The VergeNintendo will hold an all-day event in New York City next month to reveal more about its next generation video game console, Wii U. On Thursday, September 13th, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will host a press briefing to reveal "more about how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment," according to an invitation sent to Polygon.
Sources close to Nintendo tell Polygon that a Wii U launch date and price are likely to be announced at the event. Hands-on game play with Wii U software is promised.
Nintendo held a similar event in New York in January 2011 where Fils-Aime announced the launch date and price of the Nintendo 3DS.

Coming soon WII U.
I have issues.
Definately only choosing one in the next gen though. Xbox or PS4.
This is getting out of hand.
I also ask about Game Freak's interest in Nintendo's other new hardware, the Wii U, with a personal plea for the team to do a new version of Pokemon Snap making use of the Wii U Gamepad. Masuda doesn't seem interested in my wish.
"Photography wasn't as widely spread in those days," he says. "Now everyone has a camera and can take photos whenever they want. Releasing it in that same form wouldn't be as interesting these days. Maybe there's a new idea, though."
I dont think thats Dumb at all TBH.
What would be dumb is having a second controller gather dust because no games utilise it.
Now that's dumb.
Sanji HimuraNo, it's dumb because there is no price point for the controller, rumored to be $153, so those with tight wallets can't save up for it.
Reggie could have announced both the price point now, and the release date in Spring 2013. Fans would be mad, sure, but some information is better than none at all.
