casual route with this title and I'm very interested to see just how authentic of a driving experience they can provide.

Heh, looks like Jordan mislead a few of those who frequented this thread a month ago, when he said not to board the hype train to Paris... you naughty you...

Ever since @Jordan's 'Wham! Massacre of 2014', I was unsure what to believe from him...

Still, what a way to mislead us all.

Jordan (presumably) will be attending the SEMA show where Kaz will be judging on November 4th, so there's a chance we'll get to more about GT Sport as soon as next week.

So basically, it's just like the announcement trailer for Gran Turismo 6. It displays a handful of new features (mainly new cars) and little else. Lets see what we get over the next few months....

This forum has been moved out of the "other Gran Turismo Games" section as well......now has its own section....just happened i think.

It was moving around for quite awhile - since I jumped in here to edit the OP in the AI Hub - which was maybe an hour or so ago. I pity the Admins at a time like this - however - they do a really great job keeping us up to date - so a quick 'Thank You!' thrown their way. 👍

Good thing we have other games on other mediums to keep us sensible people satisfied. 👍

Now let's get out of here before we get lynched.

Good thing we have Free Will, too, eh?

The name 'GT Sport' was in the pipeline for a while to be fair. I've been hesitant to refer to the game as GT7 because of it. Whether its a case of quality over quantity this time around is too early to make certain. It is a change for the series. It's a spin off more than anything else. Still, hyped for the BETA in 2016! That is, if it isn't delayed....

What do you guys think, is Gran Turismo 7 a title that isn't going to happen? Or is this game Gran Turismo 7 Prologue with a different name and focus, with Gran Turismo 7 development in full swing? There's still some questions here.

That said, I'm hyped.

I have probably never referred to the next iteration as GT7 - or hardly ever, not that I can remember. I was always under the impression that the Marketing Gurus would come up with something else - numbered sequels can be numbing so I would refer to it as 'the next GT' or 'the next 'iteration'. But is this going to be the final? Will we break away from the numbers? Or merely add them? I can't see it being called 'GT Sport 7' or 'GT7 - Sport' . . . . so this points to a 'Prolouge'-type hype situation - but that, too, would be just a induction.
One thing's for sure - they wanted to get something out soon to prevent the GT market stagnating as well as dangle a carrot before the eyes of long-time fans who were impatient for the next serving of GT, come what may.

EDIT: Also, what's with the age range of "7 to 77"? Like really, can that really be anything other than a hint of GT7?

Good and bad Marketing strategies in there. Good that they emphasize the wide spread of age, but bad that they limit it with specific numbers. We have +77s here that really kick ass in this game.

So it's just more GT academy online BS then? What a waste of time.

I never once clicked on my GT Acadamy sector of the game - it came and went with me just glancing at the icon which always said 'NEW' till it disappeared off my UI.
It never interfered with my game, though; there was plenty of other stuff to keep my attention.

This is very important given some of the speculation going on about the game

Building on its legacy as the most realistic and accessible driving simulator, GT Sport has partnered with the FIA to push the boundaries of racing games. In addition to everything you'd expect from a GT, the team at Polyphony and the FIA are introducing an online racing series that will be recognized alongside real world motor racing by the FIA.

That's from the trailer description of the official Playstation Youtube page.

They probably mean the visuals and physics etc.

Still need information about damage and sounds, underwhelming reveal to be honest.

That's not really what he was talking about though. The weird and obscure age range with the exact number used just seems like a little easter egg.

Guys.

Those new cars on trailer, with the new AES sound recording System currently present in Lotus 97T, GTR LM Nismo, etc.

Lets see who won the sound war now!
