I was just about to say, I will be transferring my GT5P garage to GT5 but only to use the cars in Arcade mode, if I feel I need a break from GT Mode.
Will not transfer any credits over though, GT Mode is to be played properly IMO.

It's the perfect solution IMO, you can play around and have fun in Arcade Mode with any car you want while still able to experience GT Mode the way PD want you to.

PD doesn't know how I want to play the game. This isn't a linear platform game.

I guess the better words for it would be "how they would like for you to experience a racer's road to fame and fortune" for ex: you dirt poor when started out and have to repeat race until you can afford nicer cars and parts.
Of course if that's not your cup of tea, you can always import someone else's game save just like the case with previous GTs.

This is true, but also I am wondering how GT Mode will be handled this time around compared to GT4.
Will it be as hardcore, or will it appeal to the casuals more in the sense of progression?
I have to admit though, I am hoping for a sort of Forza difficulty scale for amount of credits earned as I intend to turn off all assists and ABS, use damage and professional physics I hope we are treated to some better rewards for the effort.

Anyone have a best guess as to how they will ask for the transfer? Hopefully it is just usb, because I am still running OFW 5.03. ;) Anyone else been mulling over this?

Based on other PS3 games, GT5 probably will check your hard drive for GT5P game save. For GT PSP game save, the game will ask you to connect PSP to PS3. Just guessing.

Thanks for responding. Just hoping it is just usb. I seemed to have problems connecting it to my ps3 and was afraid it was related to my older firmware.

Anyone ever transferred any data from psp to ps3 for another game? If so, did it use usb? (the more I think about it, the more I think it won't be a problem)

Given the new information of cars being used solely for Arcade mode, I think I will transfer my GT5:P game save then. The one bummer with Prologue was when I went to go into a 2-player race, only to find that the only car we could select from was the Ford Focus ST I'd just purchased. If the same is true for Gran Turismo 5, then it would be nice to have an adequately-sized garage for my Arcade/2-4(?)Player mode right off the bat. It would also be nice not to have to re-buy some of the more expensive vehicles for use.

Such was the way with GT2's arcade mode (not sure about the others). You had a limited selection of cars sorted into 5 classes (C, B, A, S, and Rally) that you could use only in Arcade. As your "Simulation" Mode garage grew, you could race the cars in that garage against other cars from other garages, or the Set Classes.

For GT Mode, I feel as strongly as the others about starting the game off from nothing and working hard to earn my cars (although I don't know how the Pre-Order and CE Bonus cars will work out... I just may end up ignoring them as best I can.)

Definetly, mainly so I can drive the ferrari F2007 and polyphony f1 car straight out of the box. It's only for arcade anyway so I don't see it as cutting a major corner anyway

One thought:

In GT5 i´ll transfer the suzuki cappucino (a pre-premium model) and GT5 will downsize the suzuki to a standard-model! LOL

Does it work?

Strange things...
$20 says the Cappucino will be a premium car.

Hmmm, I was sure I had answered this, but guess not.

Since the info's out, I'll be transferring the necessary info to open up as many cars in Arcade as possible. I won't transfer money, and I'll try to avoid using the pre-order and CE bonus cars too early on. Still banking on licenses providing us with a frankly silly number of bonus cars a la GT4; getting 15 cars just for finishing my licenses means my starting money can just sit in the bank.

The only reason I will use my credits from Prologue is to buy duplicate cars that I already own for different paintjobs. Most cars I buy I will want numerous colors to choose from, and to have to rebuy some of these exotics just for a different paintjob will get costly. That is where my credits from Prologue will come in handy.

I think I will for the online, but I'll start from scratch. I'll have the cars and credits but I won't use them until I need to. I heard that GT5P events give you the licences but I'll do them anyways. I wonder if driving challenges are available...

...unless we have a livery editor / paint shop ;)

If at least that isn't included, I'm going to laugh so much at PD. I'd be fine even if we could only paint cars, colors that they had from the factory.

All I want to see is the same thing that GT3-GT4 did. I loved the 100,000 CR bonus since I had a game save on my PS2 from GT3 when I started GT4.

In all likelihood, I'll transfer the cars to arcade mode anyways.

No way, one of my favorite aspects of the gran Turismo series is that you start out with hardly any cash, and picking your very first car needs careful consideration. it makes the game strategic, and i have always loved that.

Very good point sir.

I thought I was convinced in my path, but now, I am second guessing myself.

Well, since you can only use GT5P cars in Arcade mode, I'll transfer with no doubt, God knows how long I've been waiting to take that F40 for a spin in the 'ring. :D

Also, is there any clue on which will be the bonus and pre-order cars? I'm not aware of this situation and I'm struggling to find it in other threads. ;)

I worked damn hard to unlock 100s of cars on GT PSP with little to no reward from that game its only fitting that i transfer over to enjoy them in HD, plus i have loads of cars from day 1 to go online with and the career will be class/PI/Manufacture locked so would not hurt my experience at all, if i transfer over 300 or 400 cars it still leaves me with a task of unlocking another 600 or more cars, that alone is more than any other game on the market. Bring on the transfer for fun on day 1!

I wont transfer my GT5P data because it would ruin the experience for me. I would rather start fresh because its more fun that way.

Its the first i have heard about it Davide, all i knew about was PSP transfer, interesting if GT5P credits and cars go over also? they did make your license tests and credits(i think) go over from GT4P to GT4 so might just be?

Since they are only for arcade mode anyway, theres no reason not do it.
More cars available to have fun when friends come over AND starting out with a POS in GT Mode.

I wanna do as much as I can first but then I will transfer my somewhat extensive psp garage over.
