Who is still going to play gt4 when gt5 comes along

Not all Aussies are hoons ;) I was just thinking, with all the talk around forums, anyone would think GT5 was already here in the form of Prologue as most people have already left GT4.

heh yeah not a big difference..... 16 cars on track, interior views, online, G25 H gate + clutch support alone is a big difference. Hop in a RWD with no aids and pro physics and you will tell lots of difference right away (not to mention visuals).

and this is just from the Prologue...

Well speak for yourself. :sly:

Because i wont get a ps3 until there like £150:grumpy: so its gonna be a long time so like no one will be talking about gt4 anymore, look at gt3 now not many people talk about it.

I doubt the price will ever drop to £150 - There's simply too much magic in the PS3 for that to be viable..

If they drop to a reasonable $2-300 USD, I'll buy one. Until then... No. Not unless my non-lotto-playing family wins the lotto.

Alright, we have all have the inner hoon, but then there's the idiots that go lapping in a crap hole of a town on Thursday nights, wtf? I sincerely hope you aren't one of those people.

It will happen at some point, no doubt about it ... they'll cut costs by making the processors thinner and streamlining its innards. I could well see the PS3 at that price for the 2009 holiday season.

As for still playing GT4 when the sequel arrives - I highly doubt it somehow!

The price of a new PS3 won't be slashed for a very long time; trust me. Sony has lost money on every new PS3 they sell....according to the Car & Driver article I read last summer on Gran Turismo, Sony is waiting very patiently for PD to get their magic done.

They know PS3 sales will go out the roof when GT5 is out; but for now, they're actually losing money; hence, they'll make sure the PS3 gets a long run (at least 4 or 5 more years in my opinion) before dropping any prices.

Doesn't the standard Finnish driving test include a special stage through the woods in a race-prepped Escort Cosworth?

Yes it does. The car equipped with slicks, of course. :D

And back to the title;
To tell the truth, I really enjoy to play my old GTs, every now and then. Last time I ?reviewed" them, was because of physics engine of the whole series, til GT HD.

No chance ... they've already been forced to slash the price of the console several times in the various territories and the console is little over a year old.

I believe production & development of the Cell processor has already been totally out-sourced by Sony too and they will no doubt find other ways to cut their overheads and if nothing else Sony would atleast be forced to react to the inevitable 360 cuts to remain competitive.

We will almost certainly see another cut before the year is out, most likely it will coincide with one of the PS3's major releases like MGS4, KZ2, GT5.

Well I'm a newb to this site, and have sat trying to figure out how to introduce myself to the users on this site. I still play GT2 on occasion, but mainly stick to GT3 and GT4. No PS3 for me yet, but I can say without a doubt that it'll be tough to switch back and fourth from the fifth and fourth versions. I'm sure once I get GT5, I'll stick to that until at least 50% is completed. So any advice the masters can give me???

Really? Well this is good to know. I certainly have nothing against buying a PS3...the price has to be right, though. :tup

Haha lapping town? no thanks, we have them here too.

Im no master (modest!) but i would like to say welcome to the site.

And on a different note:

I love GT4, i have only just started playing it again after an entire year without it, because it broke. Like most do. But i find it very difficult to accept that GT5 could be any better, and if so, then i dont think i will bother buying a ps3 anyway! I'll think about it if and when the prices drop, or if i become a millionaire! But until then i find everything i need in GT4.

But another thing, alot of people are saying this forum will share the same fate as the GT3 forum, and although the basics are similar, you must remeber the most important factor about the new GT games, the price. With GT4 it was also released on PS2, just like GT3 so people ddnt need to consider the cost of getting a new console, unlike with GT5, and the price difference between GT3 and GT4 are nothing compared to the price difference between GT4 and GT5.

Relax! Theres more visitors to the GT4 forum each day,a nd remmeber a large majority of the people in GT5 are only there for either help, or info. And once they get that they wont come back, i know ive done it with other forums. Post one question, once you get the answer leave and never go back!

Same here ... there just doesn't seem much point until GT5 comes out though!

There's a medieval game actually that looks pretty sweet for the PS3. I'm forgetting what it's called at the moment...but yeah...I think a lot of people are gonna be waiting till GT5 is out.

Very true. I don't think GT4 will wind up being as slow as GT3 (which is often completely dead for weeks). It will be slower, though.

i can't abandon because i'm not even getting a ps3 in the first place..

if my parents gave me money (to supposedly) buy a PS3 80gb AND GT5, about 850$ (CAD; including tax).. I'd spend a hundred on a wacom tablet, 145$ on a full Marker set and about 20 $ for 2 marker sketchbooks, about another 100 for drawing books, another hundred for a NDS, 60$ or so for an R4 chip, another hundred to buy Einhander and 10$ to rrent a NFS:HP2

Okay I lied about that.. i WILL abandon GT4 because my PS2 is acting surprisingly stupid.

Other reasons: After in browsing GT5 videos on IGN, I want that game so much, that is the best graphics i ever seen on a game system in my whole life + the menus and Dealerships are so much more Professional and Advanced.

Also, I managed to grab a hold of Einhänder and Hot Pursuit 2 (not a rent), and I got a Wacom Tablet on Boxing Day so I'm a happy :)

I still do play GT2.. GT3 was rubbish. but now I'm also wondering that how in the heck I used to be so fast on a game that had such bad graphics+ I have difficulties recognizing cars that have less than obvious looks..

If I have a PS3 when the game comes out, I'll drop GT4 to play the new game. Don't worry though guys, it's not coming until at least 2009. That's 4-5 years of GT4. We can all move on after a while.

I dropped GT4 for FM2, basically because I dropped PS2 for the 360, however I just recently got my hands on the G25 wheel and I cannot let it go, sooo much better than the DFP, so until I get that PS3, GT4 and I will be getting reacquainted again.

I probably won't get GT5 any time soon primarily since I don't fund myself yet and the PS3 costs too much. Besides I'm getting the DFP soon and then it's time to clear mission 34 :)

Between me and the kids we play two different consoles. I play racinf games and was playing GT2 on the PS1 until my 18 year old daughter moved back a year and a half ago with her PS2. Since then I bought GT3 last year and then just bought GT4 a month and a half ago and so have been playing it. My two youngest play Mario, Donkey Kong, and Jet Force Gemini all of which are on the Nintendo platform. Since we've had teh N64 for a few years now the Wii is the next console we will buy and that will probably be in Feb when the taxes come back. I agree that the PS3 is way expensiveso with the wii being next I probbly will have to wait another year for the PS3, anyway they will be cheaper then.I also just bought TOCA Race Driver 3 andam looking at the Nascar 2006,07,and 08 games until then. You never know though, my wife might surprise me andget the PS3 as well at which point I wll still play these games until I have taken them to the end. I have to admit that I am liking Toca 3 as well.

So far from the opinions posted that I've read and my own evaluation of the demo I've played, I'm not even going to buy GT5, let alone put my GT4 away to play it. No f'ing way...

Yeah, the graphics are better, but the drive ability is horrible. The game has geared itself toward the drifting world now, so if you take the aids off, the rear end automatically wants to come around on every turn whether the car is FF, FR, RR, of FWD!!! How stupid is that? And if you decide to put the aids on, you don't even have to touch the brakes since it does that for you!!! What a ****ing gyp. Not even worth wasting the money.

I don't want to offend you, but if you're used to Gran Turismo 4, you've become accustomed to a physics engine that greatly underemphasizes the oversteer abilities of cars. When a car is near the limit in real life, it actually doesn't take that much work to bring the tail end out (of course this depends on the car in question and the way its suspension is tuned).

I will admit that I have yet to play GT5 Prologue myself, but from what I've seen and heard, particularly from GTPlanet members I consider trustworthy, it's taken nothing but steps in the right direction from GT4.

I bought the PS3 the very day it was launched. I have been looking for GT5 ever since.

I will keep on playing GT4 till I achieve 100% though...

Best

!! So did I!! Ever since I downloaded the GTHD demo off the net onto my PS3, I was hooked. I await the day until GT5 comes out, but when it does I'll probably alternate between GT4 and GT5 :D

Well seeing as how I don't have a PS3 yet I'll probably be playing GT4. But I think when I do get one I'll probably play both of them.
