Englishman Simon de Bbank will go into the Guiness Book of Records for the longest car drift. While officials set a 15-minute mark as a record breaker, Simon smashed the time at England's MIRA proving ground by holding a WRX sideways for a mind-blowing two hours, eleven minutes and eighteen seconds! That's almost 107 kilometres!

its just a movie i had and i converted a portion into an avatar. its a supra drifting at over 100kmh around a racetrack in america. video is great.

I tried making an avatar out of a movie I have of Tony Hawk doing the 900. Couldn't get the file size low enough though...it's like 126kb. :(

i have the drift video of the supra and knew about the record months ago. y'all need to subscribe to the piston heads newsletter(s) already.

Yeah, well I was reading through one of my car mags from a few months ago and found that in there.

Those two obviously didn't know about the record. :P

You cant drift in a straight line.

He went around and around on some sort of circle type track, I saw it on TV a while ago. They had the guy who broke the record some F1 driver and Tiff Nedel (I think it was on top gear an old UK car program) and they tried loads of different cars drifting round this circle type track.

How does the car have enough momentum to continue drifting for so long, though?

it could be spinning on a "skidpad"? like drifting constantly to the right, or to the left, in a circular shape?

It had to be on a skidpad, probably wet, too. Constantly feathering the throttle, careful steering, etc. Not exactly something I could do....

theres a video at www.3rotor.com that has a blue rex drifting in a circle. im pretty sure that what that guy did. maybe he drifted around a roundabout. ive seen an R34 do 12 circuits of a roundabout when i was driving to work one day

I suppose if he did it for two hours, then with the right conditions he could do it for any period of time.

Yeah well I wasn't thinking of that when I posted that.
If there wasn't though, they wouldn't last for ages. :P
