That was a lot of fun! Had to disconnect to get a coyote out of the backyard, can't wait for tomorrow :) Need to work on my car a bit. The setup I was using was amazing offline with soft tires but I feel like I'm driving on ice right now.

Really good racing tonight guys, definitely enjoyed it.

One thing I noticed, which may be important when it comes to the real race, when you set a qualifying time in free run, if quit out of free run mode, you loose your laptime. You can go to the pits for tyres though. So when it comes to the real race, it is worth remembering not to quit out to the main lobby.

Also, I thought the rolling starts worked well, although I wasn't sure to fully accelerate when I was the leader, is it full throttle out the last corner? or is it hold speed until you reach the start line? Or is it gradually pick up pace towards the start line?

No, tomorrow, the grid will be set based on our "Super Lap Qualifying" results. Today didn't matter, since its just a tire test. Also, its good to practiced the idea of the parade lap/rolling start.

You're probably going to be the overall Pole Sitter. You must not exceed 45 MPH until the race goes green. Green Light/Flag will be dictated by you. A few feet before the finish line, or after the finish line. You will start on the left side (inside lane). No passing for the rest of the guys behind you until they cross the line (Yes, everyone including the guy beside you).

I'll put a 'RACE BRIEF' on post 1 tomorrow so everyone will know.

Also, for Division 2 drivers: Division 2 race will be hosted by me. It will start an hour after the Division 1 Race (or sooner) It depends.

Okay, I understand Masi. 👍

I've just thought, assuming I am eligible to race tomorrow in D1 (or D2), if I am still around, I could potentially be the pace car for the other Divisions race if required? That way, the guy in first only has to worry about warming up their tyres rather than regulating the pace?

There will be pace cars (safety cars) for both races tomorrow, assuming they show up :) otherwise, ill be the pace car for the D2 race so its easier on the connection (latency). But ill let you know if something else comes up.

Working from home has it's advantages so I don't mind being a pace/safety care for D1 if needed as well. I can disconnect after as well to keep the speed of connection as high as possible. Just let me know.

Also, I must confess when I first saw that race #2 was 'Seca I wasn't impressed b/c I've never liked the track but after running it over and over and over I've really come to appreciate what an awesome track it is. It's become the track I go to to test new cars I pick up :)

Qaulifying list Updated.

If you submitted a Lap and don't see your name on the list, please let me know.

I've been waiting for days. To join this Racing Series. I have a GT300 car. Whoever holds practice sessions, whatever get ahold of me. My PSN is, STALLIONO_-

When I was about to host a race a while back you wrote the same thing. And when I got out of the game, and wrote your PSN in the searchfield for friend rquests, you did not answer.

So I think it's better if you add "GTP_Masicampo", and come back to the thread once in a while to update yourself about races. Remember that Masi_23 can't add everybody who reads the thread and gets interested. It would take him forever. So I think he would love to get a little bit of corporation, instead of just write something like: "Hi, I'm interested, add me"..

He has a lot to do as far as organazing everything. Try to make it a little bit easier for him. 👍

I'm an idiot. I've been looking at the D1 start time all week and just realized D2 doesn't start until 7pm EST. I can't make it because I have to work a shift starting at 7!

I guess I should have put in a better quali time to make D1 lol.

Sorry about that Masi. I'll make sure not to cover on Fridays anymore. Happy racing everybody. Can't wait to see the results.

ID would help wouldn't it.

If anyone else is willing to host, you can still make the race.

Someone who has fast internet :D

Although it's only the practise race, I had an absolute blast, and I thought it was actually a fantastic race for most people - if the official event is this fun that would be something!

WSGTC Tyre Testing Session Race Report

15 Laps.
Laguna Seca.
Damage: Heavy.
Tyres: Racing Hard.

The grid was composed of 8 cars, as follows:

1. qczhao - Takata Dome NSX - GT500
2. Nycrom - Yellowhat Supra - GT500
3. GTP_Sigma - Calsonic Skyline - GT500
4. Moleman - Wedsports IS350 - GT300
5. GTP_Masicampo - Wedsports IS350 - GT300
6. GTP_Aizen_93 - Arta Garaiya - GT300
7. sally2k - Arta Garaiya - GT300
8. Kamykaze1098 - Arta Garaiya - GT300

After a formation lap, the grid lined up for a rolling start, led away by qczhao.

LagunaSecaRaceway_1.jpg

The run down the first corner was frantic, with each driver jockeying for position. However, all managed to hold on to their starting grid slots. However, Masicampo in the IS350 immediately found himself under attack by Aizen, who braked late and took a daring line around the outside of turn 2.

LagunaSecaRaceway_30.jpg

As the cars streamed out of turn 2, sally2k was too eager on the power and dropped himself into the gravel slightly, giving away 7th place to Kamykaze.

LagunaSecaRaceway_31.jpg

The GT500 battle at the front was extremely fierce. qczhao, leading the cars away, established a cushion of a few tenths as they screamed towards turn 5 for the first time. However, Nycrom enjoyed no such luxury and found himself under attack by Sigma, who made a brilliant exit from turn 4. Nycrom moved to defend the inside line, however Sigma would not be deterred and chose the outside instead!

LagunaSecaRaceway_2.jpg

After the Calsonic Skyline dispatched the Yellowhat Supra, it began storming after the NSX in the lead.

Meanwhile, Moleman in his GT300 IS350 took advantage of the scrap and kept with the superior machinery all the way to the corkscrew.

LagunaSecaRaceway_32.jpg

LagunaSecaRaceway_3.jpg

After the mother of all turn 7's, the cars dropped their way down back towards the pit straight. Sigma wasted no time in reeling in qczhao, and by the final turn of Lap 1, launched an attack up the inside.

LagunaSecaRaceway_4.jpg

qczhao held his nerve however, and managed a much better exit, keeping Sigma at bay as they streamed past the finish line to start their second lap. Nycrom capitalised on this tussle by closing up to Sigma and enjoyed a nice draft down the pit straight to put himself right back into contention.

Meanwhile, in the GT300 class, Masicampo began to reel in Moleman by closing a gap that had grown to over a few seconds. Behind him, the GT300 field began to open out, as the pace of the runners began to settle.

The front runners entered turn 2 for the second time, seperated approximately by the width of a goldfish's bum. (I tell you now, I'm going to run out of adjectives to describe closeness before this report is over).

LagunaSecaRaceway_5.jpg

At turn 4, Sigma, still recovering from a slight error at turn 3, went in too fast and understeered into the gravel, putting himself out of contention for the lead. Half the field streamed past before he could wrestle himself back onto the track.

LagunaSecaRaceway_6.jpg

By Lap 3, battles had developed all along the field. For the lead, qczhao and Nycrom duked it out, they traded sector times, pushing each other hard and were rarely more than a second apart.

For 3rd place, Moleman and Masicampo were having an intra-Wedsports dingdong. No quarter was given and none taken.

LagunaSecaRaceway_7.jpg

For 5th place, the Arta Garaiya piloted by Aizen was holding off a determined Kamykaze, who was on a charge and had closed the gap down.

LagunaSecaRaceway_8.jpg

Trailing them was Sigma, relegated to 7th place but lapping fast. Finally, sally2k, having made some mistakes in the heat of the opening laps, ran in a lonely 8th.

LagunaSecaRaceway_10.jpg

The race entered into the 4th lap with no change in position. Nycrom was still stubbornly glued onto qczhao's tail, despite the best efforts of the NSX driver. Arta and Wedsports were still butting heads through the cars of Aizen and Kamykaze, and Masicampo and Moleman were still enjoying their flying formation of Lexii (plural of Lexus?).

The corkscrew however, is not feared throughout the racing world for no reason, and this time around it claimed Masicampo for a victim. Putting the power down too early; the Lexus fishtailed wildly. Masicampo saved it, but it was enough to drop him out of the fight with Moleman and into the clutches of the other GT300 runners and Sigma.

One consolation Masicampo can take is that it looked spectacular.

LagunaSecaRaceway_33.jpg

LagunaSecaRaceway_34.jpg

LagunaSecaRaceway_35.jpg

As they speared towards Turn 10, Masicampo, who evidently was still trying to make up for lost time, ended up committing beyond the limits of the car, and went wide in another spectacular slide.

LagunaSecaRaceway_36.jpg

A gaggle of cars headed into the final turn. It was led by the Arta of Aizen, hounded by Sigma, and the two IS350's of Kamykaze and Masicampo brought up the rear.

LagunaSecaRaceway_9.jpg

As the racers dug into Lap 5, the pressure that Nycrom was putting on qczhao slowly began to show. A mistake out of turn 10 allowed Nycrom a chance up the inside of turn 11.

LagunaSecaRaceway_11.jpg

It did not stick however, as qczhao once again made sure he got the better exit. The cars were seperated by a whisker as they crossed the line, and it remained so for all of the next lap.

LagunaSecaRaceway_13.jpg

In the heat of battle, the NSX nearly overshoots the corkscrew. However the Supra isn't able to capitalise.

LagunaSecaRaceway_14.jpg

qczhao forced to go defensive. In the background, Sigma's Calsonic GT-R begins to loom.

It takes only another half a lap for Sigma to close up on Nycrom, his speed was like lightning.

LagunaSecaRaceway_17.jpg

And it only takes one corner and the drag up the hill to pass him.

Post corkscrew, the front three are seperated again by no more than a second.

LagunaSecaRaceway_19.jpg

Sigma once again closes up on qczhao, eyeing up the Takata Dome NSX for the lead. However, disaster strikes again, as into turn 2 the GT-R brakes too late, and overshoots the apex!

LagunaSecaRaceway_20.jpg

Sigmas race then goes from bad to worse as he makes an unnecessary pit stop, not realising that the mandatory pit stop rule was relaxed for this testing race.

LagunaSecaRaceway_21.jpg

Back in GT300 land, the top two runners of Aizen and Moleman (who are now placed 3rd and 4th in the race, due to Sigma's pit stop) were having an almighty fight. Behind them, a ways down the road, was Masicampo, doing his level best to catch up with the scrapping pair. Further back were Kamykaze and sally2k, both now running a lonely race.

Some pictures from the mid section of the race:

The NSX is eating it's tyres quicker than the Supra, and qczhao is beginning to struggle now to hold onto his lead.

LagunaSecaRaceway_37.jpg

Aizen level with Moleman.

LagunaSecaRaceway_38.jpg

Aizen loves to brake down the outside of turn 2. This time, it hands him the GT300 class lead.

LagunaSecaRaceway_40.jpg

Two cars don't fit into the Corkscrew, but these guys try it anyway.

LagunaSecaRaceway_41.jpg

A beautiful shot of the Arta.

LagunaSecaRaceway_42.jpg

And the Wedsports chasing it.

As the race reached its final third, the pressure was beginning to get to qczhao. The strain had taken it's toll on the NSX's rear tyres, which were beginning to lose grip. He was finding it harder and harder to keep the raging Supra at bay.

Finally, on Lap 11, after going defensive on the final corner on Lap 10, qczhao's exit was compromised. Nycrom immediately seized the advantage and launched an attack up the inside of turn 2.

LagunaSecaRaceway_22.jpg

Not one to give up, qczhao tried to double back and regain the lead on the exit.

LagunaSecaRaceway_23.jpg

However, Nycrom was able to get on the power better, and the Supra finally took the lead.

LagunaSecaRaceway_24.jpg

qczhao fought in the next few corners, but it became obvious that he could not match Nycrom's pace. By the time they had reached the hill, a sizeable gap had opened.

LagunaSecaRaceway_25.jpg

The GT500 race was finally settled, and Nycrom confidently paced himself for the last 5 laps to seal the deal.

The GT300 race became like the GT500 - a battle of two horses. In one corner, the Arta of Aizen, and the other, the Wedsports of Moleman. Aizen still held the lead going into the closing stages of the race, although it was not for lack of trying from Moleman.

LagunaSecaRaceway_27.jpg

LagunaSecaRaceway_44.jpg

It would all come down to who could keep their head together the longest, and in the end, that turned out to be Moleman.

Aizen, in a moment of lapse of concentration, put the Arta off the road for a split second on the exit of turn 2.

LagunaSecaRaceway_45.jpg

This was enough to hand the slender advantage to Moleman which was cemented when Aizen pushed too hard in the subsequent corner, and could only watch as the gap to the IS350 increased beyond reach.

LagunaSecaRaceway_46.jpg

In the end, Nycrom won comfortably. He opened up a gap of 10 seconds to qczhao, who struggled badly with worn tyres and had several off track excursions in the last few laps.

LagunaSecaRaceway_29.jpg

Sigma trailed home in 3rd, a sure disappointment for one who's fastest lap was ~2 seconds clear of the others.

4th place went to Moleman - winner of the GT300 class.
5th went to Aizen, several seconds down the road.

FULL CLASSIFICATION.

1. Nycrom
2. qczhao
3. Sigma
4. Moleman
5. Aizen
6. Masicampo
7. Kamykaze
8. sally2k.

I hope you enjoyed reading this. It's now 4am and I need to sleep!

Awesome Race Report! This is as close as we can get to a highlight reel. I'm sure there will be more action come tomorrow :)

"Corkscrew Screwed me up!"

Kudos to you! Maybe you can do this every week :D

Great read! I switched some controls around so my throttle control was terrible.
I can't wait for my wheel to get here!

qzchao: GREAT REPORT!! Love to read this!

I know that the time put in to this is far more than the time it takes to read it! About 2-3 hours (including watching the replay and taking pics)?

When you put down this kind of effort it really makes me smile! 👍👍

I know it's not possible to do this kind of race report after every race. It would demand to many hours. But I have an idea for Masi_23 to concider.

If every driver get one event each to review, like this one with pictures and a little text to it. We could read about every race like this and every driver only need to do it once.

I know that there are more drivers than races, but let's say that the winner of GT500 does the review one week, and the next week the winner of GT300. If the winner already have done a rewiev from a previous race, the one who finished in 2nd will do it, and so on.. Hows that idea?

If someone really want to do all the reviews it's fine for me :)
Just a taught how to split up some work between us to ease the load for Masi_23 (It's A LOT of work put in to this already, kudos to you:tup:).

i dunno, it needs talent to do this kind of report n to take those photos like a pro. congrats qzchao!!

Yes, it takes talent to do a report like the one above. But I was thinking that it's timedemanding and taught that it could be a good idea to split up some work, unless we have someone who really want to de the reviews every week. Every report doesn't need to be as good as this one. A report with some pictures ant a little text to it is all we need..

Also, for Division 2 drivers: Division 2 race will be hosted by me. It will start an hour after the Division 1 Race (or sooner) It depends.

I am gmt +2 and was looking at div 1 start time. I am racing in div 2 which starts at 2am for me. Is there a possibility of starting div 2 earlier?

How do others feel about this? please discuss if any objections.👍

Damn qzchao that was just awesome. I would love to do it too but i know i suck at taking pictures like that and a strong but short story to go with it. It would be awesome to see ya do this from time to time m8.

This series hasn't really started yet but so far it beats everything ive done on FM2/3 in 4 years and imho the best series of GTPLANET.

Took you time to get this moving Masi but with the drivers with have in here it can only get better bro.

can i switch different cars each race?

Only in Preseason.

You must stick to one Constructor when the season starts (ie. Lexus, Nissan, Toyota, etc).

Update: Everyone please read race briefing on Post 1/Page 1

Great Race Report.

Awsome:tup:

Now i just have to remain focused for the entire race. Yesterday i made to many mistakes in the end.
