Yoshi's Woolly World sports the kind of creativity in game design that Mario platformers have been criticized for lacking.

Yoshi's Woolly World is one of the only Wii U games I'm interested in, I can't wait to sink my teeth into it.

According to Nintendo Enthusiast, Nintendo has partnered up with indie devs to offer free demos of indie games that are playable at E3. If you download them, you'll earn a 15% discount on the game when it launches. I was already keeping an eye on Freedom Planet and RIVE, so this is pretty cool. :)
  • Extreme Exorcism from Ripstone
  • forma.8 from Mixed Bag
  • Freedom Planet from GalaxyTrail
  • Lovely Planet from tinybuild and QUICKTEQUILA
  • Mutant Mudds Super Challenge from Renegade Kid
  • RIVE from Two Tribes
  • Runbow from 13AM Games
  • Soul Axiom from Wales Interactive
  • Typoman from Headup Games and Brainseed Factory
Also, guess what: Shin'en delivers! (@Classic) :)

Runbow and Freedom Planet for me! :D

That trailer is absolutely glorious. Hope the physics are good.

I quickly played almost all of the demos. Most didn't really appeal to me, and a couple I never tried. (Not into the exorcism/demon stuff, so I'm not going to give it a go). Forma.8 immediately hooked me though.
I'm on my phone, so when I get to a proper screen I NEED to watch that fast racing neo clip!!

My impressions of the demos I've played: Typoman is an interesting concept, but the gameplay is kinda stiff. If there's some flexibility in puzzle-solving, as was implied by one of the puzzles, it could be worth checking out. I have nothing good to say about Soul Axiom. :indiff: Lovely Planet has potential, with catchy music and a charming aesthetic, but it needs a lot of work. Forma.8 is sorta like a flat-shaded Affordable Space Adventures, but with bombs -- my only complaint is that flying is rather sluggish.

RIVE is pretty good, if a little on-rails-ish for a platformer. Or maybe it's really just a shmup with a jump button? It's certainly got character, and seemingly more depth than any other shmup I've noticed on the eShop. I hope the final product has volume sliders for the music and sound effects.

Freedom Planet...Sega should be ashamed of themselves for not being responsible for this. It almost doesn't deserve to be compared to Sonic games, although it apparently began life as a fangame. I'm really looking forward to this now. 👍

3 hours to go! A lot of questions are going to be answered :confused::confused::D. Sony's conference was interesting last night. Shenmue III received $1.4 million last night for their kickstarter . MS actually did pretty good with their conference. Sony seems a little more imaginative in their games, but MS seemed to have more features incoming (360 compatibility...one of those things that is usually a lot more awesome in theory than in practice, but still pretty cool). Anyway, both did well but I found about 75% of MS games I am not very interested in, and probably half of Sony's games. On the othere hand, I'll probably be interested in about 75% of Nintendo's games. Can't wait!!

Starfox looks pretty good, and Mario tennis. But that's it for me. If I liked handhelds I'd be more excited. Of course Mario maker and Yoshi look awesome. Mario Tennis was really the only pleasant surprise for me

The Metroid-inspired 3DS game was a tease I could have done without, but I was in it for only one thing and I got it -- a release date for XCX. :) Too bad it's still nearly six months out... :(

Star Fox Zero looks pretty great; I'm happy it has gone back to the series' roots, and for that reason, it's the first game to capture my interest since SF64.
Freedom Planet is fantastic, those physics are spot on.
That's exactly it. GalaxyTrail understands what made the original Sonic trilogy great.

It's also being developed by Platinum so I'm even more hype for Starfox now!

Was just watching treehouse live and they were playing Super Mario Maker. Looks a LOT better than I thought. Animal Crossing was a letdown.

Just finished the Treehouse marathon myself, after seeing some more of the games in action I have came to the conclusion that Ninty's E3 just came across as a regular direct than 'E3' and they did warn us that they didn't have any tricks up their sleeve. I have no right to complain though, a week today I had no intentions of buying Runbow, Freedom Planet, Super Mario Maker, Animal Crossing Happy Home Creator or Metroid PIF....Treehouse did its just well. 2015 is still stacked for the Wii U exclusives wise: Yoshi Wooly World, Fast Racing Neo, Runbow, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, StarFox, Fatal Frame, Devil's Third and maybe one or 2 I'm forgetting.

Nintendo's E3 conference was a huge letdown for me. The new Starfox looks like it could be great, Yoshi's Woolly World looks as fantastic as ever and the 3DS Mario game looks interesting as well but other than that nothing interested me in the slightest. The new Metroid game is rage inducing, I can't think of anyone who would want that over a proper 2D or 3D Metroid game.

They definitely low-balled it this year. Poor conference full of already known information with some insane IP taunting for fans of Animal Crossing and Metroid. At least Starfox is actually a true sequel to 64 by the looks of it.

If there's a silver lining to Metroid Prime Federation Force, it could be this quote from last year:
Shinya Takahashi
...So at this point we have two different types of Metroid games. We have the Prime style of Metroid game and we have the more traditional style of Metroid game. We feel that we do need to take care of both of these styles of play.
The predictable outcome would be a Prime-style game on Wii U and a sidescrolling game on 3DS, right? But now we have a Prime-style game on 3DS...and Retro Studios -- said to be working on a secret Wii U project -- has spent the last few years crafting sidescrollers with the DKC games.

Could Retro actually be making an HD sidescrolling Metroid game? That would be fantastic. And suitably "retro" (:sly:) for Samus' 30th birthday next year.

Nintendo skipped Samus' 25th, so who knows? It was a bit shameful how they played a clip of Captain Falcon to reveal the SSB4 round in the NWC.

A heads-up for you guys -- FAST Racing Neo and Xenoblade Chronicles X are scheduled for Treehouse Live today. :D

That is pretty cool. Three days ago we didn't even have footage for this game. Now we get to see it being played! On Monday Shin'en said by end of year. Good to have something to look forward to and get excited about!

Fast Racing Neo could be amazing although I'm not a fan of the first game's physics.
