Maybe eventually, but I want to enjoy the first few weeks of building up my fleet of super (and not so super) cars before transferring over almost limitless money.

No. If you do, you're kind of missing the point of the GT/career mode. Why wreck a game you've waited 6 years for?

(Edit: mildly off topic rant about GT PSP)
Also, if you did buy GT PSP and your brain hasn't wiped it from your memory due to it being such a piss-poor excuse for a GT title, god help you. I feel PD (being contracted by Sony to make a PSP version of GT) just wanted to get it out the door as fast as possible to get on with GT5. Its a terrible game, no worthwhile structure, no feeling of progression. Its worse than Ridge Racer as an enjoyable PSP racing game. The physics just don't work with the PSP pad, and you end up with quite pronounced RSI in two seconds flat unless you always choose auto gears. It also has no analogue braking/throttle. As a package, the PSP defeats the point of Gran Turismo. The result is abysmal, and just not fun. Like Hard Drivin' ported to the SNES. Just shouldn't have happened.

So my point of view is to pretend GT PSP just never happened. Will love to start GT5 afresh.

No chance, I love buying a complete heap of rust and bolts and working my way up to something awsome.

As you say it would wreck the whole game for me.

You are genuinely upset about that game.

There are no doubt issue with the game, but wiping it from memory? As if it's an ex-girlfriend who you caught cheating...:lol: But anyway, I don't want to stoke the fires of that debate very much.

However, I do agree that adding all of those cars will take away from the GT Mode a bit, but overall it's going to be better to transfer for me. Plus, I will have the gtp_scope72 account without any transfers.

GTPSP is a bad game. Playing GT1 on your PSP is more fun, at least that was designed with digital controls in mind.

Back on topic, I'm with scope72. There's plenty of room to have a transfer and non-transfer account. The amount of spare time I have these days, I won't finish working my way through the career mode for years let alone get the cars I want to play online with. I'll be buggered if I'm waiting years to have a decent online game.

I do understand where all the people who are saying they want to play through it properly are coming from, and I wish I had the free time to do the same. But with a two jobs and going to school there's just no way I'll have enough time to do anything but the most fun stuff. I've served my time enough since GT1 that I only feel a little bad about it.

I haven't collected all the cars in GT PSP. I have only collected 20. I plan to transfer those.

If I had all the cars, I would NOT transfer them. Part of the fun in GT is starting with a crap car and builing your way to the ultimate machine!

Perhaps many of you are confusing how the original GT was meant to be played, PD built GT5 with transfers in mind so I doubt the game will be any less fulfilling if you transferred your winnings to the new game, get more than my monies worth out of my purchases. Everyone has his or her own way of enjoyment, I prefer to utilize every avenue in order to get into the online community as quickly as possible. I want to begin tuning and racing on the courses, racing the AI is ok, but it's no substitute for a well learned human.

Remember the old GT forced you to drive crappy cars, but as the newer one's came GT started giving away super cars for getting All golds in a liscence. GT 3 really took off with giving away awesomely powerful cars early on, GT4 toned it down a tad, but it was still there and a generous gifting of credits to start if you had GT3 saved on your memory card. Now with full online implementation, it's all about how you will balance offline play(grinding) with online interaction. Sure hope they keep the tried and true GT 3 money schemes, I would hate to not get good cash for selling a car, shoots a glare at FM.

Hell yes. I for one can't stand grinding. There is something humorous about driving past cars at a million miles an hour that are much slower than you.

In your opinion, buying a lot of cars in gt5prologue, that I'm going to sell in the real gt5 to start with more money, is this a sensate thing?
sorry for my english

GT5P save would be around 35% of the new cars now.

Wonder if people would want a GT4/PSP save file so you can transfer 87% of the cars in GT5?

For me, I'm not sure yet, but I rather want to create a save game without the transfer data first. On the other hand, my dad plays it every so often, and he loves to transfer his data from the start rather than starting the game from scratch. I was thinking of putting at least three save games on their own profiles, one for my use only, one for my dad's use only, and one for both of us to use together to set up the cars. That way, both of us are satisified with our experince with this game!

Even if I had data for both, I still rather play my way through Gran Turismo 5. Every GT is a new experience, and I don't think you learn much or accomplish most by simply porting over data from another GT just to get you started with a recent GT game. It's always "nobody to somebody" for me. So I wouldn't port over ANYTHING.

Nope, picking out your first car and earning the first bit of cash to upgrade is the most fun part of the game too me.

I probably spent the best part of 2 hours picking out a starting car for GT4, 2 awesome hours of strolling through what the game had to offer.

Indeed, I will spend most of my time with GT Life and will only go to arcade mode to drive around; and for those purposes the transfer will suffice to say the least!

Only arcade mode?
Great thing ;-)

In gt5 prologue you could copy and paste a savegame from an other gamer on the web and put it on a usb key then copy it in your ps3 and have every car unlocked! (that's how most of the people could try the expensive Ferrari F1!)
So, if someone does that (not funny anyway, when we'll have the complete game) he will not be able to use that cars online and in GT Mode (GT Life, right?), but only in Arcade mode (for example, to do online time-trials with an expensive car you haven't already bought)
arcade only will be a great thing.

Ah and... if F1 2008 is a premium car (it has cockpit view) does it mean it will have full damage? F1 full damage would be something amazing!
I don't know if Polyphony had done it...
that's why I think that maybe the F1 2008 could be a car with sort of a cockpit, but no real damage...
we'll see...

Regardless of importing a garage (from GT5P, GTPSP, or possibly another GT5 copy), copying a GT5 savegame and using it on a different account (to the full extent) may still be possible...

Hmm... yes, I think you are right, but I am not 100% sure...
Maybe we will get something like an account-linked garage, so if a savegame is connected to another account, the game will not add that cars to our garage...
however, we will see

I will probably just transfer my Subaru Impreza from GT5P. I don't want to have my most powerful cars from that game at the beginning of GT5.

I'll probably transfer my cars, but not use them for a while and actually sell some off just so I don't have to do 5 races to get the money to buy a car that the next event requires.

Cars unlocked in GT PSP and GT5: Prologue will also be unlocked in your garage on GT5 for use in Arcade Mode[/B].

I will move my GT5P and my GTPSP game saves over so I have some good cars to use in the two player arcade.

If I can move credits I will do it later on in the game say when I'm desperate for money at a later stage in the game.

I like slowly progressing in any game. I know GT is not a RPG...but this is just in my nature. So to answer - NO. I want to build my garage in GT5 from (s)crap :D

@MuoNiuLa & Damage Control:
It's been confirmed you can only import and used them in Arcade Mode.

I'm sure you can transfer some credit if you have GT5P game save just like the case with GT4 and GT3.

Really?

Oh well. I guess I'll be starting off with a Civic or something in GT5 then most likely. I prefer to start off with no extra money though.

If it was possible I would like to have different saves. In one I would transfer everything, in the other I would start from scratch, I would also search for a save with all the licenses already available (for those days that I just don't want to bother).
If only one save is possible then I will start from scratch to see how far I can go on my own.

One thought:

In GT5 i´ll transfer the suzuki cappucino (a pre-premium model) and GT5 will downsize the suzuki to a standard-model! LOL

Does it work?

Strange things...

I was just about to say, I will be transferring my GT5P garage to GT5 but only to use the cars in Arcade mode, if I feel I need a break from GT Mode.
Will not transfer any credits over though, GT Mode is to be played properly IMO.

I certainly won't transfer my data to the full game. A GT game isn't the same if you don't start with a cheap used car and race your way to the top. I may transfer cars and credits if somewhere down the road I need insane amounts of grinding. Otherwise, I like the pure feeling.
