Why people hate 4WD drifter?

It's a point that in real D1 you dont use slicks. but my driving style which is speed instead of angle asks for slick high speed drifting it's my style, i dont hate other people for not using slicks?

To the post above me......

The problem is even in none D1 people kick me for using slicks.

So you are saying you pretty much don't care about angle. Here's a test, ask people what do they prefer, going as sideways as they can while keeping control or just going fast with almost no angle? Visualize it in your mind what looks better. Plus "drifting" with slicks is not fun, you don't have to countersteer, where's the challenge in that. One of the purposes of drifting is getting as sideways as you can while keeping control of the car & keeping the line.

And to all the 4WD powersliders, keep thinking you are "drifting". Just stop trying to prove 4WD is drifting. It's not.

May I just proof that you don't need 4WD for the sickest drift angles?!

I love that first video.... when first saw it had a headache from the commentators.

Damn nice entry lukas

Maveric, a properly setup 4wd car can drift.

Here the definition. Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motorsport where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while maintaining vehicle control and a high exit speed

In real life drifting competitions if you have little or no counter steer angle you will get zero points, it's called under steer in drifting. This is pretty much unavoidable with a 4WD in real life and is part of the reason they are not allowed.

I know this. I dont 4wd to begin with. I was just stating in this game you can properly drift a 4wd if it is set up right.

At this point this thread is just an ongoing argument. This thread needs to be locked

Hi, I play Gt5 since almost one week and begins to drift a couple days ago. I have to admit that there is a real problem in this comunity. I come from forza, and I am a good forza drifter, most people drift rwd in forza, some drift awd, but nobody care about that, why in gt5 people HATE, they dont only dont like, they HATE 4wd drifter, why??? Is it easier?? I know its not really real life to drift awd car, but why people are so upset about that???

its the speed difference bro, thats it. Most wont admit it but thats it in a nutshell.. Just go and drift in the japanese rooms, they don't mind 4wd and they have some epic drifters to learn from too.

4wd's tend to lose traction in the front wheels.

I do counter steer alot and i actually get a lot of angle, it's just not what is important to me. here is my set up... racing hard front sport medium back. that way i have traction on the front and a little less on the back. either way i know barely anyone likes my style... oh and i keep a line, and i am fast at the same time. either way thats why i don't like D1 is because i drift for fun not to impress other people.

We don't close threads because you don't like the topic of discussion. We close threads if you abuse other members.

Of course, the abuse (as always) seems mostly directed at the threadstarter and AWD drifters, so I'd like to warn people that if this goes on, infractions will be handed out on both sides.

The reason why they get ridiculous angle and are easy to drift is because there 4wd and are impossible to spin out. Those are signs of someone who can't drift. We don't use rwd cause it gets more angle. We do it cause it ACTUALLY takes some skill.

It takes skill to drive/drift any car at the limit. The limit and traits are inherent to the drivetrain, but that dousn't necessary mean its good or bad. Just different.

"Impossible" to spin out, I'll give you that. You're more likely to come to a dead stop or end up off track. It's not like you can't fail when using AWD, not when exploring the limits.

I know you quoted someone else, but look at the bolded parts.

With AWD you can:
- Get more angle
- Keep control
- Drift the same or similar line
- (extra bonus!) Get more speed

Isn't that just awesome?

I'm sure all the OP's questions were answered. No need to drag this on any longer. Both sides will never agree. Just my opinion.

Drifting a 4WD= Riding a bicycle with training wheels, you're doing it somewhat right and learning but always get laughed at.
Drift a RWD=Riding a bicycle without training wheels, you're doing it perfect and every ones your friend, whether you fall or not.

i dont see why people hate AWD drifters, cause i see more noobs with FR's that i see people with AWD, most people i run into with AWD are awesome. i just think most FR's are trash, like the people driving them. just facts here.

Epic troll is trolling?

No, seriously, the reason you see "noobs" in FR cars, is that FR is harder than AWD. i personally use FR for the most, but if i use a 4wd car, it is a 10-90 torcue diff. and all slip diff front and locked rear, so minimus help from front wheels. FR cars can often have more angle, but with my setup, i can get more angle, and go as slow as rwd cars with my lancer evo 6 as a lot of people i have seen online.

I dont care if people use 4WD of FR or RR or MR, you name it. as long as they dont ram into me, im cool, hell, you could fly around in a little Honda Civic, i would care more than have a damn laugh if you could make it look cool.

WHY? That is the question!

I personnally drift with rwd cars only, but if drift would be in an opposite situation, awd would be the prefered way of everybody (which is not going to happens), I would not care about that, because it's the way I chose. Just tell me why people are so ''racist'' to awd drifter??

Because to RWD drifters, drifting with four wheel drive is technically cheating. It allows you to get more angle without spinning out if you have 10-90 for drivetrain setup.

Thats a great reverse entry, but you can't beat AWD with RWD in the angle department.

I'm with the people that don't understand why people "dislike or hate" 4WD Drifters.... In my opinion, it is harder to set up a 4WD car to drift than it is to set up a RWD car. I personally love to drift my Nissan Stagea 260RS which is 4WD, and it took me a long time to go from a FD RX-7 to the Stagea and to set it up right wasn't easy. With the extra weight in the car you have to control, it makes the car harder to toss around like a light nimble RX-7 Or Silvia. I would love to personally start up a 4WD drift team. BUT everyone should just get along, no matter if you drive a 4WD or a RWD, everyone should just be give props to the people that are getting out there and giving it a fang....

The way you say that, looks like AWD are superior than RWD in every ways, thats why the RWD technicaly would say its cheating. For these guys, i´d send a AWD user to Cape´s "ring" in any 4x4 with less than 400hp and say "show your awsomeness now".

I realized the same thing, but i stayed quiet. Anyways, to prove a sucessfull entry, he would need to record it or at least bring 5 or 6 pictures in sequence. Or else i also can prove in one picture how is possible to do a 2-wheels-after-barrel-roll-reverse-entry.
