its not going to get there till it comes out on a better system.
consider this. gt3 was good, now gt4 is running on exactly the same system. there have been no system upgrades, no processor upgrades, no ram upgrades, no video processor upgrades, your ps2 is exactly the same as the one you played gt3 on. thye can only push this now old machine so far.
If they add something now it usually means something else has to suffer so the game runs smooth.

I'm extremely happy with gt4 and would be very hard pressed to find anything to complain about. in fact it would be the limitations of the console and not the actual game I would complain about anyhow :)

👍 👍 👍

I could have done without a number of the cars though for better sound. Thats the only problem I have with GT4. Like GT2, way too many options for cars. Come to think of it, it's not that the sounds are bad, just that a lot of them were incorrectly applied to cars. How can a Audi R8 with a flat crank V8 sound like a Skyline GT-R? The Focus RS with full race exhaust sounds like a tractor, and the Subaru 22B ST-I sounds like an old Audi below 4500 RPM and like a sewing machine above that.

I am wondering if the person in charge of assigning the sounds is a car enthusiast as they were just wrong. On the other hand, the Type R and the Levin BZ-R are fantastic, so are the Nissan LMP cars. The Mercedes CLK-GTR is also lovely as is the BMW LMP car, the Mazda 787 and the Batmobile aka the Toyota TS02 GT1.

Perhaps it's because you are using a mono tv?

Nope Im using a Sony MHC-ZX70 Stereo. Don't other people have the issue when the camera flies over the starting grid you're blown away by the noise, but incar you can barely hear anything of the sound?

I really like the sound of the R34 M-Spec Nur (02) stock. It's not very loud, but it sounds really refined and distinct when compared to older Skylines, etc.

And I dont know why, but adding a racing transmission always adds that annoying whining sound that makes every car sound generic.

Duuuuuuuuuude, I think it's a tie between the Ford GT40 Race Car '69, and the Dome Takata NSX, those are some unique/odd/bad ass sounding cars.

I've gotta agree with you there on the GT40 Race Car '69. Thats about the only car with a beefy V8 engine sound.

I like the sound of all the GTR's with stock muffler as they do sound exactly like their real life counterparts. The R32 sounds exactly like my car in real life so thats good. But like I posted before, a lot of the other cars sound lame. The Impreza's sound weird, and they dont even have that boxer *rumble* sound. They sound like normal 4 cylinders.
It makes me wonder when they advised that GT4 had all the car sounds recorded from the actual cars themselves. But judging by the sounds of the Impreza's and when you apply a racing muffler, its almost as if they mixed up the engine sounds by accident *shrugs* who knows.

I actually think that so far, the best engine sound in my garage is my civic type-r.

It has a racing exhaust and a stage 1 turbo (i think... i would have to check) and sounds great, especially when you rev at the start line!

I was greatly dissapointed by the MB mclrn. SLR, i was hoping for a good deep v8 hum from that car.. oh well!

R92 CP race car...hands down:sly:  Polyphony Wasn't slick when there asses tried
to make the R390 GT1 Race Car sound like both the R89/R92 although they both use the same engine the R89,It probably had it first.....But Still....:odd: The R390 Never had that sound....NOT SLICK!!:banghead: :banghead:

Someone said the Woodone Supra sounded the best, but I checked it out and it sounds boring/bland/non-unique. I like a unique sounding car. On the Takata Dome NSX, in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears, it sounds crazy...

I haven't play far into the game yet so I don't really know how it sound for each car. In real life, I love the sound of natural aspirated (non turbo) with individual quad throttle and trumpets. I'm addicted to the ringing sound when it revving.

Trueno86GTV, ever listen to the big pipes of an M3?

That's my favorite sound right there...Especially when there's a little moisture inside the tailpipes, that thing sounds like it will rip your balls off.

WOAH, great expression, first time i heard an M3 was on a long stretch in london.... i think he was redlining it and the car had this amazing metallic rasp to it. starts out clean then shreicks in your face, great stuff.

I could care less about any sound that any car makes. As long as the physics and performance of the cars are good, the sounds of them are nothing for me to shout madly about.

Honda S800 RCS Race Car!!!..
That little bugger sounds pretty good from the rear view, and is a absolute blast in the Japanese light cup with stock settings!

So far my favorites are the V8 Vantage, and (surprisingly) the stock NSX's

I also agree with some other folks that the '69 GT40 racecar is pretty satisfying as well...

Dude, I totally agree with you there, especially about the SLR. As Clarkson said at the time “it sounds like a Messershmit” :) After all, they both use supercharged Benz engines!
