This is a joke.

We need to start at 9pm.

I don't care if anyone has damage.

I don't care if anyone is running 5 mins later from work.

We start there and then. If we have to restart in the future, I'm leaving straight away.

yup i agree this was a big **** UP

i think if sum1 gets d/c then its just tough **** and we carry on. restarting just seemed to make this worse...

im annoyed with the game and some people but hopefully we can learn from this

I can understand the frustration with connection issues. I've watched the stream from Justintv at work. And my god what a mess!! And when you finally are about to start, people gets damage... WTF?!?!

You guys need to understand that during the formationlap you NEED to take it easy. FFS stay 1000 yards behind the car in front if required.

I'm so happy this is not the real championship.

Connection issues:
I do understand that some of us might experiance issues from time to time. On MAJOR reason for us to have something called: "CONNECT TIME" 30 minutes prior to race. To be able to reconnect a few times if you got trouble.

In the championship, green flag will not be delayed more than 5, prhaos up to 10 minutes, then we need to start the race.

I hope everyone understands why we'll do that. I do understand the frustration for the sorry soul who will be left out. But when managing 30+ drivers, someone will always have connection issues, and the race can not be held up because of that.

I aim to set up 1 or 2 more pre-season races during the summer. Because we are not ready as a group yet. Drivers can not just show up and think everything will work out. NO, we need to pay attention, and stay calm. We are doing races from 175 km to 250 km. Get jumped up on the formationlap and get damage will not make you win the race, nor pushing the car in fronts bumper on the formationlap, or during the race.

Everybody NEEDS to improve for us to have a good, clean and FUN championship. We sure got the skill in here, but do we got the menatality??

I really need to apologise to Wardez, Owens and Tony. I tapped Owens pulling off the start line as I was looking in my rear view to find Wardez as my position was just behind him.

I then acelerated forward as it was only wheel damage, so no biggie, would of continuted up until pit. But I pushed start, to say I had damage, yet then the car swerving into Wardez and hitting him.

We both returned to the pit, and fixed up etc.

Coming back onto the main straight, I followed Wardez up, in my own little world, Wardez broke without me noticing. I shat my pants, swerved to avoid him, to only find Tony sitting there and giving myself full engine damage, and damage to Tony for sure.

This was VERY embarrassing for me, and will not happen again. Sorry for any inconvenience I have caused.

By the way Mule, there's nothing wrong running 3 wide down Mulsanne. I think the only reason you're moaning at that is because you put a wheel on the grass going into the Porsche Curves. No biggy.

MÜLE_9242;5495408
GT300's need a better sense of learning to work together and not going 3-wide into the damn Mulsanne corner.

I crashed, got engine damage, I quit, now I need dinner.

...And I can't even watch the GT500 race because they limited it to 7 people...

On top of all that happened today, you are whining about going 3 wide into the Mulsanne corner. You, who on the few races i've had in the WSGTC, have been the only driver to give me trouble when lapping you, passing you as a GT500 car or overtaking you when we're in the same class.

Excuse me sir, but i don't need you to tell me to learn how to do anything in GT.

Besides that, you crashed on your own, and you insta-quit just because you got damage. I hope other WSGTC drivers don't share the same mentality.

I'm not gonna go into what happened today here, i prefer to keep it private between me and Dennis.

I'm not either, couldn't catch you Piket, I do have to work tomorrow which is why I quit not because I couldn't catch you. We do need to learn from this though and move forward

Are you sure that was me? All I've done in the previous races was stay out of everyones way and hold my line. If there was an issue, it was a complete accident.

I quit because I had to have dinner, like I've stated already. If it was an actual race, I wouldn't have. My mentality is fine, tyvm.

If you want to reply further, please PM me.

I still think Tony should be banned from racing in the GT500 class though. He pulled away like a machine in his Arta, nevertheless the remainding driving fast or slow..

Tony could use a Fiat 500 and manage a win. He's a true Alien.

Josh, only thing with start there was you needed to stay put. :) don't move until car you are following moves past you. If he moves before others you know are ahea of him. Use sense.

This helps if you keep the starting order handy.

I myself screen shot it on the iPhone and have it as a picture ez access. :)

I truly think there was somethings learned and the room connection issues got several off their game if you will.

We will get it right, I have faith in the racers present.

Btw Cars 2 is a Must See flick!!! Great lil movie. Got me all sorts of pumped to race on GT5.

Sounds like I missed a bit of a mess today. Sorry for you guys that it didn't work out better.

Wes - if you get a chance, would you mind pm'ing me my quali time. I am curious.

This.. 👍

From the OP:

Setting Grid Positions on Race Day
The grid will be set by running a formation/parade lap. After the race countdown reaches zero, you must hold your positions! DO NOT MOVE ONE INCH!. Remember your
spot from the qualifying results, as well as the drivers in front of and behind you.

Same class:
Cars move from the grid ONE by ONEin qualifying order. The Pole car drives up and parks about 100 m (300 ft) a head. (WHILE DOING SO, THE OTHER CARS DO NOT MOVE ONE INCH). As he passes the start-line, the next driver can move up, and so on. When all cars are in the correct position and are NOT moving, the pole car may start the formation lap.

Mixed class
GT300's will sort their grid positions first. While GT300's sort their grid, GT500's DO NOT MOVE.
GT300 cars move from the grid ONE by ONE in qualifying order. The Pole car drives up and parks about 100 m (300 ft) ahead. (WHILE DOING SO, THE OTHER CARS DO NOT MOVE ONE INCH). As he pases the start line, the next driver can move up, and so on. Once all cars are in the correct position and are NOT moving, the pole car may start the first of two formation laps. When the first lap is comleted, be sure to pass the parked GT500 pack with caution. As soon as the GT300 pack have passed the GT500 pack, the GT500's may pull away from the start line ONE by ONE in starting order.
From here on, GT300's lead the formation lap, with GT500's about 45-60 seconds behind.

We use this procedure to try and ensure that all cars got a decent chance of completing the race before the timer (max 180 sec) runs out. By doing this, we also get finishing times for (hopefully) all cars making any penalties encurred easier to apply.

With this in mind, follow the steps below:

  • First, you must remember your Grid Spot (Super Lap Qualifying).
  • Hold your positions when countdown reaches zero.
  • Cars will make their way ONE BY ONE to the front and roll as a separate pack.
  • Cars must roll at a maintained pace of 55 mph / 90 kmh.
  • Field will roll double file (Single file for the Nurburgring 24h race).
  • Odd numbers will start on the inside lane relative to turn 1.
  • Even numbers will stay on the outside lane (Opposite side).
  • The Pole sitter will decide the point at which the race starts as he approaches the start-finish line.
  • You must maintain a minimum of One car length between you and the car in front (same lane).
  • One car length is the minimum, meaning it's up to you how large the gap is.
  • You must always maintain FULL visual contact with the ahead of you (opposite lane).
  • You're front bumper must not overlap the rear bumper of the car ahead of you (oposite lane), doing so can be viewed as a false start and a penalty can be applied as a result.
  • You must wait for the car ahead of you (opposite lane) to accelarate before you do!
  • No passing before the start finish line! Penalties will be strictly enforced for false starts, illegal passing, and overall aggressive driving!

Denilson, I used the hold brakes, false start deal for beginning of race. Which kinda acts as a last reminder.

As well if everyone pauses before green flag the cars ghost. As well host can type with the pause screen. Now this is where it needs decided who will act as Coordinator for each Div weekly. This person will be in charge of typing order as cars pull up. He also should do a call out like we did in season 1. This should be done before entering track. Just as a refresher. However back to the pause, no car should be live until thier names called.

Call out was where you typed 1. And awaited the person in position to type their own name. And so on. Or each class.

Just remember after names called DO NOT PAUSE AGAIN. Car will auto drive through anyone and everyone. You have to be stopped completely and be at 100% brakes to press pause!!!

Hope this can be implemented into our start procedures.

We could do that. But it can't be that hard to just hold the brakes until it's your turn.. Right?

Btw: I have sent you a PM with a few things we need to discuss. Please answer it as soon as you've read it. 👍

Pause just avoids any worries of dmg as cars pass by.

Right ive calmed down a bit from last night.

i think the main problem is Goruk, his internet was crazy laggy, it must of been someone downloading or sumthing in his house for it to be that bad.....

Apart from Goruk, my room seemed to be fine, gt300s got off to good start and gt500s did a good start untill Goruk was all over the track

After that it was just a mistake to move rooms etc as it takes time and people were getting frustrated etc

Ok, so what have we learnt from this?

1. When a room is up, we will not create a new one.
2. Race will always start at GF-time SHARP.
3. If someone lags bad, he need to leave the room.
4. Keep your distance, and stay sharp during the formationlap. There is no need at all to stay to close to the car ahead. In the OP, it says that you must stay 1 car lenght behind the driver in fron of you (Same lane) as a MINIMUM. How large that gap will be is up to the driver, and all cars behind him must accept that.
5. During the start, press the E-brake until it sticks, press pause, and your car will be transparent. When your name is called for in the chat, un pause, and drive up to your grid spot. (Correct Owens?)

6. You will not win the race during the formationlap.. ;)

Sounds good to me, Owens idea is good but i feel that its just a watse of time, everyone knows where they should be, just take it slow and move when you see the guy that your behind in a striaght line

Anyway Den what ideas you got for next week?

Wouldn't mind having a spin in this if I can get the time, would any of the Stealth DLC cars be allowed? (GTR, NSX or McLaren F1)

At the moment we have banned them as its not possible to get the correct PP/BHP to make it fair....

However im not sure if testing has been done with them?

I don't know actually since I might go away to spain or greece for a week.
But as it looks, I'll stay at home. Had some plans before, but some things made my plans way more expensive than planed..

But how about we make it simple. Just race! I feel that all procedures and rules are taking to much concentration at the moment. Let's just race and get to know eachother.

Later on, probably the week before Round 1, I'll set up another race like the one we "had" yesterday. With a full week of qualis just like the real deal to fresh up drivers memories a bit prior the launch of WSGTC 2.

I'm also thinking that during next week, we'll sort out who will drive which car.
tony1311 is helping me with some final testing for the cars since the feedback I've recieved is not as good as I hoped. I simly don't trust my driving. So with tony1311's concistancy, I'm quite sure we can set the level of mods/tunes in stone.

How about a race at Nurburgring GP/F this Friday, July 1st? Quali for grid spots start 20 minutes prior the race?

Btw: I sent you a few PM's. Please get back to me asap when you've read them. Thanks. 👍

Hmm, well there needs to be a set procedure, or at least a recommended one for getting races going.

First, we can't just randomly decide who's going to host the rooms. What we have to do is do a series wide stress test of connections and host compatibility.

We do that by just getting as many people as we can into one room over a couple nights and letting different people host the rooms to see which person hosting has the least troubles with all of us racing in the room.

The room settings will always be the same (as mentioned in the op) but we'll simply let different stewards and capable hosts.

So the "WSGTC hosts stress test" will go something like this:
1) Post up a scheduled stress test session a week in advance and ask that anyone who wants to take part in the series join in order to test their connections in different room host scenarios.
2) Give everyone a set of basic instructions on how to best have their internet connections running before connecting to a race room [simple stuff like: clear network cache, make sure no one in the house has torrents, netflix or other major downloads or streams running.]
3) We try one room hosted by Denilson, do a 1 lap race trying to stay close together and have everyone report back on who saw who, if anyone was lag sliding, or blinking out. Then we move over to a new room hosted by someone else and do the same.
4) After trying a few different hosts then we should have a good idea of who the better hosts for the official races might be. I think always trying to use the same hosts is a bad idea. But if room hosts don't matter at all, I have an open mind to it, but we should still test it before we put that theory to rest.

Things to note:
I know GT5 can just be bad some days and we might've just had "one of those days" yesterday but we can still try to pinpoint the best way to get a consistent and smooth racing experience by investigating our options. I think that just doing a bit more homework can do miles of good for the series.

If its GT500 class wouldn't it just be 500hp and 1100kg weight?

Its a little bit more difficult than that lol

Yea that sounds like a good idea, people can still test different cars etc

I think we still need to test the rolling starts during the race as we dont have it perfect.... As quali twill be 20 mins before the cars should be in order on start line.

If its GT500 class wouldn't it just be 500hp and 1100kg weight?

No, a lot of cars weigh more than 1100 kg.
Toyota CASTROL TOM'S SUPRA: 1150 kg
Nissan AUTECH MOTUL GT-R: 1130 kg
And a few more. It's impossible to remove more weight for those models.

And by just setting a HP/WEIGHT limit, the cars will not be equal.

So we test all cars, and sort out individual PP's for all of them. You can see the list in the OP (post 5).

And stealth cars are not ok in WSGTC for one simple reason:
No one had one, so we could not test them to get them on par with the other car.
And we also want to simulate the real Super GT. And that's why we only use the Premium models that can be bought in the NCD.

Just asking, point well made.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and test out some of the GT500 and GT300 cars.

👍

If I recall, we did similar testing prior season 1.
I'm all for it.
Dedicate one day for a good cause like this will as you say help us avoid some issues.

Btw: Did you read my PM?
