I'm not. What I'm used to is sitting at 45 degrees on the edge of my bed with a metal bar going across the underneath of my knee with no back support.

DS3s and 15" CRT TVs :mischievous:

Nah, I'm joking. I really hope you end up with something nice. Just wanted to say that it's a fantastic feat that you are attempting. All I can realisticly offer, though, is moral support from across the the continent. 👍
Hey during my ps2 days that is what I played on for up to 8 hours. I could do it again.

Today I played from 12:00 to 20:45 straight on Grand Theft Auto. I have no problem doing one thing for a long time.

No I meant back in the day I did 8 hours on a 15 inch CRT TV.
Actually it was 14 inches.

I played Gran Turismo 5 on one. It had a built in DVD and Video. Those were the days. Sure was glad to get my 1080p TV though.

Regarding numbers and paint schemes, if we are still running the MX-5 TC or end up running another race car of some sort, I'll be #53 and wearing Panther Black Metallic. :D

I'm hoping we end up with a venue near to a train station or close enough. Otherwise I'm stumped for getting there so far.

Let me know where about's in the East Midlands you are and I'm sure I can arrange to come and get you.

Speaking of travel, I would prefer it if someone were able to pick me up from the nearest airport to the venue we would be using. If we could get a hotel conference room or something similar that would be pretty good for the participants since they could just go upstairs to their rooms and sleep for three weeks after it's over.

I've been investigating Spa and I do agree it would make for a good setting. I'm still divided though, as most of the votes are.

First step now is to get a location. I've still not had any response from a few venues and will start to venture into the shopping centre listings if @Famine doesn't get any positive reply from the motor museum at Gaysdon (is that what it's called?).

As for travel, I really have no idea what I'll be doing but I have several options for now: borrow a bike from my mate in London and ride to wherever, bring my bicycle and cycle to wherever (England is small enough I can get anywhere in a few days), or hitchhike there on the motorways. If I'm really lucky one of my family might want to help me out and come for a bit of a holiday to wherever we end up running the race.

I'd love if anyone could pick me up as well, if it's okay. The only flight from here goes to London Stansted, which is, if I remember right, quite a bit outside London itself. That or a guide to the public transportation.

There's only the one gay. It's also home to Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover factories and a very, very large test track.

I would love to be a part of this if I can, driving or otherwise and depending on what my schedule looks like at the time! As for venue, I know of somewhere that I'm confident will want to be a part of this. I'll get back to you on that one...

I presume someone in here has a contact who can source the GT pods as well? I only ask as I went to an event at Aston Martin's HQ in Gaydon who used a few, so I could ask them where they got theirs.

They got back to me already and are really keen to be a part of it, check them out and see what you think.

http://www.letsrace.co.uk/

They are about 5 minutes away from Gatwick Airport, the centre is relevant to what we are doing, and I will be driving down from Shropshire if those hoping for this to be in a midlands wanted a lift! For those of you that wouldn't be able to drive but wanted to come along for support to the cause, they have full racing simulators that could host some adjoining races and really make this one incredible event! They have a GTZone already which has 5 PS3 etc's and are "pods", but hand built (with my assistance a long time ago!) so it may still be best to source the official pods.

Really think this will be the best place but would love to hear thoughts. I can pass on the managers details if anyone wants to find out more about what they do and would be willing to do to help.

Might be easier to arrange, plus adds relevance if you are well suited to a chair prior to using it for >36 hours. Depends what people have available?

That place sounds perfect for what we want to do. I'd personally rather have a pod, since dragging an office chair and G27 across the pond probably gets expensive.

I'm not sure I'd be able to drag my gear halfway around the world and I don't have a wheel so for me it would be pod or nothing.

If people are worried about equipment try not to be, I'll do my best to make sure everyone is kitted out if I can.

I was thinking that UK based people could provide gear, whether they are racing or not. For instance I have a steering wheel and pedals without a seat that could be useful for one of the drivers. They have 5 seat wheels and pedals already so it's only 7 more sets required to go that route.

I do think hiring rigs would be more convenient even if it costs a bit but that's why I'll be looking or a sponsor. We'd have a much more reliable setup using purpose built pods and it would mean an equal amount of equipment for all drivers.

@pezzarinho17, The centre you mentioned, is it a public venue and does it have 24 hour opening ability?

I'm more in favour of Gaydon if it can be done. There's a good chance that having the race held there will be of major benefit when looking for sponsor support.

I'm looking forward to us settling on a venue because I can then approach some big companies to get behind us and help financially.

@W3HS yes it is a public venue. I know the people working there really well and something could easily be arranged where it is kept open for this event. It would be something worth discussing with them though if you have specific ideas about how it should be run, but I'm sure they will be flexible to whatever we request. Having worked there myself for so many years, it could even be that I be on hand to both help with the event and work with Lets Race to help with centres workload.

It's great to have more possibilities. Would I be able to contact them through you and work out some details?

Obviously the decision on a location is up to the community as a whole and after seeing what comes of the Gaydon situation I'll chat with Mr. Purpel and see where things go.

Thanks for your assistance, really appreciated. 👍

Of course, I'll PM his E-Mail to you and @Famine and include my own E-Mail address for correspondence as well.

No problem, glad to be apart of something like this!

what comes of the Gaydon situation
Left hand, right hand at the moment. We're invoking the general manager and I expect a follow-up e-mail tomorrow. I'll be at GT Academy, but I'll have access to me e-mail and GTP.

And you're up for taking part as a driver, @pezzarinho17? I'll add you to the list if you are. 👍

Thanks for the update, Famine. I suppose it isn't something for them to consider lightly so I do understand if they have reservations.

Add me to the list of possible drivers, a lot of variables of course at the moment but if they allow then I would love to race and take the honour of coming last! Even if not one of the drivers though I'll still do my absolute best to make it, so I won't feel bad about not making the cut.
