If it's on PS3, probably. I won't be buying a PS4 for GT6 like I did with GT5 and my PS3.

The only reason GT5 was released when it was is because EVERYONE, their dog, their cat, their rat and their dead grandmother yelling at PD to release it...and then those same people cried when they didn't get as quality a product as they were hoping for.
Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that the forthcoming PlayStation 3 racer, Gran Turismo 5, is feature complete and could be released now if the company chose to.

Linky.

You're absolutely right. How dare those people demand the game that was said to be finished and a quality title over a year before it came out to be a finished and quality title when it actually comes out. What 🤬 morons. And giving PD only 17 months to polish the game after it was otherwise "finished?" No wonder it came out in such a sorry state. Next thing you know, people will be believing PD when they say it is ready for it's planned-for-several-months-launch-date, rather than missing that too.

Don't fool yourselves, everybody who bought GT5 will buy GT6, are not you happy being beta testers for next GT game? Our hard work devoloping this game should guarantee us some kind of discount price though.

Sure! I will buy GT6...

After I see lots... lots of reviews about it... LOTS of them...

I'll check track list, car list, how online works, how good the AI is, how many cars it has, how many B-Spec races it has, how many A-Spec races it has... WHICH cars it has, engine sounds, customization options... EVERYTHING!

I won't play another PD game unless it has the quality of the old GT's... (GT4 and backwards)...

Ultimately, I blame GTP (Gran Turismo Portable) for being the reason why GT5 was a bust. That precious time caused GT5 to be just a mere shadow of what it could have been...

"All GT3 showed was you didn't need 1000 cars to have a great game. I spent a lot of time playing GT3"

This!!!! 👍

I played GT3 nonstop for a year. It has the best replay value of the entire franchise... something that GT5 lacks greatly...

That's why I have very low expectations on GT6...

I'll say this much, if they promise to release a GT6 Prologue "soon", I'm not buying into the horse manure. Doubly so if it is to be released on PS4. Not making the same mistake this time and buying the console before Prologue. At least I waited for the first PS3 price drop before purchasing one... but still, pretty hilarious on my part to get a PS3 just for GT5P. (of course, I enjoyed MGS4 and RDR as well, but they weren't the primary reason for the PS3 for me, that was GT5)

I also noticed I had a bit more fun with GT5P's online. Although the disconnects were a bit ridiculous in Prologue, it was fun in a way to just show up in a matched race, and see how well you could do. I think that's something they could have left in GT5 in addition to the public and private lobbies currently. In fact, maybe that's what the seasonal events should be?

There just seems to be less of a "spark" in activity online in GT5 in comparison to 5P. Could be just me though.

I do like the series, I like the feel of the menu system of GT games, and the "polish" that exists in general, it's just that I have been exposed to other games' features. I'm older now, too. I want to drive more than just medium-to-high powered racecars and Japanese sportscars. Don't get me wrong, those are still fun to race with, I just feel more adventurous now. I want to race online with stuff like Ferrari 250 SWBs and Jaguar D-Types on low grip tires. :) Some older, fast and unforgiving tracks like Rouen and 1960s Spa would be a plus as well. :D And a livery editor, and a non-messed up track builder, etc.

I could very easily skip past the next console generation and migrate to PC to gain access to these things. I could even race on the Targa Florio course if there's a mod for it. There's usually someone crazy enough to make these things in the PC world.

The thing is though, I really do like the rest of GT's features. I just can't have them and the badass 50's and 60's racing stuff that I like, currently. So I'm just going to wait and see what GT6 brings. 👍

[...] I was so pumped for rally in GT5. Then got 5 premium rally cars. They missed a lot. I'm ambivalent at the moment.

Same here. I really enjoyed the off-road element in previous GT's and was really disappointed by its near absence in GT5. Rally has been neglected. I'll wait for solid reviews before I consider buying GT6.

I absolutely will not be buying it until I have rented it from blockbusters first.

I was a dedicated GT series fan, until GT5. They were in fact the only games I had for my PS1 & PS2 and the reason I bought the PS3

I hardly ever put it in the PS3 now and if I do it is only to do a bit of time trialling.

The reason GT1 became so famous was actually because it was relatively hardcore. There was a certain kudos to getting all your licences and being a good racer on a digital button controller. As well of course how much performance they managed to squeeze out of the PS1. Its main flaw was the AI were pretty simplistic, but hey it was pretty good for the hardware at the time and compared to anything else on the PS1

GT5 has been aimed at the biggest audience they could, trying to make it all things to all gamers. I find it impossible to classify the thing now, it's not a racer (the AI and race formats are completely unrealistic), It's not a 'driving' sim - you can't drive anywhere except on race tracks.

The levelling system is so arcade - if the races were good you wouldn't need a levelling system to try and entice you to rinse and repeat dull, easy to win unrestricted 'races' (I am being very generous calling anything available in offline mode a race)

The much touted different race formats such as rally, nascar and karting are really only tiny bonus games.

The rest of the many distinctly odd decisions (paint system) and additions of things I simply don't care about (race suits, helmets etc..) have been mentioned ad infinatum.

I don't care how good the physics simulation is if there is no fun to be had playing the game and for me, there simply isn't.

Unfortunately though I have totally lost all faith in PDs ability to make a game I want to play anymore. I can actually see them creating this awful sounding free roam mode before they do the one thing GT has always needed (for me) - a complete redesign of the AI code.

So I will rent it, but unless some miracle happens at PD it is very very unlikely I will buy it.

Nothing lasts forever... :(

Having never played forza I can't compare the two. But IMO GT5 is a great/the best racing game. Can't wait for GT6! Probably the ONLY game or one of the FEW games I'd ever pay full price ($60) for!

No one knows anything about the game yet, other than there'll probably be some cars in it. It's really too soon to tell whether or not it'll be a good purchase.

No option for pre-release info? :banghead:

I'll wait until GT6 has more info announced than it having Bathrust, then I'll decide on buying it.

I agree with all you said, with one reservation; though I may be inclined to agree with you still, but for slightly different reasons, GTPSP is a very good game (and was originally intended to be a PSP launch title).

pre-release info is just marketing lies, it is designed to make you want to buy it. If the pre-release info for GT5 had been..

  • Same old AI, slightly tweaked!
  • Limited Career mode with no competition, unless you hobble your own cars!
  • Seasonal chase the pigeon races designed like no race series in the world, purely as a way of providing you with money!
  • Racing so bad we had to put in a leveling system to make you want to play it!
  • Insane disorganised paint chip system so you can almost customise your cars!
etc... etc...

I wouldn't have pre-ordered it :sly:

yawn. If you are not thinking of buying GT6 then you were never interested in Gran turismo in the first place.

But i would say good thing in either case. Play something else and leave Gran turismo to others

"If you don't buy any and every single iteration of a product blindly, despite its quality, you were never a fan."

More shining examples of logic, I see.

Wow, I hope situations that require logic or rational thinking never frequent your life.

Actually I challenge you to explain to all of us how that works. Since you wont try though, why troll on this forum all the time with you fanatic love of all that is GT/PD?

I think sales may have been lower if that were the case, yeah.

And to be fair, as people have brought up sales for whether or not GT5 is good/great since day 1, the GT6's early sales will probably tell a greater story than GT5 sales ever could.
Though I do think once again enough time will have passed the majority will assume PD has fixed most issues and buy it anyway though. I know that's what I did between GT4-5P-5.

Maybe they will, I hope they do.:indiff:

Because he's been allowed to, at least to an extent. I've yet to see a post from him that was any less dramatic than "GT5 is the best in every way that counts".

It's good to see that many GTP members are shifting their thoughts; they're now much more independent and "thoughtful".

The "best fans" of any product are fans that have a brain and can question things. Let our voices be heard. Let's make some change in the GT series!

The "worst fans" of any product are fans that see nothing out of the ordinary and over-praise. When nothing's wrong or nothing is criticized, you are just a helpless bystander.

I still hate to use the word "fan".

Never cease to amaze me. Brilliant job.

Best and most dedicated post I have seen in a while.

Hey Vandaliser when (or if ever I should say) you go to a steak house do you expect your food to be cooked or half raw still? And if it were to come out somewhat raw do you tell yourself, if I don't like it I shouldn't come here to eat.

Since it obviously doesn't make sense to question the restaurant that served you the uncooked meal.

Based on my GT5 experience over the last year and a half, I don't think I am going to be buying GT6. Once GT6 is released, if the consensus is that it is miles ahead of GT5 (and better than competing titles released at around the same time), then I would rent it and give it a test drive before giving any real consideration to buying it.

I have played and enjoyed the GT franchise since I managed to save enough money to buy a Playstation in 1998, but I fear that the fierce loyalty of GT players has led the developers to become complacent and allow their competitors to leave them behind in many noticeable ways. Going out and buying GT6 just because it's the latest Gran Turismo game -- which is how it seems to be for some members of GTPlanet -- is something that, in my opinion, will reinforce the slow/incomplete development pattern that has frustrated many of us. Moving on to other titles that may deliver more of what we're looking for doesn't mean we're rejecting or trying to cheapen all of the great times and great things that Gran Turismo has given us over the years; it's just the result of changing times and changing competition.

I love this. All of it, really, but the red hit the nail on the head. HARD.

For the longest time I'd buy GT because it was fun and I only owned Sony consoles. But more often than not, it was the name that sold me! Gran Turismo. I got to buy it!

But it's not the case anymore. I am going to look at GT6 as if it were the first entry of a brand new racing series called Gran Turismo. And that's it. No more blindly buying titles. It's time to think and analyze the entire package.
