Would you want a racetrack near you or not?

I remember when Tom Chilton drove a Lego Star Wars Civic Type R. Who would have thought all if these things could be part of a 14 year olds life? Surely there's not enough time for it.

I've also met Max Biaggi 4 times, and have 4 signed hats. Funny thing is he stole by Sharpie pen.

Nice. Silver stone is 1 hour 30 mins from me, so again, very reasonable. I went to see F1 in 2002, so I was only 4 years old and can't remember much. All I remember is Jarno Trulli in his Renault. My favourite car back then.

I alway used to fall asleep during races. When I was about 5 my dad took me to MotoGP at Donington. We were about 12 metres away from the home straight, so it was **** loud, and I fell asleep. But your F1 sleepin beats that hands down.

I had them massive ear protectors on so I could hardly hear anything because the f1 cars are loud
The race was quite boring because there was no crashes and I like seeing crashes

Oh ok. Maybe I win then. I will never know how I fell asleep whilst watching Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi, Daijro Kato and Sete Gibernau. Mental isn't it?

BTW Hoe old are you?

You make me feel old. At least you didn't miss the end. I wish I could get away with sleeping anywhere now.

Yeah but luckily I woke up before the end so I could see Hamilton come second
I am 12

You can't sign up to GTP until you are 13. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news....

I was pretty sure it is 12.

Edit: dammit, my bad. It is 13, don't know where I read otherwise but I swear I have.

If we're talking about paved tracks where there's actually any racing worth mentioning going on, it's 9 hours away. There are some folkrace dirt tracks pretty near though, this one is probably the closest:

I grew up about 5 mins from Brands Hatch, used to go into the garden to hear the noise and ride up and down the road on my bike making vroom noises.

Am now about 10 mins from santa pod which sounds good and 15 mins from Bedford autodrome and about 40 mins from Silverstone & Rockingham. Still prefer to drive the 2 hours to Brands Hatch though, its a proper circuit set in an environment that makes the racing epic rather than the anodyne experience of Silverstone.

The nearest track to me is Waterford Hills in Clarkston, Michigan, less than 1/2 hour away from me in Troy. It's a very good track, with 13 turns packed into a 1.42 full layout. It's got a little bit of everything, from long straights and fast sweepers, to tight corners and overtaking opportunities under braking. It mostly hosts club-level racing and isn't exactly up to professional circuit standards, so don't expect it to host any major racing series anytime soon. But if you're looking for good racing at the weekend warrior level, Waterford Hills is hard to beat.

This is funny. Seeing a track which I can hear from my house on this site. I have been there quite a few times to watch races.

Flat Rock Speedway is less than 5 minutes from my dads house :sly:.... Altier146237 & braunracing88 may know about this track....

Love watching the car-towing-boat and bus-with-fireworks figure eights that take place here, along with drivers sometimes getting revenge after the races by ramming the other driver's car. 👍

I also have no problem with the noise, you can only hear it outside, where these cars are LOUD... Also, The races are also only on saturday nights, so you wont loose any of your sleep during the week nights

The bigger racetracks here are like 2 hours away from me (pretty much on the other side of the island) and there's another smaller one about 45 mins away. They really aren't very elaborate tracks since they both have long straightaways that are used as drag strips and cars generally take 1-2mins to lap them (the bigger trakcs) so yeah I can't really complain though I would really like them to have some camber and elevation changes which is kind of ironic they don't considering all the hills here.

I live just under 40min away from good old Nürburgring.

Too bad I don't own a car yet, and I'm not suicidal enough to throw my motorcycle around the Ring at full speed.

Hurry up before they close the 'ring.

I've played too much Race07 to not recognise that place.

I did think only Danes would know about it :D. - There's also "Sjællandsringen", which is on Zealand, but that one's +150 kilometers away from me, and "Padborg Park, near the German boarder, which is +200 kilometers away.

Not the most complex track in the world but my parents used to take the household there several times to watch dirt races on the oval. It's only a 14 minute drive from my house

Oulton Park was pretty loud at around 8am last week for the British GT...

...didn't bother me though.

Living in the midlands of England, i'm quite close to several racetracks. Rockingham Raceway and Santa Pod Dragstrip are about twenty minutes away, and Silverstone is about an hour away. Donnington Park is also two hours away. I wouldn't want to live within noise range or near affected areas traffic wise though (I can imaging it gets fairly busy around Silverstone on a Grand Prix weekend).
