I bet if they cut the fat off the PS3 and kept it strictly a game system, the price would be much lower.
Ah. So that's why you never participate in our GT4 competitions on GRM.I abandoned GT4 in May of '05, but not because of GT5 or the PS3, which I can't afford and won't even consider buying until it costs $200 or less.
I still occasionally play GT3.
IMO, the PS3 has very little "fat" to speak of, it just used an expensive new technology. The price has already gone down 200 bucks. Its a much better deal.
the 200 bucks was a bit of fat because wasn't it a HD reduction.?
Actually, I don't really go to the GRM boards anymore. I had a hard time relating to most of the members. Nothing against them, just not really my crowd.Ah. So that's why you never participate in our GT4 competitions on GRM.
Even after you bought a Miata? hehActually, I don't really go to the GRM boards anymore. I had a hard time relating to most of the members. Nothing against them, just not really my crowd.
Well... no. It's the damn expensive Blu-Ray drive and the chipset that are building up the price, and both of those are needed for running the games. Taking out the music support and the DVD movie support would be just a matter of writing new software code, which would actually mean more work, more pay for the workers, and ultimately a higher price. They could also take out the web browser, but as the web connection would still be needed for online playing it would be a similar case.
The bottom line: there is no pricey extra hardware to be taken out, so why not use the current hardware to the maximum?
I don't own a PS3 and have no immediate plans to buy one.
That being said, I also have not even fired up GT3 once since the night that GT4 was released in the US.
I also have about 600 vinyl record albums, and never ever listened to a single one since the day I bought my first CD player.
Er, now that you mention that I think you have me confused with someone else. I've never owned a Miata.Even after you bought a Miata? heh
But how often do you use your PS2 to watch movies or listen to CD's?
See, I think that is where Sony screwed up. Not everyone is looking for a multimedia do anything system. I for one have no interest in Blu-ray players, or have any interest in surfing the internet in my living room. I already have a computer that does most of that. I also have a DVD player w/ surround sound that also is a tuner and cd player.
The only thing I want my game system to do is play games. Sounds silly huh?
I bet if they cut the fat off the PS3 and kept it strictly a game system, the price would be much lower.
sory mate i cant agree with this
i use my ps2 daily to watch dvd's as its in my bedroom, and i know ill use my ps3 for the same thing after i get it for xmas, i also used my ps2 wen my cd player was broke so its great that it has these secondary uses
also i know im not the only one who understands that bluray will hold much bigger and better games so thats a huge +, opening up the options for game ideas
maybe the price is a bit high, hell ive waited till not for one, but it surely will be worth it in the long run, theres always xbox if not...
Does anyone know if a cut down version (or similar type) will be released for the PS2?, or is it just going to be a PS3 release?.
AngloAmerican
A cut-down version of GT5 for the PS2? I highly doubt it.
Err, how many people have actually put me on their ignore list?
If the PS3 comes bundled with GT5 I would probably purchase that and put it on my credit card.
I hope it comes bundled, just like how the PS2 and GT3 was offered as a bundle.
Sorry mate, but I think I've done just about all I wanted to do in GT4 so when I get GT5 it will be a whole new world to explore and won't be likeley to wanna play GT4 anymore.
Doesn't the standard Finnish driving test include a special stage through the woods in a race-prepped Escort Cosworth?Well, not me for sure! I want to meet you online, racing. I thought I was The Flying Finn!
