The Takata NSX howls & you can gear the gear whine come through over 4500 rpm.
In GT3 the Zonda race car was my favorite cause it sounded so raspy & pissed off, just like a V-12 Lamborghini, really. Haven't won that mission group yet so I don't know how it sounds this time. Anyone?

I was in Italy last week. We went to Mirabilandia and there was a stunt show where was a REAL SHELBY COBRA! And I must say that GT4's sound is pretty far from that loud and american sound, unfortunately :(

well i would advise you kikie to try the car i suggested, the rs200 rally car (ford).......made 1984/5 ('84 stock model, rally car '85). its got a throbbing low revv range then as you rise it quietens mid range then step on it and it sccccCCRRREEAAAMMMSSS!!!!!!!!!!! :dopey:  👍 :) :scared:

Just tried the rs200, sounds nice. 👍

There is a misunderstanding about my previous post
Kikie
I think that the "new" cars in GT4 have better sound than the "older" once.
I meant by "new" cars, cars that weren't in the GT series before, cars that are new to the game. And older cars, cars that were in the GT2 and GT3.
New and old has got nothing to do with year of manufacture, in my previous post.
Sorry

Fearturing these "new" cars, gave KY the change to record the sound beter than before. It think that the stupid sounds of some cars are due to the "old" PS2 configuration. It will be better with the PS3, I hope.

we can only hope. i wish they got some 100bhp+ cars in europe like the ford fiesta and citroen saxo, good fun cars like those have been missing. instead we have shopping trollies that NOBODY wants to drive and sound ****.

anyway, ps3 will hopefully provide realistic simulation of sounds :)

lol sorry to say that 427 aint really fast! lol! well it is, but not in gt4 terms lol. my skyline in both my sig and avatar hits 272mph, and my cadillac cien and clk-gtr hit 300mph+!!!! now thats :scared: :scared: :scared: specially with a gt force pro, cant hold the wheel straight! REALYY! :scared: :scared: :scared:

lol, nice skyline, like the pic. anyway, have to agree with you on the crappy saxo's all over the place, too many idiots thinking thyre 'badboys', whenever i see a RARE (and i mean rare) V8 grumbling past, i go all psycho and start laughing like a little kid, infact i go all nuts when i hear a sweet impreza boxer 4 burbling.............(thats 3 so far today) so im a bit hyper

LOL dont get me wrong i hate boy racers but i love the ford fiesta zetec s (mk5) and citroen saxo vtr/vts. when they aint modded all boy racer style with 50 foot exhaust and "badass" stereo (that adds weight so = not as fast :yuck: ) the cars are a great drive. great chassis on both of them, specially the saxo. the fiesta seems a more mature car.

anyway, cousin has a new pumaspeed exhaust (no, not huge, its a proper performance exhaust kit made by ford) and boy it makes a sound! i would love to see this in gt4. have ya tried the rs200?

I think the Ford GT 40 has the best sound I ran this one quite a bit but the Dodge Viper Concept has a great rumble too.

Watch out for the snake bite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!VipermanGTS

AMAZING aint it!!!! god somebody post a video of it revving. ill try and get the hardware and software to do it just so i can watch it when i cant play the ps2!! its engine is the best EVER! anybody else heard it????

427 aint fast well thats with only a 30hp nos shot n yesterday me n my cousin pushed a midget with my fully modded pescarolo c60 race car at test course doin 370km/h with me in the pescarolo behind my cousins midget

Just got an RS200 rally car, sounds 👍
But as a owner of Group B rally car DVD I must say that it sounds different in real life AND RS200 Road car sounds **** in game. Peugeot 205 T16 is close, not perfect and Lancia Delta S4 is NOT EVEN CLOSE. :( :( :banghead: Also every car should have louder ENGINE sound.

True, regardless of what exaust mod is run on my '99 GT4 Impreza, it doesn't sound like my car's headers/HF cat/2.5" exhaust, though at low revs it has a hint of what they are thinking that none of the other cars in the game share. It sounds like crap but it IS different, so I guess I can't complain. The tires are the same way, but that's another story.

In my RL car the gear whine is louder than the exhaust over 4,500 rpm or so but at 1,800-3,000 the muffler is chuging on my car. Lets be glad of what we have, hope they read this, and we will have EVERYTHING in GT5 for PS3. The thought makes me forget I have this game. Ugh.

Im not impressed with any of the sounds of cars in GT4 tbh. None of them sound at all like real-life. They all sound quiet and wimpey. Any old V8 should sound really rough and loud. But they sound like, well, my mums Ford Fiesta makes a better noise and thats a 1.1litre W Reg car.

I AGREE COMPLETELY WITH BOTH THESE STATEMENTS.

first of all the engines do not dominate the sound as much as they should ok maybe the wind is loud, but **** me a screaming 800hp car doesnt just make a squeak (LOL) does it??? we wanna hear huge sounding pumping chugging engines where you can literally hear the pistons.....

with the second statement, i think they really should beef the sound up. i cannot understand how they have possibly done all this sound testing and got it so wrong. the deep throbbing noise some of the cars should have aren't present. personally i think we should email/write/phone polyphony to advise em lol

Yeah I kinda agree with what you are saying about the sounds. I love GT4, I think its fantastic and won't hear anybody unfairly dissin' it, but I also admit when a game I love has problems. Even though all the car noises are recorded straight from their real life counterpart, a lot of the cars just sound a bit too much like a vacuum cleaner!

However, there may be reasons for this:

1. When watching a race replay, the sound you hear is what the camera hears from where the camera is positioned, and so the cars will sound more distant. Doesn't solve the issue of the in-car view however. The rally cars sound just like they do on TV though, as do the touring cars.

2. Any exhaust, apart from the stock exhaust, has a silencer, which will take away the grunt of the engine sound.

3. Your sound setup has no bass (but you should still be able to tell a V8 from straight 6 and so on)

Some of the cars do sound right though (surprise surprise, the Japanese cars.) The Skyline GTRs have a wonderful low rev sound that verges on menacing, as do the newer Mitsu Evos. This doesn't forgive the general lack of engine noise personality though.

Saying that, the TVRs sound great. They have definately captured that gritty, monster of an engine in the Cerbera and Tuscan.

Vvvvvvvvvvhhhhhhhhh!!!! and away!

yeah the sounds on the outside tend to be ace, especially going 250mph down the mulsanne straight :) very satisfying.....

i kind of agree, but since when do performance cars have silencers? i believe that the engine is bloody loud in even 100hp cars like for fiesta's. when that car revs to 5000rpm you definately know about it. however in gt4 its a vaccuum sorta noise for similar cars (being as the fiesta isnt featured, instead we get shopping carts :(:(:()

i believe that the majority of cars sound ok, similar to their counterpart or something near to what the engine would sound like. however, some just do not satisfy my sound urge :)

do u use a 5.1 surround system with the game? If so, I think u can distinguish the many different sounds of the engines from the game.

Anyways, back on the topic, the best sound so far is the FPV Typhoon (04) stock!!!! Holy ****, this car is loud and mean.

I haven't read through every single page. But today I felt like fixing up the '05 Mustang GT, tuned it up a lot (NA-Tuning Stage 3, all the engine upgrades, Racing Muffler is a must have.)

And the thing sounds mean as hell, you definitely need to check this car out, especially if you have a nice stereo/speaker/surround sound system. It sounds ten times better than the Cobra R, since some honda's sound meaner than the Cobra R.

Overall the Mustang GT might be my new favorite sounding car..
