Why does no one like Justin Bieber

@Driving Park: When you say modern music do you mean like all of todays newest music? Because Crash Karma is a pretty good band... I literally scour through new music to find good stuff (Its why I don't have a girlfriemd ), point being is that the good music is out there. Lets face it, the odds of making it in the music industry aren't too great, so in that respect Bieber has earned praise. As long as it sells, he'll be hated by many. Until the next fad comes along. However, what you consider good is based on personal preference, one country's trash is another country's craze (For example back in the day, Hassellhoff in Germany. Anyone?). Regards, VANDENAL.

Try looking outside the top 40 stations...

This.

YouTube, Last.fm, Pandora, Rhapsody, Napster, SiriusXM, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, MOG, Rdio, MySpace, Facebook etc... I can go on forever. They all offer free/cheap ways of streaming and buying music and offer countless suggestions on new things to listen to.

For me I use a combination of YouTube, Last.fm, and Spotify and sometimes Facebook when a band suggests a similar band. Anytime I feel like discovering a new band that likely will turn into awesome, I can use these services and poop out like 20 suggestions of stuff I have never heard in the matter of a second.

Now back to Justin Bieber... Today's pop is the same as 90's, same as 80's same as 70's. Same. Bieber is exactly the same in every way that Michael Jackson was except maybe isn't quite as good as a dancer, but dancing is boring to watch.

As for the high pitch argument. If you can call it that... I guess you don't like pretty much every Heavy Metal band or Prog Rock band before 1990, or any hard rock before 1990. Some much higher pitched. His voice can and will mature.

Exactly what Prosthetic said. I like some of Michael Jackson's music, and I don't like Bieber's. I'm not going to pretend that I have some rational reasoning behind that, it's just because.

Again, I don't get why people go out of their way to hate Bieber. Serious waste of time.

I think it's mostly because of the girly voice combined with the less-than-pleasing aroma given off when little kids are turned into jaded mega-stars seemingly overnight. Can you say false sense of entitlement? 💡

But in this world everyone seems to have their 15 minutes of fame and then disappears... I can only hope he's almost done in the limelight! I can't stand that whole genre of music...

Agree to him.

Bieber is a legend. The haters just don't want to admit they're jealous of his lifestyle.

I've nothing against the guy himself, it's his massive army of scarily obsessive fans that I'm not so keen on. As a twitter user you wouldn't believe how many thousands of people somehow manage to incorporate the world "Bieber" or "Biebs" or "Belieber" or some combination thereof into their usernames. When you're so obsessed with someone that you have to take their identity to represent your own (or retweet their every tweet, as happens frequently, or repeat his name several times to get it trending etc) then you're probably too much into something.
Uh-huh.

I don't know about that. Maybe you're just not a fan of pop.

There's still fantastic pop coming out today. Recently Taylor Swift has some excellent contributions to the field, as does Katy Perry. I don't know if Adele counts as Pop, but I think she belongs in the discussion. But if you're going to compare musicians who have made lasting impressions to the pop genre as well as crossing into many other genres like Michael Jackson (awful person), U2 (Bono is an awful person too), or Madonna, to someone like Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, who are on track to be forgotten forever in very short order, then you're very mistaken.

In the short term, it's easy to be confused by hype and forget the quality of the music. But it's the music that differentiates legends from silly fads.

Edit:

One more comment, this thread belongs in the Music section.

Clicking reply on your post actually made me feel gross. Like I need to wash my hands, keyboard, and mouse.

You're right! I never thought of it that way, but you're absolutely right. I would be just as quick to hate on U2 and Madonna if they were rich and famous and had cars. You got me!
