If it wasn't for gtplanet i wouldn't even know about this huge Rick Astley recent thing. I thought of the name as just that red haired Brit that covered motown songs, and not too badly, back in the 80s. Geez that was such a long time ago, had I not had this information here, I think if I had heard kids playing that over the mics in a gt5 pub lobby, I would be nothing but totally confused.

Yes.

But "I'm in that part of YouTube" applies to many different things. Some disgusting, some weird, some adorable, some "oh my god I hate the entire world because stuff like this happens to people", some just plain stupid and not even worthy of a video, and many others to name a few.

For me, I knew nothing before about this Youtube stuff.
To me, Rick Astley was simply a pop singer I heard on the radio in the late 1980s, topped the charts so he was on the radio a lot.
I remember my mother had introduced me to a song sung by Doris Day - "When I Fall In Love" - this was in the 1970s I had heard it. And in the 1980s, Rick Astley made a cover of it. So I remembered that quite well and liked it. (Doris Day's recording was from the 1950s.)

As for the term "rick rolled"... After seeing Rick Astley mentioned on GTPlanet a few times in recent weeks (& I thought it was odd)... I looked it up, and found that "Rick Rolled" for whatever reason became a term after an internet craze a few years back where people would I guess link to something, saying it was one thing, but then it would turn out to be a video of Rick Astley singing his hit chart-topping song from the 1980s, "Never Goiong to Give you Up"
If it's gone on from there with a meaning... I had no idea about that either.

Word of warning, putting NA engines in Turbo'd cars ruins the engine note, so it's not worth doing unless you don't care about that kind of stuff.

Ah, didn't really think about that. Yea, car has to have a good sound so I guess I'll explore other avenues. Thanks for the advice.

Ok so it was Daytona and tire wear very fast 11 laps guy brings out x1 I have the classic Ferrari he can't control the car and wrecks, he eventually catches up to me tries to wreck me and I just hit my brakes at the last second and he flys into the wall and rage quits LOL

Ah, didn't really think about that. Yea, car has to have a good sound so I guess I'll explore other avenues. Thanks for the advice.

Anytime, figure I may as well spread my knowledge of hybrids to those that are (I think) just starting out that intend to be realistic. May I recommend one of the Jaguar XKR engines, they are turbo'd, but they are both 5 Liter V8's.

I've thought about trying to join a series that races the Cappuccino RM's but I don't really have the time for it. I'm joining a hybrid racing series but I still enjoy my Suzuki.

I've NEVER had anyone I met in a lobby even ask about car trading, let alone to demand it.
That is just ridiculous. If it's common... I had no idea.

Unfortunately, thats just the mentality of most people online these days. Spoiled little brats that if they don't get their way, they throw a fit. That is just one example of why I haven't been online in over a year.

I once got kicked from a room because I'm from Detroit and the host assumed I was African-American. Racism at its best. That was pretty much the last straw for me as far as online goes.

Not sure man. Here's a good enough sum-up of what happened.
I was just about attempt to beat the Best Lap of 8:36 with the Copen. I was rounding the last corner heading to the start/finish, when a bright red Range Stormer rammed me straight on, effectively pinning me up against a wall. Luckily the tiny size of the Copen allowed an easy escape with enough squirming around.
I escaped the Range Stormer as it struggled to turn around (traction control much?), when a Ram came out of nowhere, and attempted to Ram me (lame pun I guess). I swerved out of it's way, and was greeted with a roadblock of two Rams and a Range Stormer. The red Range Stormer from earlier drilled into the back of me and sent me skyward. At this point I was furious.
In the midst of all the ramming, someone happened to see the commotion while spectating, and brought out a Tank Car. There, he drilled through the roadblock, thereby allowing me to escape. The chase was on. Whipping through corners, I saw one of the Rams inching closer and closer to me in my rear-view mirror (looked hacked, as it was unnaturally low to the ground and was FAST)
I pushed the Copen's tiny 660cc engine to the absolute limit, plowing through Nurburgring's many corners. I could see each of the 5 trucks wanting to get a piece of me, as they kept cutting corners and failing to even graze the side of me. Eventually at the Mini-Karousell, they gave up, and all left at once. Either the host woke up and rejected all of them, or they just left to go troll another lobby.

The room I was in had all aids off and was on the nurburging. I though it would have decent racers going in but it was basically these two guys harassing everyone.

I think it's the younger audience that mostly do this sort of thing. I am not saying all of them are like that but more mature people tend to use the game for what it actually is for rather than park in the corner and bash others.

I don't really go in open lobby much. I used to be in one of the leagues members from organize but real life got in the way of participating in it. I am fairly new to open lobby you might say. Holy hell is it a :censored:hole though.

I had to kick someone from my shuffle lobby once for typing kinds of racist nonsense insults into the text chat because he clearly assumed I was a black man... apparently possibly because my name is wat3rm370n. Someone actually had to point that possible association out to me, because honestly it's not something *I* would've ever thought about!
I wonder what that turkey would've been like if he thought I was black and realized I was actually a *gasp* woman!! (He probably would've had a total coniption fit. )

Sounds like quite the ride! And also enraging. I would have a Copen just to mess around in, but I can not tune FF cars for my life. Understeer is so annoying!

Also, traction control in GT5 SUVs = you are NOT going around that turn easily.

The worst I've dealt with? Nurburgring, 10 lap endurance.. 9 people racing, me and this other guy are racing an extremely clean race. We're coming up the the final straight before the finish. I was getting the draft and about to pass when BAM! Some idiot who was already cheating decided to turn around and drive backwards going full speed, pull the handbrake at 200 mph and hit me. I got kicked after for what? Because I was a "hacker"... It's sad to say that it happened more then once.
