Who is still going to play gt4 when gt5 comes along

Not me. I not going to shell out the $$$$ for a PS3 untill after they drop in price by alot.

I shelled out the cash for a new PS2 and vowed not to spend more than that on a new game system.

Besides. I still have to complete 1 game of GT4.
I have 1 game at 96% and another around 65%.

Sooner or later I'll complete one of them.

I probably won't play GT4 as soon I get GT5, thats the point of getting the next installment of the game, it's better then the previous one.

And why are you giving GT5 a thumbs down?

I really think that the cost of the system is going to be the biggest reason people will continue to play GT4.

Unless they release a scaled down GT5 for the PS2 too.

I'm with PARAGON GT and others. I have no problem getting thru GT4 slowly over the next couple years. The PS3 will have a lower price tag by then, and I'll have driven many hundreds of the cars I'm interested in, without rushing and missing out on some of the gems.

If history proves correct: GT5 should have less cars than GT4,so by the time I've got a PS3, there won't be so many cars I'll want to drive.

And viper-GT2007: I'd have to disagree with you--here at GT planet, folks are still talking about GT1 and 2! There will still be plenty around still discovering GT4 for the next few years to come.

Because i wont get a ps3 until there like £150:grumpy: so its gonna be a long time so like no one will be talking about gt4 anymore, look at gt3 now not many people talk about it.
I can't see why people think PS3 is SO expensive.. I mean an ordinary Blu-ray player costs more than a PS3 and the PS3 is a multimedia system on wich you can listen to music, watch video clips, browse the internet, watch blu-ray and dvd movies, store pictures and play the latest gen games!

Not all of us have money to burn. I personally am in debt and being very dilligent about getting out of debt. Spending money on a new videogame system is low on my priorities...I'd rather take care of the rest of my life for awhile.

Smart move. 👍 There's more important things to life like the house/car/kids combo. :)

I abandoned GT3 because of GT4's used car lot, same as I did with GT1 for GT2 on the PS1.....otherwise I'd be playing GT3 still. So unless GT5 has as big a car lot as GT4 then I don't think I'll abandon it just yet. And the PS3 is still too much....I'd rather get a Wii right now due to the price differences!!

Also, Blue-Ray might be the future and more than the PS3, but like all things it will come down in price eventually. Remember, DVD was $1k+ when it came out, now you can get it at any shop for $20-50.

Mafs!!

I abandoned GT4 in May of '05, but not because of GT5 or the PS3, which I can't afford and won't even consider buying until it costs $200 or less.

I still occasionally play GT3.

I have six kids, two cats, and 8 cars to feed.
A PS3 is nkot in my immediate future.
Unless my wife goes crazy and buys one.
I don't see that happening unless we get a huge screen TV, and put the big screen in the basement.
She already complains about how difficult it is to watch the big TV in the living room.

lucky me i got the ps3 already, and yes i will abandon GT4 when GT5 gets out! but i will probably play the gt4 if, the gt5 car lot sucks and when i get bored of the game.
a piece of advice: take a summejob og extra job and save the money for the ps3!
worked for me!!! :D

I don't own a PS3 and have no immediate plans to buy one.

That being said, I also have not even fired up GT3 once since the night that GT4 was released in the US.

I also have about 600 vinyl record albums, and never ever listened to a single one since the day I bought my first CD player.

But how often do you use your PS2 to watch movies or listen to CD's?

See, I think that is where Sony screwed up. Not everyone is looking for a multimedia do anything system. I for one have no interest in Blu-ray players, or have any interest in surfing the internet in my living room. I already have a computer that does most of that. I also have a DVD player w/ surround sound that also is a tuner and cd player.

The only thing I want my game system to do is play games. Sounds silly huh?

I bet if they cut the fat off the PS3 and kept it strictly a game system, the price would be much lower.

no offence, but cant take a summer job when you already have a full time job, wife and a mortgage. which basically takes up all time and money. so any time i currently have i play gt4 on ps2. this will probably continue untill my 40th birthday when the family get together to buy me another games system. (just like how i got my ps2 two and a bit years ago for my 30th).

Sorry mate, but I think I've done just about all I wanted to do in GT4 so when I get GT5 it will be a whole new world to explore and won't be likeley to wanna play GT4 anymore.

i can't abandon becuase i'm not even getting a ps3 in the first place..

if my parents gave me money (to supposedly) buy a PS3 80gb AND GT5, about 850$ (CAD; including tax).. I'd spend a hundred on a wacom tablet, 145$ on a full Marker set and about 20 $ for 2 marker sketchbooks, about another 100 for drawing books, another hundred for a NDS, 60$ or so for an R4 chip, another hundred to buy Einhander and 10$ to rrent a NFS:HP2

Smart move.

The temptation of Ace Combat 6 on the XBOX 360 (Argh!) will also most likely phase out a PS3 before it even enters my life. If the series stayed on PS3, though... *rushes to Future Shop*

I agree with you they should bring a £150 ps3 out which only plays ps3 games because since i got my ps2 i have only watched 1 movie on it.

I'm going to play GT4 for more time ...:)
The reason is the price of the PS3 (40GB) that is too expensive
in Italy now, 400 € (~ 570-580 USD )

I-R

lol! normaly people in ur age don`t play tv-games either because they kinda have other things to take care about! but thats cool!

Well... no. It's the damn expensive Blu-Ray drive and the chipset that are building up the price, and both of those are needed for running the games. Taking out the music support and the DVD movie support would be just a matter of writing new software code, which would actually mean more work, more pay for the workers, and ultimately a higher price. They could also take out the web browser, but as the web connection would still be needed for online playing it would be a similar case.

The bottom line: there is no pricey extra hardware to be taken out, so why not use the current hardware to the maximum?

I won't play GT4 much when I get a XBOX 360 for christmas because I'm getting Forza Motrosport 2 with it. It's hard to imagine not playing GT4 ever again (it actually hurts).

yeah i wouldn't really want music and photos and stuff, the game is fine by itself..

however, this reminds me of a recent time.. my friend was off to the electronic store on a friday to get a PS3.. He asked customer service and they said that the 40 & 80gb (only sold as those 2) can't play ps2 games, that you'd have to grab a ps3 from the US in order to do that. This True?

previously though, the 20 and 60gb were able to i believe..
