Would you want a racetrack near you or not?

I've got Donington, Croft, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park, Mallory Park and Silverstone all between an hour and two hours away. If i'm going to get in my car and drive for ten minutes, i'm just as happy to drive for a couple of hours. So yes i consider those tracks as 'near' enough.

So you live in South Korea or North Korea?

Northern California is nice for tracks, I just wish I was in the SF Bay area instead of Sacramento. I'm about an hour from Thunderhill, two hours from Sears Point/Sonoma, three and a half from Laguna Seca, and four from Buttonwillow. If I were in the Bay area, it'd be two hours to Laguna Seca and an hour to Sonoma, though.

I'm probably moving back to SoCal in a few months, and living there is great, but you don't have the close access to world-class road circuits. Long Beach is only once a year, California Speedway doesn't have much other than NASCAR, and Willow Springs is mostly amateur stuff.

Race tracks are all over Indianapolis and surrounding area. Not just the big one that everybody knows either. Dozens more within A few hours. I Don't really go to the other ones though! Just the big one. After more than 20 Indy 500's and 10 or so NASCAR events, they are starting to lose their appeal. Especially the NASCAR event. Too little banking and cars heavier than houses make passing far too infrequent for my tastes.

Historic track though - that's for sure. Set smack in the middle of a neighborhood. Nothing but houses to the east and west.

Yep, been to the Indy 500, Brickyard 400, two F1`races, and all five Moto GPs. Too cool of a place not to avoid, and yeah the racing isn't great.. but just being there is cool.

Is that a real question???

Earmufs are cheap, the privilege and pleasure of living near a racetrack isn't. The only local "racetrack" is the Autodromo de Tocancipa and it's quite small and not very fast, think of it as a latin Tsukuba. It's some 10 Km away from the city's border and it's only open to the public for 1/4 Mile drag racing ( :( ).

I would like, in fact, some rich people here wanted to bring international competitions building a track in the city, but one of them was arrested.

The closest tracks to my house...ummm 💡 about 8-12 hours to Sears Point, Laguna Seca and Las Vegas Speedway, and if you can consider it "close", a bit more than 1 day to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, in Mexico City

:scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

How are you 4 hours away from Button willow, if I am 4 hours away also? But I live near Fresno.

Oh god do I want a race track near me! Hell yes. Vancouver is the least auto-themed place on Earth. We've got one race track that's a one hour and 20 minute drive away, and you could mistake it for a go-kart circuit. That's how bad it all is

Lime Rock Park is an an hour and 20 minutes from me, now that I moved to Woodstock.

:D

I guess now I should get iRacing.

I've got two race tracks close by. And one of these race tracks is one of the most famous race tracks in the world. Care to guess which these tracks are? :sly:

More important, for me personal, than race tracks is a driving school facility. There is one, 1 hour drive from where I live. I've practised car control (anti slip, defense and offensive) a couple of times a year for 10 year at this driving school.

Spa - Francorchamps and the other would be The Nordschleife or perhaps the Zolder Circuit.
:)

I live about 2.5 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway, during drag race weekends you can here the top fuel/funny,and jet cars if I step outside. The funny thing is the tape delay during (live) coverage you here the cars run then a few seconds later you see them on the tube. The traffic is bad during the races because you take 2 cities Bristol Tn/Va that has about 44,500 population(between the two) and add over 150,000 extra you will have traffic problems.

Magic.

I remember from another thread a couple of years ago that you live in Belgium. So it could be Zolder or de Duivelsberg. But Zolder it is, and that is a nice track to have close by.

Quite a nice track. I'm not a big Nascar fan, but I did enjoy discovering the variety of ovals when playing NTG 2011. I have to admit, Bristol was probably the hardest for me to get used to. It's just so short, you don't really have time to catch your breath. It's even crazier when you have 42 other cars in such close proximity in such a short, narrow track. I also like Dover for the same reason, but Bristol took a long time to get used to. It took about 30 practice laps for me to start doing consistent laps without touching the barrier. The barrier on the exit of turn four used to mock me consistently.

As for me, I live reasonably close to Motegi Circuit and Fuji Speedway. I am around a three hour drive from Motegi and a two hour drive from Fuji Speedway. Add around an hour on to both if using public transport. However, I am a forty minute train journey away from Tokyo R246. Not a real track, but the roads are real. That's as good as I'm going to get as there aren't really any suitable locations in the Kanto region for any other tracks.

Lastly, I am around a seven or eight hour drive (or about 4 hours via local train, shinkansen and bus) from the second best circuit in the world. Suzuka Circuit.

How far is Tsukuba in relation?

Watkins Glen: 2 and a half hours
Pocono International Raceway: 2 and a half hours
Lime Rock Park: 2 Hours 45 Minutes
Port Imperial Street Circuit: 3 Hours

I'd prefer a closer racetrack personally.

Based on times listed wouldn't Circuit Gilles Villeneuve be closer?

Closest to me is Gateway Motorsports Park (St. Louis), just under 2 hours from me. They have started to do PDX events again, and I may try to make it to one next year. Otherwise I always have to drive about 2 hours to an autocross, in one of three directions.

I use to live only 5 metres from my PS3 with GT5 and my race game setup and pc with all the race tracks I was interested in.

Stopped playing though but I still have Zolder, Spa and the Nordschleife and ofcourse JESCO.

Do you see Kaz at tsukuba a lot? Lol

Well that would be hard as I've never been. :sly: As I type this, I am about 5 minutes walk from the Tokyo r246 track. So that means I am fairly near his office. When the weather cools, I'll walk the "track" and take pictures.

Take a picture of the Happy Lunch Box please!

I don't mean to get anyone off topic here but I would want a track near me because I love track days, and I live close to Mid-Ohio I've just never been there
