Kojima Productions: We Aren't Thinking About Metal Gear Rising On Wii U

Nintendo Life
Producer Yuji Korekado has told Eurogamer that although a PC port could see the light of day, Nintendo's system isn't on the radar at present:

"We aren't currently thinking about that. One of the strongest appeals of the Wii U is the GamePad. However, we've constructed Metal Gear Rising so you can fully enjoy the game on the controllers whether it's on the PS3 or the Xbox. So, currently we aren't thinking about Metal Gear Rising on the Wii U."

Given that the Wii U GamePad has two analogue sticks and the same number of buttons as the PS3 and Xbox joypads, we can't help but feel that's a rather weak reason to deny the system its own version, but there you have it.

Nintendo TVii app launches on Wii U in US and Canada on December 20

Engadget
Nintendo of America announced this morning that its delayed Nintendo TVii service for the Wii U will launch on December 20. Nintendo TVii, first introduced back in September, intends to tie all of your currently balkanized media services on the Wii U -- various streaming services, your cable box, and your DVR -- into a single, cross-searchable application. At launch, the service will tie in Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video, but Netflix and TiVo are skipping the party until some time in "early 2013."

Nintendo TVii was given a December 8th launch date in Nintendo's home country of Japan, lining up with the launch of the company's new console; the TVii service notoriously missed the launch of the console everywhere else in the world, remaining absent ever after its various support services were added (Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant, etc.) as individual apps. Like those apps, Nintendo TVii wasn't built by Nintendo itself, but in a partnership with i.TV. It's unclear what lead to the delay of the TVii service, but we're glad to see it arrive ahead of the various big present-giving days.

Now I know that the Miiverse is heavely moderated by Nintendo and that I can understand, but this does seem to be taking things a bit far:

Wow. Complete and utter nonsense. So glad I'm not interested in the Wii U. The normal Wii just might be the last Nintendo system I get if they keep this garbage up. Not going to pay a company that puts up ridiculous restrictions like this on their products.
True, but I'm not supporting this kind of thing, regardless if it's happening where I live or not. No telling if they'll decide to spread this restriction to other areas. Hopefully, Nintendo will notice the backlash and drop it before they decide that people can't play their Wii U's past midnight.

They have to have it that way, because Nintendo's European operations are based in Germany. And if you already have the games on your console, than they work fine regardless of the time of day.

So there's no way to make this apply to only German Wii U owners, instead of making the whole continent of Europe suffer because of one country's law?

Unless Nintendo packs up and moves to a different country, no. Which they may plan on doing, but who knows.

But it's no different from any other law like this. If GTP servers are based in the US, then they have to comply with US laws regardless of where the userbase is. I frequent an image board that has its servers based in the UK, so it has to comply with laws for that country. Same thing.

It's only the eShop...

I don't see what the fuss is about, seriously.

Tell that to the numerous upset people making the comments in the article Scaff posted.

It's obvious why this is a silly decision, so I'm not going to to bother explaining further.

To be honest, I rearely read comments posted under articles because they are rarely more than just low-grade grunts from the permanently dissatisfied.

I can see what you mean now though, (having read those) I wasn't aware that this kicks in despite your registration details proving you to be old enough - not that there is a true validation system in place when creating an account.

As it is effective in the EU only, I can only hope that it is a test to see how the idea goes. The console is a fine piece of kit and the one game I have played so far, Zombie U is a very good, atmospheric, well thought out and challenging game.

That looks like fun.

I also hear that Bayonetta 2 is coming to the Wii U - other than that there is very little info available as yet though.

Yes i can't wait to play those amazing games Nintendo announced at the Nintendo Direct. Nintendo failed the last two E3, but this time they delivered. Loking forward to E3, because Mario, SSB and Mario kart will be shown at E3 2013.

Looks like Nintendo's president may step down if they dont reach certain profit goals

Im guessing it was his call to put more technology in the Wii U's controller then the console itself. After the great success of the original Wii I had hoped profits from said console would make for a "proper" console from Nintendo this gen. And what do we get? A $350 64GB system that has specs so embarassing they still havent been officially released?

The console is not powerful. It is not cheap, in fact its overpriced. So theres no reason for me to get it and there wont be for sometime.

Its really a shame Nintendo will probably become an exclusive software developer sooner rather then later. At least some suits will go down with the Wii U

Do you ever review what you've written before posting it? Serious question.

"More technology in the controller than the console itself" That alone is already such a semantically null statement the rest of your post just teeters on mindless ramblings.

"That has specs so embarrassing they still haven't been officially released." Absolutely false. They'll release a bit of specs and that's it, everything will (and already has been) be revealed by technology websites.

What do you know? On Nintendo's official US website, no less

Wii U Deluxe ZombiU bundle coming to North America

Joystiq
Nintendo will release a new Wii U bundle in the U.S. and Canada that is an unbelievable value for fans. The Wii U ZombiU Deluxe Set comes with all the contents of the standard Wii U Deluxe Set, plus the addition of the ZombiU game, a black Wii U Pro Controller and a collectible booklet featuring artwork from the game and never-before-seen developer commentary. Nintendo Land will also be included as a downloadable game, rather than a packed-in disc. The jam-packed ZombiU Deluxe Set will be available at a suggested retail price of $389.99, a savings of $70 if all items were purchased separately.

That controller looks like a rip-off Xbox controller with a stick moved. Terrible ergonomics I think. At least for me. I can't stand having sticks up that high.

Many are unhappy about the decisions regarding RL.
I'm not, means I get to play it.

Why? Isn't that area where your thumb naturally rests with any controller?

I have the controller and it's perfectly ergonomic - I hardly notice any difference from the DS3...except for the face buttons having different names and the X being uppermost instead of lowest.

It really is a good controller.

Michel Ancel, Creator Of Rayman, Could Leave Ubisoft

Game Focus
Michel Ancel recently protested Ubisoft’s decision to delay his latest project, Rayman Legends. According to sources in the french media, many developers from the Ubi Montpellier studio could follow his move after Legends gets released. Gamekult reports that this imminent departure is not the result of Rayman’s delay, but more of a cause. Differences in philosophy between Ubisoft and Nintendo in regards to the promotion and distribution of Rayman Legends are also cited as a probable cause of the game’s move from Wii U exclusive to multiplatform status. This could potentially be bad news for projects such as Beyond Good And Evil 2, if the rumor does turn out to be true.

Masahiro Sakurai's right arm hindering work on the new Smash Bros.

Polygon
In addition to lamenting that the current pain is preventing him from playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Sakurai noted that, until his right arm gets better, he's forced to gnarl his left hand around a game controller in order to do any sort of playtesting work on the current version of Smash Bros. "I've had to control two characters at once in a lot of game projects up to now," he said, "so as long as I keep it to simple moves, this works well enough. It doesn't go that easy with the Nintendo 3DS version, though, and the debug camera is pretty hard to control. Still, now I realize how important it is to have your health. I'm glad I'm still in good enough shape to work."

Working through pain &/or sickness can be very rough along with the usual everyday workload. I hope for his recovery. I applaud his commitment. 👍

RUMOR: Activision unhappy with Black Ops II Wii U Sales, Says Nintendo Fans Are All Talk

Gengame
The unnamed Activision employee painted a pretty bleak picture of the company’s opinion of Nintendo fans.

"Activision didn’t expect much from Wii U sales of Black Ops 2, but they sure didn’t expect it to be that abysmal. Activision gave Wii U owners the best version of Blops 2 with Off TV features, and Nintendo fans didn’t support it. It’s easy for Nintendo fans to trash publishers for not giving them ports, but publishers have wisened up. They realize Nintendo fans are all talk. Nintendo fans are vocal with their mouths, but when it’s time to open their wallets, they’ll spend that $60 on New Super Mario Bros instead. There’s just no enthusiasm for it. The only reason publishers are still going to bring games to Wii U is because they don’t want to damage their relationship with Nintendo".
