Will GT7 with PS5 Pro and PSVR2 have significantly better video quality?

Will the PSVR2 video quality get a significant increase on GT7 when i get the new PS5 pro? I read the forums but there are too much contradicting statements.

I'm about to get the ps5 pro if it will make the PSVR2 experience much better and smoother.

I though much of the processing was done on the psvr2 so I'm not sure if we need to wait for psvr3 to get a quality upgrade.

Will PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) automatically work and make things better, or will Polyphony need to release a new patch to adjust? Or will it be like before, half baked? Any comments welcome.

We don't really know. Not much has been said about it.

The PSVR2 is mainly just a display device. It doesn't do the processing itself. So in theory it should be able to benefit a lot from the Pro. That won't make it a higher resolution screen or have better tracking though.

PSSR will need to be implemented by the developer on a per-game basis though.

Nobody knows. I went from preorder, to wait and see, as i’ve only used the ps5, for psvr2, for gt7, over the past year.

Fortunately, we have a few folks who have preordered, so we should find out pretty quickly after release.

Ps: what is wrong with the people at sony. Im looking at vr ad’s where meta user can watch a nba game in vr. If Sony did something like that with f1 or the NHL i’d have a few playstations and headsets lying around by now. They made a good product, then went full ostrich. Makes no sense.

…if sony treats psvr2 like a high wnd camera they will ignore all of the issues for a year or two, then release a new one with the fix’s…🤦‍♂️

My main concern are the lenses in PSVR2. (I do have one myself) The Fresnel lenses have quite a lot of distortion and such a small sweet spot, that it kind of cancels any gains in resolution or picture quality in general. FPS is the only gain, and I think that is just fine with regular PS5. Pancake lenses would be a lot better, but I guess it would be even more expensive. I wish we had a way to change the lenses..

It's a real shame they don't have smart display panels with electromagnetically induced transparency that can be installed in helmets and flip down the display quickly and easily, like IRL internal visors. It would be great for both AR use IRL with GPS/telemetry as well as VR in gaming.

Plus decoupling the head securing aspects from the display would be great. Most of these headset makers act like women with ponytails (or non-women) don't exist. like it's only for bald/short hair models. And being able to quickly swap the flip down display from a full face, modular, open face, or astronaut/bot would be great! With a good internal or external fan cooling system, it's the ultimate in immersion and comfort. Then think of the great haptics with massive shakers in the helmet for when folks go on a ramming spree, get proper penalties, and get extra haptic rewards to end up with their own head trauma, woohoo!

I still can't believe how many unsafe racers out there with no helmets are playing.

My hope is that any textures outside the car will be higher quality, the cockpit always seem to be at the fidelity that PSVR2 is capable of but anything outside the car including track surface/track environment looks more like a ps2 than ps5, draw distance for certain objects is poor too. Someone has the technical specs I’m sure but that’s the biggest failing psvr2 currently has in my eyes that it doesn’t look anywhere near as good as it does on any decent tv

(Except the cockpit)

(And the VR showroom)

Apart from the focal point being locked at around 3m or 10ft ish?

Very curious and eager to hear from those of you lucky enough to upgrade soon to the pro.

I am an optimistic person in nature so I tend usually to have a rather positive outlook or expectation out of things and life....

Having said that, in this specific case, I really don't have high hopes that PS5 vR 2 will receive any improvement from the pro... Here I am in the belief that the hardware and optics of the VR2 is the main limiting factors, and despite any software improvements you will not able to see it.

I think we have to be realistic.
Because the pixels in the VR2, as small as they already are, the only way we can see visual improvement, they have to increase the resolution and therefore get the pixel size even smaller, which cannot be achieved with software....

So this is going to be my stand on this matter until we get clarification from the early Pro adapters...

I would like to be proven wrong, please let me be wrong...

Until then, my bet is that any significant improvement will have to wait until the changes with the 3rd PS VR3 generation.

"Significant," as used in this context, has a subjective definition, so no one who answers your question will be providing a legitimate answer for you. Not that anyone can predict the future anyway. Just wait and make your own determination.

significant is a pretty objective definition. if you can't distinguish between minor and significant, it suggests a potential issue with your perception or understanding.

Example:
To me a change from no Raytracing to Raytracing of any kind is a minor improvement at the cost of much hardware power.
To me a change of the current draw distance is significant because it is very annoying to have LoD popups at all.

You could have the opposite oppinion, so no, it is not a basic question of perception or understanding, but instead of priorities in visual quality.

ok, fair. LoD popups are definitely annoying. I hope the additional processing is used to eliminate them.

THere's always a balance, but also personal preference. I would prefer 120fps and the pop ups are fine, but others might prefer 45 or 60fps and the highest LoDs/ least pop up.
