Older people dislike him because younger people like him. His music is obviously aimed at the younger audiences. He is a good singer but his music is not going to be enjoyed by everyone, especially not the teenage to early 20s group that are likely to be surrounding this whole "beiber hate" thing.
Saying he is a bad song writer is silly, because firstly he isnt writing the music and secondly he is making a lot of money out of the song writing. The song writing is obviously good for its intended audience and is succesful as a result.
Many more have come and gone before him often to the same result, there are always musicians who people think its cool to hate. Slipknot were one of the cool to hate metal bands, Britney Spears was cool to hate, Rebecca Black is cool to hate on. Or atleast to the mostly mid teen-early twenties crowd that created the trends. It is often artists who are quick to fame, those who gather a high ammount of younger fans or those with a type of gimmic involved with their act, perhaps a combination of the three in some cases.

Most people in this thread that are hating on Bieber are in their early teens. His 'targeted' audience.
Do any research before writing this? Bieber is part of the writing process. As far as I'm aware its not like Rebecca Black where her parents payed Ark to write her a song and direct a video. Bieber works with other musicians that are 'featured' in his songs.
Nonetheless I pretty much agree with the point you are trying to make. Only one thing, Slipknot aren't metal.

I don't hate Justin Bieber. That kid has done no harm to anyone, and not to me specifically.

No, he's not, he could sing okay-ish for his age, but he's a terrible singer now. Saw him in a big German show once ("Wetten dass...??") and the auto-tune wasn't turned up high enough, horrible. He was acting (I hope he was acting...) pretty dumb too.
I hate Justin Bieber (not him personally, but as a "brand") because:
- "His" music is bad (bad in stupid lyrics, made without much need of knowledge about music and tons of faking like auto-tune).
- Other bands which make good music can't get the same, or similar attention.
- Kids buy it, not because it's their taste, but because they are told it is through different media.
- Because figures like him kill the actual importance of music, since everyone can be a famous "musician" if he has the right face and someone like Usher behind him/her.
- Because "he"'s just there to make money, not as an actual artist.
People are getting formed and pressed through things like Justin Bieber, so companies can sell products to them. Where is the art? Where is the sophistication? I know it's just a Cartoon, but just watch the Jonas Brothers episode from South Park, it explains the whole stuff pretty well.

I'd have to disagree, I think there was a time when mainstream music was very good. A lot of classic rock comes to mind, as does big band jazz which was mainstream in the '40s and '50s. But that's for another thread.

I think most bands that fall into the 'classic rock' genre (retarded and pointless genre, I call rock) I find rather boring. But that's just me. Let me rephrase it. Mainstream music from 1970+ has sucked. Some of it has been good/ok but most of it IMO blows.
As for VANDENAL, I dungoofed. I meant for that to be at Camaroyenko. I will go back and edit.

I think we all have to accept that our musical tastes are a generation older, and we are getting stubborn about what's good music and what's garbage.
I won't be surprised if my kids say the music I listened to when I was young was terrible, and I would say the opposite.

I think it's mostly because of the girly voice combined with the less-than-pleasing aroma given off when little kids are turned into jaded mega-stars seemingly overnight. Can you say false sense of entitlement? 💡
But in this world everyone seems to have their 15 minutes of fame and then disappears... I can only hope he's almost done in the limelight! I can't stand that whole genre of music...

The problem is, I'm 17...the same age as Justin Bieber. Part of the generation that is eating this stuff up. So I will freely listen to modern music that I like. But there isn't any.
Interesting you say that, because I enjoy the music my dad listened to as a kid.
