Which car to use in ''Like the Wind'' lvl 21 A-SPEC Mode?

I did it in the Mazda Furai on the Indy circuit and the Bugatti Veyron on Daytona... these races are all about drafting... you can't keep up if you just to run alone. And yes, for the Indy race.. you really have to time the ending properly, so you come onto the final straight in 2nd or 3rd and charging hard... if you are in 1st, you will most likely get drafted.

finally did it with the furai on indy, and the veyron on daytona. did it with the furai first try, (but don't always come in 1st thereafter), the veyron took me a little getting used to. It's like driving a rocked powered train that can't freakin stop to save itself. Took me around 10 - 15 restarts before I finally got it.

I used the 787B, sucks if you don't have the Stealth pack though!

I've heard the ZR1 with RM goes like stink, seeing you get it free, try the Veyron? No idea how this would do, it's a shot in the dark there. Or with everyone having X1's to trade, pick one of those up if you can! Or an FGT.

I used my ZR1 RM and it was so easy. Doing Indy totally flat out I just smashed the LMP cars. However, my B-spec driver didn't try to do so yet.

I just went back to finish these two. Indy with the great Toyota GT-1, fully upgraded, full downforce, pretty easy. Daytona with the Escudo, fully upgraded, full downforce, for me it was a challenge but doable. Cheers!

I used the Minolta Toyota 88C-V (?) race car. You win it off another challenge and that can compete with the 787B. I have it maxed out and its somewhere around 1015 hp and about 850kg if I recall correctly.

Just take a quick look at the list of cars you win because I don't remember what race you win the minolta in.

But other than that, the ZR-1 RM is great like everyone else said. I destroyed everyone using that.

If you notice that they are getting car ahead in the corners (especially at daytona), make sure your car's ride height is lifted enough. On the high speed corners of daytona, your car fenders may rub against the wheels causing you to lose some significant speed. This happened to me on the Nascar race and I ended up in 12th (last... so depressing) while every other track, I got first or atleast podium.

Okay, I bought the ZR1, got the RM done on it and tuned it on everything, plus added racing soft tyres. Meant I had about 890BHP in the end.

And yet...went onto the Indy event with great hope and expectations, and got completely and utterly hammered by the LMP cars! Then tried Daytona, which went every so slightly better...was able to get into second position, but then the car seems terrible under braking - just spins out!

Anyone able to suggest what the problems I'm experienced might be? I'm going to try the setup mentioned in this link - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=145198&highlight=ZR1+Tune - but that seems to only be for the Indy event, although if that works I'd simply have to grind I guess until I'm able to afford a LMP car perhaps?

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions. It is by far the most frustrating event I've experienced in the game so far!

I guess it is just finding the right tune for your style then. You really shouldn't be braking into the corners though. Just keep mashing the gas and turn. The car slows itself by about 20mph. If you can't do it flat out, make sure you have racing softs on.

I did both with a tuned up Viper acr. Love that car :sly:

Care to share your setup? I bought this car last night and maxed it out. I can not get it to turn in on Indy with any decent speed. I would much appreciate a winning tune for this event with this car.

ZR1, add racing modifications in the auto shop, tune it as much as possible (I think I had 880bhp), buy racing soft tyres. Put downforce to the max and the same in transmission settings. In the race you should be able to get into first in about 3/4 laps. Then just try and block off the minolta.

This setup on the Zonda R ' 09 did the trick for me:

zonda - tried seoulspirit's build (won indy with it) found here --> Zonda R tuning

furai - (dotini's build)
Ride Height-------------0 / 0
Springs-----------------13.0 (F) / 11.0 (R)
Dampers (Ext'n)-------7 (F) / 4 (R)
Dampers (comp)-------7 (F) / 4 (R)
Anti-Roll Bars-----------4 / 2
Camber------------------1.8 (F) / 1.2 (R)
Toe-----------------------0.00 (F) / 0.60 (R)
LSD----------------------15/50/25
Brakes-------------------6/3
Downforce---------------Maximum F & R

Set TCS to 6 or so with race tires.

Perfect setup I think for the two races. I won pretty comfortably eventhough, at first, I had to learn the Zonda's movement. Rather heavy to stear, but once I learned it, it just smashed the others on the track.

So i won pretty good on daytona with a Bugatti... I had like a 7 second lead at the end

But im getting killed on Indy with it. And I dont really wanna spend 700k on a car for one race. Is Indy winnable in a NASCAR? or anything else a little cheaper?

I know people have won with the ZR1, but i dont have one and dont wanna spend 700k on one car just for this one race. If I can do it in a nascar that'd be cool because i can use it for the nascar series too.

X2010 = easy win, I use it to level up B-Spec drivers after getting annoyed that the crash for no reason and retiring them. Seriously, using this is like the fastest way to re-level up your driver if your now stuck at level 21

i'm pretty sure it won't do :/
however, u will not regret spending some money on the ZR1! :D u could also use that one later on, in the American Championship! :D
you could also rank up your B-spec driver to lvl 14, and enter the Gran Turismo World championship(use the veyron u won in A-spec) and win the Zonda R. some of my friends made it with the Zonda R! :)

Alright, i guess ill bite the bullet and go for the ZR1. I forgot theres the American championship to use it in too.

hi, just to say this doesn't apply to everyone.
Basically i couldn't find the right car for ages, but the simplest thing to do is if one of your friends happens to own a formula gran turismo, just ask to borrow it. Flat out constantly and one of the easiest events, if done in that car.
this may not be the most helpful post, but just a tip.

Man that was easy, thanks for convincing me to get that ZR1 haha, I won with a 2.8 second lead. No blocking needed. Time to enjoy my Minolta :D

I won this one with the CLK GTR won in the AMG intermediate special event. I think the only things I did to it were oil change and better tyres.

Ok, I've barely passed the gran turismo all stars championship with a bronze in the RM Corvette ZR-1. Now I'm trying the like the wind, I have all the fully customizable upgrades, but where do I select minor figures like the downforce, braking, height and top speeds? I've looked everywhere???

Use the ZR-1 for the Like the Wind Daytona event, default settings should be fine (I suck at racing games and so I use traction control, skid recovery, etc.). Make sure you have done the race car upgrade and then fully tune it (don't fully tune it first, as you lose the upgrades when you do the race car upgrade). For the Like the Wind Indy event, use the Mazda Furai. You can win that in one of the early B-spec races. Fully tune the Furai. Step on the gas and don't let it go. You will have to block out several of the other cars to win. It is a lot of fun and a great way to make $$$.

After you win Like the Wind, you will get the Minolta. Fully tune it and then you can ace GT All Stars.

I am an amateur when it comes to racing games, but I used this strategy to win Like the Wind and it was very doable. If I can do it, almost anyone else can.

do the amg flight academy challenges and by beating one of beginner, intermediate or advanced you win the mercedes clk gtr race car! it can win any race in this game! you might have to play around with the transmission for like the wind on the oval track but i won! and put racing softs on it!

if anyone is struggling to get a fast car, just do the flight academy challenge and you will win this car and you own the game :D

I used my gifted (in the delivery van) older race cars for this and added some turbo hp and soft racing tires and easily beat the AI
