Instead of bringing the 2 long overdue VGTs, they patched out a glitch that can potentially extend the life of career mode. Well done PD, you always have to ruin the fun.

PD = the slowest, worst communicating, most boring, least creative developer ever.
Its even far more insulting since almost all other games releases 2-3 DLC packs at the same timeframe from CM update to now.

Whatever though, GT discussion has been long overdue too. No fun, repetitive all around, same old problems and too little new stuff to be discussed about.

This game is the only game where even if you set the expectation at its lowest, its still disappoints in some way.

I'm ok with no DLC. It's one of the things that I respect about PD actually. Free updates > DLC IMHO. Any new stuff should be added to the next game. Keeps it fresh and we don't pay twice for the same thing.

I don't have any more expectations for GT6, but at least give us the remaining VGTs. But it looks like they give up completely on the game once CM is released and completely focus on GT Sport. That is just unacceptable because the whole VGT concept is to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of GT. If it drags on to GT Sport it loses its whole meaning.

Im actually cool with no DLC. Though to be honest seeing how the car lineup is lacking, i expect to be like the Red Bull Ring Update where they give atleast 3 real cars other than VGT. Doesn't have to be per month, several atleast 2 or 3 months.

If they really focused on GTS and really deliver many new stuff, then its probably understandable, at least. GT6 has been like 2+ years i mean and its on PS3 which isnt really effective for modelling at its fullest.

They're probably saving most of the new cars they make for the next title. The same happened with GT5, they didn't make all the new cars in just the last six months.

It's quiet right now, but GT Sport is around the corner and I'm sure there'll be plenty of news coming soon.

People like the option though. If you want the new cars right now, you pay a premium. If you can wait, you get them in the next game. PD don't offer that choice.

Name one that would release 2-3 DLC packs in this time frame almost 2 years after release?
The fact is that most games do very little if anything at all after the first 6 months. GT is the only game I have saw that continues to provide updates well over a year into the life cycle of the game. Also worth noting that all of the DLC in GT6 has been free.

Ok, I didn't know that, of course GTA is not the same type of game and IMO not worth bothering with but it is a game so I guess it qualifies. The other question I would have would be did that game have paid expansions because there are some games that provide updates over a year after release but those generally have one or more paid expansions that release well after the game release and the updates are generally related to the expansions.

Driveclub! And project C.A.R.S said that there will be DLC and support in whole 2016

Like I said, I called it. The moment the maintenance was announced, I warned everyone from the status updates that this glitch will come to end soon. And a bug/glitch, no matter what good effects it brings to the players, is still a bug/glitch and shall be patched. :indiff:

But to be honest, I really ran out of AI car sets I can really use with the glitch. Because it relied on Suspend Championship option, you cannot use AI car sets from events that uses single race format, such as Like the Wind or NASCAR.

v1.22 confirmed , measly few megs to patch the havoc "track maker" has wreaked ?

So what's the deal GTP ? Why on urf is the front page filled with sissy other games and not even an article on the new patch ..?

PD wouldn't be if it was their choice, either. The VGTs were supposed to all come out in the first 12 months, and the course maker was originally slated to be very early on as well. There's no reason to think that PD intended to support the game beyond 12 months when they designed it, it just happened to end up like that because things went wrong.

Good on them for sticking with it, but they're not intentionally supporting their games for long periods. They're just cleaning up after the mess that they got themselves into by promising more than they could deliver. I imagine that their original intention was something very much along the lines of what Forza provides, but with less cars and more tracks.

How do you know so much about PD's timetables? Is this fact or opinion?

Before the release of GT6, the Course Maker was touted by Kaz and other Polyphony representatives as either being in the game day 1 or added in shortly afterwards. I think it's safe to say that it's fact that they intended it to be released in the first year, given what they told us.

The VGT timetable was on the official Gran Turismo website. It's still there if you go and look under the GT6 features list. "Over 20 of the world leading companies in the automotive industry have designed special cars for Gran Turismo, celebrating its 15th anniversary. Over the course of approximately 1 year, cars from each company will be provided one by one in the game."

B Spec came a little over a year after release, so after ~14 months the only thing that hadn't been added was Course Maker and a handful of VGTs. We know CM didn't go to plan, and neither has the VGT program. But assuming all the other features did then that was a reasonable 12 month program of support.

That they intended their DLC program to be along the lines of Forza but with more tracks is speculation on my part, but not without some foundation. They stated several times that there was intended to be monthly track DLC. They obviously intended 2+ VGTs a month.

Assuming that they didn't have more to add, I think that would count as being similar to Forza but more track focused. 12 tracks and ~30-40 cars is roughly equivalent to 3 tracks and ~100 cars in my book, or at least close enough not to quibble about.

All I've done is take what we know and put two and two together. Polyphony doesn't want to be tied down supporting old hardware any longer than necessary when there's a new system out, but they want to provide value and support to their customers as well. 12 months seems to be the standard at the moment, and there's reasonable evidence that 12 months is more or less exactly what they originally aimed for.

Put it this way, I don't see anything that was obviously intended to be added to the game after the 12 month mark. They've ended up supporting the game for longer anyway, but not because that was the plan. Both the VGTs and the CM were intended to be in the game and done a long, long time ago.
