NA Super GT Season Qualifying Process
(Not final/Subject to revisions)
For much closer racing, determining who gets in to race will not be decided
through a 'first-come-first-serve' basis. Instead, we will be basing it on
speed. Entrants must submit a Time Trial lap. Rules will be loosely based on
the good old WRS (Weekly Race Series)

Time Trial Qualifying
Drivers must submit a saved replay to me, Masi_23 via private message. Deadline
will be 11:59PM PST (GMT-8) Wednesday of the current race week. Your lap should be done in Practice
Mode so there will be no tuning. Use soft racing tires. Clutch is prohibited for G25/G27
users

Deadline for submission - Tuesday 11:59PM

Rules
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • Rumble/Ripple strips are part of the track
  • The green painted concrete next to the rumbles is not part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track
  • No contact with walls or object, visible or invisibile
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • Otherwise, if confirmed dirty, a 5 second penalty will be imposed on your lap
  • You can only submit once, make it count!
  • Do not discuss your lap times in the thread!

Once the times are confirmed, a list will be posted the next day. The top 8 drivers on
each class will be locked in to the race and be placed on Division 1 and drivers from
9th on down will be put on Division 2. Drivers that failed to qualify will be relegated
into a waiting list.

Setting Grid Positions on Race Day
Not final, subject to changes and revisions
Qualifying speeds will also be the starting grid on Race Day. How will this
work? Before the race, there will be a 10 minute free run session to loosen
everyone up. After the free run session, drivers will be lined up according to
Free run speeds. Once the countdown reaches zero, HOLD YOUR POSITION!
We will run a 'Parade Lap' to organize the grid. Pole sitter will serve as the
Pace car. Maintain a pace of 35-55MPH.

Stewards will wear Mics to organize the chaos, in case the mics don't work, follow below..
  • Do not move when race countdown reaches zero!
  • Remember your Grid Spot! Remember the names of the person infront and behind you beforehand!
  • Pole sitter will make his way to the front.
  • Pole sitter will go ahead and lead the field maintaining a slow pace
  • One by one, fall in line on your predetermined grid spots.
  • Pole sitter will lead the whole field the whole lap at 35-55PMH
  • Field will approach grid markings before making a full lap
  • Pole sitter will take his spot - P1 INSIDE LANE
  • Next fastest qualifier - P2 OUTSIDE LANE
  • Everyone will take their positions one by one, Hold your Positions!
  • Look at the clock at the Top Right Corner of the Screen saying "Total Time"
  • Green Flag will be at 5:00'00 exactly! (May depend on track)
  • Again, when clock hits 5:00'00 its go time! Green flag! Everyman for himself!
________________________________________ _______________________________________

Raceday
There will be 2 races held based on qualifying times on each Race day
Top 8 on each class will be in Division 1 race
Next 8 on each class will be in Division 2 race

Division 1 Race
Top 8 Speeds - GT500
Top 8 Speeds - GT300

Division 2 Race
9 - 16 Speeds - GT500
9 - 16 Speeds - GT300

Race 1 and Race 2 will be hosted in the open lobbies. Qualified drivers will be sent a
password to access the room. Until further notice, only Masi_23 (GTP_Masicampo) will host the
races, otherwise, both races can be held simultaneously with 2 hosts. Volunteers, welcome.

Any driver who pulls out from Division 1 will be replaced by someone from Division 2. Cut off for
replacements will be 2 hours before actual race time. Anyone who pulls out further down the
speed chart (Div 2) will be replaced by someone from the waiting list. Otherwise, if any Division 1
race was held without a full grid, official results from Division 2 will move up depending on the
number of empty spots in Division 1

Note
A replay of the whole race will be saved and reviewed by race stewards!
Incidents must be reported 24 hours after the race. Appropriate penalties will be applied
and announced along with the official results.

Would love to see this out, sounds just awesome. Very thoroughly thought it, love it.

Region: US - West PST

Love the use of more track variety. Track list is solid. Monte Carlo will be amazing. I would only want to add Tokyo Route 249 for sure. I always imagined it being a special event race in Super GT if a "GT world" existed.

I would also consider Special stage route 5 since it would be a great night race in Japan, albeit fictional. De Le Sarthe would also be nice but I don't exactly know to what standard you're selecting tracks so let me know if these can be considered. Then again that would be a lot of races.

Suggestion 1 is the preferred method :)

Well, everythings not set in stone yet, so changes will be made. The track selection is just my personal taste. I dont really like fictional tracks and De La Sarthe is a bit too big. But yah, we'll see once more people leave comments.

I probably should have posted this in the morning. Everyone's asleep right now. lol.

What sort of race length did you wanna go for, maximum length, time, laps?

I think twenty-five or thirty minute races would be good.

I'm in. I was cut from Strittan's Super GT series so I'll sign up here.

PSN - CoconutComa
GT500 - Nissan Calsonic Impul GT-R '08
Wheel - G27
Region - US East

PS - Suggestion #2 is not a feasible way to qualify. There are no regulations and a person can use ANY means necessary to post a picture of said lap time including drafting or unqualified parts installed on vehicle.

I'm thinking of doing the first preseason race at Fuji. Wide track with a lot of runoff, a good place to get accustomed to racing with each other. Length of race will be 100km (about 70miles), which is about 20 laps.

This sounds great!

I have an idea to add to this series:

It would be nice if you had a rolling start, I know there is a option
to have one but I have a better idea. What if you had a pace car in
every race? I would be very interested in this "job" :D, I have a
Gran Turismo Skyline pace car in my garage.
So, 1lap behind pace car before start of the race to warm up tires and oil :)
What do you guys think? Going too far?
I could then park the pace car somewhere safe, and maybe we could use
it if it would start to rain or if a big crash happends?

Well, it would ruin the balance of the grid. But certainly a great idea. Maybe we should
test it out sometime in the future.

A pace car could potentially take up space of the already limited 16 slots.

Having the grid set up through qualifying sessions already leaves the gt300 class in the back in order to minimize accidents.

My opinion, not based on any actual facts, is that a warm up lap is useless to the outcome of the race. It only adds an unnecessary lap to the race and takes away from the caution aspect the first corner presents because of cold tires.

In regards to qualifying...depending on how many people sign up, I think Top 8 from each class make the A main. THe remainder make the B main, thus we are all able to race. Points system. Increase points to NASCAR format to allow room for 2 divisions.

Div1
1 185
2 175
3 170
4 165
5 160
6 155
7 150
8 145
9 142
10 140
11 138
12 136
13 134
14 132
15 130
16 128

Div 2

1 125
2 115
3 110
4 105
5 100
6 95
7 90
8 85
9 82
10 80
11 78
12 76
13 74
14 72
15 70
16 68

Therefore the worst car in div 1 can never get less points than the best in div 2.

As far as times, I'd prefer after 6pmEST or 6:00pm -5:00GMT

Nice we have a US Super GT League now. I'm in Masi!!!

PSN - GTP_Shigegaki
GT500 - Nissan Motul Autech GT-R '08
Wheel - G27

Awesome. I will add all of the Entrants on PSN.

@ Jaedon - great idea. Although we would need more commitments to fill the divisions.

Point System (tweaked to lower the numbers)
Division 1
1 - 100
2 - 80
3 - 72
4 - 64
5 - 57
6 - 50
7 - 44
8 - 38

Division 2
1 - 33
2 - 28
3 - 24
4 - 20
5 - 17
6 - 14
7 - 12
8 - 10

Bonus points: 10 Points for Pole Position.

This system will put more emphasis for the Overall winner for each class.

This way people that technically wouldn't have made it, get a chance to race. Plus it encourages drivers to improve or stay where they are because you might be bumped down or moved up :) Creates great rivalries.

I think Suggestion No. 1 would be the best bet considering that is how WRS has been ran and we haven't had any problems.

Question.

What are the contact rules for drivers in the same class? Am I allowed to, keyword following, tap a driver in order to disturb his or her rhythm and pass? It's a relatively high level technique, imo, because of the difficulty to properly gauge such contact without having the opposing driver spin out or go off course.

Damage will be locked to full/heavy.

For now, consequences for intentional/aggressive/poor decisions will not be penalized.
The high risk of ruining your race, or race car, will serve as your penalty. Also, don't
be surprised if in the next race, you get taken out out of nowhere for some reason...
wink* wink*

But! If anyone is willing to serve as a steward and monitor the race (or watch the
replay) and check the conduct of the racers, then a penalty system shall be created.

Last edited:
You could have a penalty system implemented with the rule that disputes are to be submitted with a short description of the accident accompanied by a replay of reported accident.

The pure trash of a replay system PD gave us doesn't allow us to have a user friendly way of viewing such occurrences. This way it's the disputers responsibility to give the appropriate and relevant information while a committee reviews the material.

If it comes out like I explained I don't mind viewing said material. 👍

Sounds good. I'll give it a look and and ill put forth a suggestion for a penalty system.

By the way, is it possible to save the full replay of a long race? Lets say 20 laps in Fuji?

Oh yeah. That's the ONLY way to save the race.

The problem is that you can't save segments, ie laps, accidents, 3 laps, etc. Which is why I mentioned the atrocious replay system...did I say it was terrible? Oh yes I did.

So the only way to record a segment is to either mount a recorder to your tv or use a digital camera and upload a dispute on youtube for us to view.

I see what your saying. If the incident happened on lap 19 of 20, you have to watch all 18 laps before viewing said incident. Unfortunate.

I think if a player is appealing the race because of an incident, it is the drivers responsibility to watch the race and tell us the exact corner, lap and time of the race in which the incident occurred. If it is important to the driver than they'll watch the replay. I would love to steward the races :) I can watch the replay's if need be. All appeals must be submitted before the end of day Saturday, and I will have my decision by Wednesday. With multiple incidents, I would hope they are at different points in race, therefore only 1-3 replays will have to be watched.

Also if there is an appeal, I will tape the lap before until 30 sec after the incident and post it :)

Sounds good Jadeon.

Committee
Steward #1 - Jadeon
Steward #2 - Masi_23

As for race time, im available from 3:00PM PST up to 9:00PM PST
4:00-5:00 PST would be ideal for all racers across the continent.

Well I know I can't race this Saturday...Christmas Dinner! :) Someone can save replay and email it to me. PM me for email. Masi I may leave you in charge of saving replay. I can review Sunday. The following 2 Saturdays are Xmas and New Year's. We may want to take a break and test and tune at all the tracks and prepare to open the season 2nd week of Jan. :) Just a thought.

Yes. The whole month of December will be the Preseason. We don't really have to Race this coming
Saturday since its the preseason. Once the grid is full, we can race a couple of days after. No qualifying at the moment.

I'll be opening a lobby later on tonight and put in some practice.

Regular season will open sometime in January.

I'm in Masi_23, sign me up!
I'm going to use TOM'S Petronas SC430
Btw I'll add you as a friend in a bit, so later on tonight maybe I can join you in your lounge for a bit of a practice
