Why do people like loud music while driving?

You can't turn your music down when one hand has a cheeseburger in it and the other has a cellphone. If you actually expect people to be respectful, you must be taking crazy pills.
Most people don't drive with loud music that makes you go def or annoyed. Some people on the other hand put way over the limit on sound.

Do you live in South Africa? You cannot dismiss and ignore it until you go to a taxi rank in one of the country's major cities. Where I live (Cape Town) I get woken up by a taxi creating fractures in the walls of the houses via soundwaves by driving down my street almost every morning.

Perhaps people like to feel like they are in a movie or something.

At least over here, it's not accepted to go around walking while playing music. But as in everywhere else, it is accepted to play music while drivers.

So drivers just play loud music.

I paid well over $1000 for my sound system and I shall use it as I please. But to be fair, I do turn it down at stoplights and intersections.
Same here, I like playing louder music on long journeys on a quiet autobahn. It never bothers anyone.

I have also over 1k spent to my sound system and i like to play it loud while driving on big roads.
Though in neighbourhood and urban area, i turn the volume down..

Metal can only be played loud. At full volume. Everywhere. Backroads somewhere? Loud. Neighborhoods? Loud.

I enjoy the attention  The looks on peoples faces when you roll up with this blasting out the windows is priceless.

That said, I don't do that all the time  Only when I feel aggressive or have an itch to. Most of the time it's loud enough to be comfortable for me and that's it.

When I listen to Music loud-ish, I make sure to atleast close the window 90% all the way, most Dance and electro songs need to be played loud-ish to be enjoyed in my opinion.

Many people believe, falsely, that others will enjoy a song if they only heard it. The reality is that many people do not enjoy the types of music which are typically played loud. Hence, there is a specific personality which enjoys music loudly and this personality plays itself out on the roadway through a general lack of courtesy for other drivers. That specific type of person enjoys attention for a variety of reasons.

It reminds me of a young man who was recently shot for refusing to turn down his music while at a fuel station. A man armed with a pistol shot him over the dispute.

It's a good opportunity to listen to music, loud. Assuming you understand that some people enjoy music when it's played louder, it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to see that in a contained personal environment it's an ideal opportunity to dial up the sound pressure levels :D

I spent thousands of pounds on my home Hifi over the years, but the fact is, it rarely gets turned up much above the volume of normally conversation. I live in a semi-detached house, the walls aren't exactly thick, and I am considerate of my neighbour. In a car, the chance of you subjecting you music to others for much more than 30 seconds is pretty low (it does happen obviously).

Personally, I do like to crank it up. I didn't spend much on my ICE at all... in fact it's the standard 10 speaker Harmon Kardon BMW business unit. But whether I'm listening to the Live in Gdansk version of Comfortably Numb at 11, or shaking my eyeballs out with something like Vapor Trail or Busy Child from the Crystal Method I enjoy it....

... the caveat is that I never do it with the windows down. That's where I draw the line, if the windows are down, the volume is down.

I don't want to hear your stupid song while stuck in traffic, so why do people think that loud music that you can hear from outside is okay?

Because Gangsta.

That's why I'm always armed. Personally, I could give two craps if you or anyone else dislikes my music. I'll play it as loud as I please.

In fact, if I am playing it that loud, it's because I WANT you to hear it.

Over music? I like my music but I'm not going to start a reckless, arrogant gun-battle over it.
@Kent One of the best comedies from the 90's in my opinion!
@Slash Self-defense? Absolutely within your right--given the other guy shows hostile intent/action. When you do not have the element of surprise, you may find yourself lying in a coffin. It's very difficult to fire a weapon[accurately] from a vehicle even while stationary. However, I'm not here to judge your 2nd amendment rights. :gtpflag:

Well no obviously I wouldn't start a gun fight but if some other dummy started it I could at least have some way to protect myself lol.

I prefer not to hear music while driving. I rarely turn my radio on when I'm driving all by myself, but I'll let a passenger turn it on if he or she wishes.

Most of the time, I don't mind people in other cars blasting their music loudly. Although I dislike it, I can still stand it. However, when I'm not in the best of moods, I can get really irked. Especially if the music blasted seems to be about farting, taking a dump, or something along the lines of that. It somehow makes me want to burn down a building or something like that. Probably something to do with a mental disorder in my head.

But, seriously...when you are extremely mad, what is your reaction gonna be when you hear:

My ass is very big.
Ass is very big.
Ass is very big.
My ass is very big.
Ass is very big.

Stupid ***** you don't **** when you sleep!

Spoken in a deep, blatant, yet monotonic tone, in juxtaposition with beats that consist of three notes which consistently repeat themselves every two seconds?

Depends on the song. In my car, the well mixed songs are on 30, with the poorly/loudly mixed and rap usually being 25. I like loud music, as that's how I feel music should be listened to, especially if your jam just so happens to come up in the car.

I sometimes like to play my music loud also whilst cruising around, yet i've grown past the typical stage in the life of a young man when he thinks bumping his tunes loud and opening the window will attract countless females...

Now i'm too old of make an 🤬 of myself, so i enjoy good music in my car whilst keeping those windows closed.
