Would you want a racetrack near you or not?

I live pretty close to the Nurb (4 to 4,5h), Hockenheimring (3), Spa-Francorchamps (1h), Zolder (40 mins), etc. Close enough, and far away enough to not be bothered (at all), on big events. Perfect :)

Pretty f-ing close to perfect. And don't forget the Autobahn. Congrats.

People shouldn't be allowed to live next to race tracks unless they're proper motorsports fans...

I gather the 24 hour race at Silverstone this year has been shortened to 6 hours again, this time around because of complaints about noise from the villagers.

:censored:ing :censored:ers

I'm a bike ride away from a local dirt speedway, and about 45 mins drive from both Pukekohe Park and Hampton Downs. Nothing international, but they're decent raceways :P

I was once a ten minute drive from Castle Combe, I am now a ten minute walk from Goodwood!

WTF? I'd live not just by a racetrack, I'd live IN the racetrack! I would've just told all the villagers to 🤬 off and put up with a few hours of noise.

Its like the situation at brands hatch. The track has been there since the 1930's and the housing estate next to it was built much later, however the people who bought houses next to the track complain about the sound.

WHY U BUY HOUSE IF U NO LIKE NOISE?????? I'm pretty sure their are many petrolheads who would pay more for a house in that position so why don't they sell up and move somewhere which meets their sound requirements.

About 1.5-2 hours from Mosport, 3 hours from Shannonville, and an hour from Grand Bend.

It would be nice to have more tracks closer by though. Dad said that when he was racing in Ireland, there was about 8 tracks within 20-30 minutes.

Under an hour from Sonoma Raceway and about 2 hours from Laguna Seca, assuming there's no traffic.

Yes, especially since there isn't a single racetrack in the city where I live. :(

As long as the racetrack isn't ridiculously close to residences (>1 km of distance) and there aren't any cars running on it at night, I'll be happy to have one built close to my home.

I'm a bit skeptical of that, unless he was counting go-kart tracks.

Yes I would and I do, Castle Combe is 35 minutes away, Thruxton is under an hour away.
Plus the good thing about Britain is it's pretty small, so the big ass circuits like Donington, Silverstone, Brands Hatch etc. are very close.

I have two road race tracks within 1 hour of where I live. Grattan Raceway and Gingerman raceway. 1 hour drive is NOTHING. Some people have to drive many miles to find a race track.

I have been road track racing on these 2 tracks for many years. I have hundreds of pictures and videos in my signature. I am greatful to only have to drive 1 hour. 👍

I didnt include drag strips because those are boring to me.

I live in a little island, so there are only some kart tracks and one "decent" track at a place called Maspalomas, but anyways it's a little track. But I also have to say that in my island (Gran Canaria) we have great roads for rallys (IRC went to Gran Canaria) and next to my house every year a rally is organized (With some WRC cars).

There's a track at Maspalomas? I've been to Gran Canaria many times and I never knew that!

For me, I'd like some more local tracks, as the closest is probably Croft Circuit which is roughly an hour away.

I have tracks from about 45 mins away, (a small one), to the world-famous Nordschleife around 4 hours away. But I don't use a lot of public tracks.

I'd prefer an enclosed, and private course any day. ;) And it shouldn't be too far away either ;)

Nah, proper racing tracks. He used to race motorcycles in the 70s and 80s.
Off the top of my head I can think of Mondello, Aghadowey, Kirkiston, and Nutt's Corner.

I see that you're from there, so you know how crazy they are about their bike racing.

I'm about an hour from Texas World Speedway, which has a two-mile oval that's a twin to MIS and a road course with configurations up to 3.1 miles in length. Unfortunately, NASCAR and Indy left in the '80's, so the facilities are quite a bit off their best, but the road course is a fun one to drive, with a couple of high-speed turns, a lot of medium-speed turns, and one medium-slow hairpin.

I'm also about an hour from MSR-Houston, which is a club track. It's mostly flat (aside from one contrived hump), but it's got some fun turns.

I'm about 2.5 hrs from COTA and from another club track, Harris Hill Road, and 4.5 to 5 hrs from Eagles Canyon Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

There's also the Autobahn country club in Joliet, which is a road course, and a country club for sports car owners. Perhaps one day when I win the lotto I could go there.

24 Hours of LeMons races there. No lotto needed.

I am about 3 hours from the Circuit of the Americas, but I'm an hour and a half from Texas Motorplex (a dragstrip) and I'm less than an hour from Texas Motor Speedway.

You may be near-ish to Eagles Canyon Raceway or MSR-Cresson.

I live by Houston Motorsports Park, a 3/8 mile oval track, and drag strip, but i'm willing to drive 3 hours to Circuit of the Americas.

See above. You have some other tracks relatively close by.

That's true, my uncle has a lot of Isle of Man TT videos and a bike.

My closest track is also croft and it is 20 mins away from me

I live 20 minutes away from Donington Park, so I can't complain at all. Close enough to easily get there, but far enough to miss all the traffic, noise etc. I have loads of tracks within 2 hours though (10+) and I travel around the country to most of the bigger ones with a race team who run in the British Sidecars, which supports BSB. Not ba for me at all.

Dot even talk about the TT. I still haven't been, but really want to. I have a friend who won both sidecar TT races in 2012. It's the passenger who I know.

The F1 was the worst thing that ever happened to Donington. They never needed the F1. I was happy with WSB and MotoGP. It's still on the way back up though. I remember when I was younger, going with my dad and his mate, and eating a bacon cop in the rain whilst watching BTCC. Good times. I've also seen DTM at Donington as well as all the bike events imaginable. What about meeting Bruno Senna there? Or sitting next to Takuna Sato on a grass bank, when they were both in F3. I've also been to every bike event possible there.

I'm about 2 hours from Croft, an I always enjoy going. I love the complex at the end.

My dad races at croft but never raced had donington but he knows the track off by heart because of track days
And cool I met Tom chilton at croft and he liked my top because it was a ford one lol
