Ok, as no one seems able to mirror my video files I have setup a torrent tracker that I hope will both work better and maybe give more speed :)
The only (I hope :)) problem is that you have to create a account and verify your email address, I will NEVER send spam or anything else to this email addresses but as im new to this tracker software I dont know how to disable this function :)

Hey i'm dying of jealousy hearing of you guys enjoying these tracks. I have a lot of questions though so i hope someone can help me out!

I have both the Japanese and Chinese version of the game. I tried following the directions but i'm a bit confused because of the translation. Here's how i understand it.

I have to load up the game into my HD, then download the zip files included on the first post and save them into teh directory where i saved the game. If that's right then i've done that so far.

I got confused when i had to transfer the original tracks becuase there are many files for one track, so do i transfer all of them or just one? For example, there's NY L1, L2 and L3, and the same for other tracks.

I also don't have the SCE. file, instead mine's SCAJ_200.66. I did the part where you repalce the tracks and select "replace all files" but i didn't rename anything because i didn't think the directions prompted me to rename any files.

Also i hear people say that they've burnt the game into CDrs but the GT4.Vol file is 1.9 gigs alone!!! I thought if burnt it meant that it was broken down into 2CDRs but how can you play a game when it's 2 CDrs? And I dont' understand the part about burning multiple CDs. Do you burn one CD per track that you want?

I've read the entire thread and i'm still not clear on these issues. I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Chinese and Japanese version's files are different from PAL version
if you use notepad to open those bat files (dos batch file), you can actually edit it
make some change of them to become patch-able, but it is just a suggestion, not tested yet

like these two lines in 1_Dvd.bat
applyppf a SCES_524.38 Patch1.ppf
applyppf a IOPRP300.IMG Patch2.ppf

you may change them to
applyppf a SCAJ_200.66 Patch1.ppf
applyppf a IOPRP280.IMG Patch2.ppf <-- not sure if you have this file too

this step I have zero confident that will work, but at least it will patch
these ppf may only design for PAL version ONLY, VV may know about this

for 2_Extraction.bat, you have to separate the file into 2 parts
first one will be extracting GT4.vol ONLY

Copy the other commands to a new bat file
then look inside extracted folder and look for "mpeg", "narration" and "bgm" folders
and copy the exact location of those pss and ads files then modify those commands in the new bat file
as you know chinese and JP version only has one language for narration instead of 6
so most command lines can be deleted

the reason why your GT4.vol still is in 2 GB size, because dummy files didn't replace those pss and ads files (wrong address)

the 3_Reconstruction has no need to modify

it may sound a bit complicated, hopefully it can guide you to the insight
let us know if this works for you

for replacing the tracks, just rename the new tracks to tsukuba, newyork, assisi, fisco and grandcanyon
then copy all of them to crs folder, so it will ask you to replace them or not
and answer yes


side notes:
My first rip was a little over 700MB, I tried activate overburn in Nero, but said the disc cannot accept it ... :crazy:
so I copy a dummy ads to replace race_j21.ads to make the GT4.vol smaller
I guess it wont affect much :P
 
I have not been able to get the Korean NTSC version to work.

Because the Korean /crs/ folder has so many tracks, I couldn't reduce the size of the GT4.VOL without replacing some courses with dummy crs files of smaller size. I did that for all the tracks not used (seattle, laguna etc..) Then I compile it back up and the size was around 703MB, it burned ok, I got it to load up.

I see the credit screen, it fades away, then nothing...

Any thoughts?

I know I burned it right, because I did the same burning method as I did when I tried it with the PAL version.

I just can't get the Korean NTSC version to boot ever. Has anyone else been able to?

Torrents are a tool that you use to download stuff from another person's PC. It's similar to Kazaa but much better.

DO a search for abc torrent and download that version. This is what most people use when they talk about downloading movies and what not. There is a huge site that has pretty much everything you can think of. I dont' know hwo the rules are in here regarding these things, but PM me if you're interested in more.
 
Oh and thanks for those tips, Franz. They do sound a bit complex for a fellow like myself, but i'll do my best to follow those instructions, sometime tomorrow. The advice on renaming tracks was a big help though, that's for sure.

Actually i think it would be a worthwhile test. I checked the back of my games and they dont have region restrictions. Our DVD region is 4, but i dont think it counts with games. I am trying to find out as soon as i can coz i have to pre order it either way so have to make a decision, lol. Thanks mate.

I think you need a modded Ps2 to play UK games. Cause both USA and JPN games are NTSC, but you can´t play a japanese game on a US Ps2 without a modchip.

And as soon as someone manage to play this tracks with a NTSC Prologue I´ll try it here too.

I regged. Tried to download anything but it doesn't work. It shows 1 sender but i don't get any "data". :)

Maybe there is something wrong with the settings or so?

(and no, not flaming you. Just telling that it doesn't work for me. I love it that you placed the vids online)

which you are actually playing a renamed dummy.pss
so it becomes NTSC -> PAL and got stuck because the program assume it is NTSC

I am going to give it a try with my JPN prologue without ripping into DVDr and see if it works

Hopefully not, lol. But i do have a modded ps2 on the floor here which i just got working again, but i wont know if the chip itself is still in worjking order until my mate brings his games that used to play on it up here on saturday, so fingers crossed.

I am wondering how do you burn DVDr with nero6?
I am used to burn image, not file mode or something
should I use ISO/UDF mode? what kind of setting i suppose to use?

here is my situation, I only did tracks exchanging
I made an iso file earlier with ISO/UDF mode
when I use isobuster to open it, there are 16 files's LBA numbers becomes 98xxxx
but the original copy, those LBA numbers are about 1000 something
is it okay to have 98xxxx?

ps - mine is direct-boot

I don't know about burning a DVD-R.
I use a CD-R, and I just make a iso image file and burn it with Nero or MagicIso, mode 2/XA, low speed.
 
I've downloaded all them videos and watched them... has anyone esle noticed that the lap counter on Motegi counts up halfway thru the lap?!

Hey guys, before anyone tries hacking the Series 1 Nürburgring into Prologue, I'd like to say that I don't really think it'll work. After all, the Series 1 demo is using a different, newer game engine, and might also be using data streaming, so it most likely uses instructions and information that won't work in the Prologue engine.
 
I believe a new gt4 track will be released to the media pretty soon. Isn't there a new track released at the end of every month?
 
It would be amazing if London Track :D would be released......but I suspect the next offical one will be nursnow :grumpy:

How is it a new engine? Just the display is different that I noticed.
 
I found out the car list in chinese and japanese version of GT4P has some hidden cars inside
brands including alfa, asl, chevrolet, chrysler, citroen, fiat, isuzu, plymouth, pontiac, ruf and tvr
there are some other cars too, but I can't figure out what they are

I cannot prove if they are driveable by replacing the non-hidden cars
I guess maybe someone can give it a try
since I still cannot get all versions of GT4P (in both dvdr and cdr) to "boot" with replacing the tracks
maybe my process of making iso file go wrong
let me know if someone wants the hidden car files for their pal version
